  1. I don't know.... I got a feeling that Tanner Lee is going to make it rain!

  2. Friendly reminder as trump pardons a racist during a Category 4 hurricane that the White House hasn't even appointed a FEMA Director yet.

  3. Kinda weird thinking Lee is a captain and has never played a down for us, replacing a guy who was a 4 year starter who wasn't a captain.

  4. The day after Donald Trump's unfortunate Charlottesville statement, he came back with a scripted response that the White House staff assured him would quiet the outcry. It was bullsh#t, but a PR no-brainer designed so the administration could move on to more important things. The next day Trump has a softball lined up: announcing an Infrastructure bill. There's almost nothing but good that could come out of an infrastructure bill -- barely a partisan position to take. If the GOP and Trump had led with infrastructure back in February, they could have made their lives easier. Whatever. But Donald Trump was so incensed that he'd backed down on his "many sides" improv that he blew the whole thing up. Not only did he double down on his original statement at this unrelated press conference, he went on to spend an entire week defending the Confederacy. Earning zero political capital from infrastructure -- something America needs far more than a border wall. He is willing to blow up his most valuable assets to defend his most frail insecurity. I thought I was getting used to this after two years, but that was a doozy. They'll put "Baited with a Tweet" on his gravestone.

  9. I was a lot more excited about Crawford unifying the belts. I don't think anything could happen in this fight that would be worth $100 of my money.

  10. Yeah I don't think it was ever meant to be a competitive athletic contest. It was meant to extract money from easy marks.

  14. That lady is AWFUL. Overall, gun sales are slumping right now, which goes to show how powerful having a Democrat is in office for the NRA. Screeching about how they're coming for your guns is the best gift they could have. Now Trump's there and the NRA doesn't know who to demonize, so they've taken to going after the "elites" and "fake news media." They're essentially just another propaganda arm for the Trump administration. She tweeted after Charlottesville about how all groups based on identity politics and not freedom are "not on her side." Somebody kindly reminded her the Nazis in Charlottesville were gun toting nutjobs squarely in the GOP base. Here's her response and the logical follow-up:

  17. I agree that Riley (all the coaches really) seem to be excited and eager for the season to get underway. There is a a quiet confidence and very business / workmanlike attitude which is quite noticeable. This is the best attitude and "vibe" I've seen from the Huskers in quite a few years. Now, we've had teams that were all confident and even boastful and so on (even Bo said "Nebraska's back and here to stay") only to have the wheels fall off and so on. I like the mindset of the team based on the interviews and reports. Of course, we only get glimpses and snippets but still, this team seems to have the right focus, the effort has been there all 2017 and we shall see. Hopefully this newfound comraderie and approach will not evaporate in the first strong headwinds the team faces. There will be adversity and there will be momentum shifts and gut punches, etc. Can the team take them and come back fighting even harder. That will be the measure of success or fail for me this year. It's more than just winning, its having a winning attitude and the 'want to' down deep. Losses need to hurt and not be shrugged off as 'just another game' and there's always next week.

  18. I've never followed any type of fighting. But it seems to me that this fight is like... The best rugby team in the world playing its first American football game against the Super Bowl champions.

  19. I really get the feeling that MR is genuinely excited to see what these guys do in an actual game. I think he thinks they are going to make a huge jump this year. I just haven't seen him like this heading into the previous seasons. It's pretty infectious. The Kool-Aid is flowing hard.

  20. So Arpaio walks away unscathed. That in and of itself is outrageous and upsetting. But another important aspect to this is the precedent this sets. Trump is blaring, loud and clear through a megaphone, that anyone who kisses his ring can break all the laws they want and spit on the Constitution if they buddy up to president and have his back. Particularly with LEOs, this precedent is frightening. And, as Walter Shaub points out, don't expect anyone implicated in the Russia deal to ever face any serious charges. Don't squeal, because I'll bail you out anyway, no matter what.

  21. Lol. I don't think Gorka had much of a meaningful role to begin with. He basically just wandered around the White House trying to appear important and went on TV at every available opportunity to get into a slap fight with the media and polish Trump's knob.

  26. Might as well be the battle of N... The Broken Chair is interesting. NU ends up as an argument in semantics. The only people that even talk about NU v NU are message board posters, and barely at that. It MIGHT have had a chance if this rivalry started 100 years ago, but now it's about BRANDING and not pride. It's contrived, boring, and forced. To me, there is no difference between the "Battle for NU" and the Heroes Trophy. The Broken Chair has captured our interests organically, as all good rivalry trophies do. We talk about this thing a lot. Don't like Pelini? I don't care, it's not about him. It's about Nebraska v Minnesota fighting over a few pieces of broken wood. To me, that's a hell of a trohpy.

  27. My grandpa had his checkbook stolen by a vacuum salesman several years ago. His partner was talking to my 90 year old grandparents so he snuck the checkbook into his pocket. He then went to the bank drive thru and wrote a check to himself and in the note he wrote that it was for "4-wheeler for grandson." One problem though; my aunt worked at the bank he went to. She knew it wasn't his writing so she called the police. The thief stayed in the drive thru the whole time until the police showed up and blocked off his car.

  28. Best trophy we play for. Beats the Mizzery Bell, any day of the week. Until we play for a golden NU and the right to have NU on the scoreboard the following year with Northwestern.

  39. I think P.J. Fleck is a huge upgrade for the gophers. It will take time though translating this into more total wins. recruiting wins, etc If the gophers overachieve which could likely happen, then I foresee him taking a better job the next couple of years or so.

  40. Who are you? I was just sharing an article on a recruit who has shown interest, but hasn't been talked about in a month. The article had not been shared here, so that's why it was posted. I can predict a player to be N, whenever the hell I want. feel free to ignore. That's where you're headed on my list. No fishing for +1's here.
