  1. Im actually really wondering what goes through your mind when watching this team play? It took me 7 years to fall off the Pelini bandwagon, so Im usually one for giving coaches time, but anyone with a pair of eyes can see that this is NOT good football. And when you break down film its even worse.

  3. Iowa state lost a few recruits when Paul Rhoads got fired. Maybe it's more important to get a good coach than it is to save a few recruits. Just a thought.

  4. bookie and keyshawn jr are probably more well known by fans than half the players on our current team, and neither will likely ever play a down for nebraska.

  5. Bookie didn't decommit because of W-L's, or the product on the field. Bookie brought his whole family with him to the Wisconsin game. You think that is a kid who was worried? Bookie committed to Nebraska in large part because he completely bought into the future of Mike Riley and Donte Williams. He knew where things were, but to him he thought things would change. But even as a 17 year old, he could actually see the big picture. Success isn't made overnight. And to change a culture, and a program, doesn't happen overnight. Point blank -- if Riley and Donte were gonna be here, Bookie was gonna be here. But now we have an administration who had a knee jerk reaction to the NIU loss. From that point on, the negative recruiting has been relentless. The coaches? Nothing they can do answers the recruits questions. I mean, how do you explain to kids that we have a fan base that was more supportive of a guy who told them to "EFF OFF" than a guy in Riley who is universally loved and respected by players and recruits? The next coach? Good luck salvaging a class in about 3 months that very likely will end up with about 4-5 solid commits once everyone else opens things up. That should surely help with the depth concerns. Should be fun few years for him until the knee jerk reactions happen, again.

  6. I don't disagree with the rationale of Rodgers or @zoogs. I mean I want stability and continuity in the program. And it will require some time more than 3 years to be sniffing around conference championships and playoffs. I like Riley and could accept him being our coach for a long time.....BUT, this is where we start to diverge. There has been no indication he is changing the course of this program for the better. Like it or not, by year 3 we should be seeing some signs of improvement or even seeing that improvement might be soon forthcoming if not being realized yet. There are no such signs. In fact, everything except possibly recruiting is headed in the wrong direction. The offense is in total disarray and Langsdorf's game planning and play calling is a joke. We can't run the ball for sh#t and Cavanaugh and our O line are not improving but are a complete clusterf#ck. Diaco's defensive system might prove to be serviceable (even if most of us do hate the soft prevent style) but we'll never find out because this team is not doing what it takes to get and hold a lead. You can't play prevent D when you're constantly playing from behind. Riley has 30 some years in the game and he has never proven he is anything more than a middle of the pack mediocre coach. His results didn't see any bump when exposed to the resources here. There are still way too many issues for a coach of his tenure. Game management. Clock management. An apparent inability to motivate and inspire. Bad decision making for his surrounding staff. Banker, Reed, Langsdorf, Cavanaugh...he may have already moved to correct two of those but there is no excuse for the two that remain or the fact that they were problems to begin with. There is absolutely no indication this program is headed towards anything good with the current leadership. The absolute last thing we need is stability and consistency when the product is a hot mess. More time with this mess is just longer we have to wait until it gets headed in the right direction. That is an honest appraisal of where we are. I'm not emotional. I'm not upset that we haven't won enough games. I really do like MR and wish it would've worked but it hasn't and won't. By the 3rd season we should be seeing some remote signs of getting better and what I'm seeing is the opposite. They finally got rid of TA and got the type of QB they want. It's gotten worse. Along with that they are now able to call the type of plays they want and the offense is sh#t. It's light weight, no identity, throw a bunch of crap at the wall finesse dogsh#t. The last thing I want is for this system, this way of doing things to have stability. If you want to consistently be hovering around 7-5 results, MR is your man. No lightning is going to strike. No amount of time is going to change things. The ultimate hope with MR is that he'll pull off a wild upset once every couple of years. Maybe, just maybe, get us to a ccg once every 5 years (as long as the rest of the West division cooperates and is even worse than us). This is not championship football. This is not headed anywhere near championship football. It's not even good football. It's lukewarm, mediocre, middle of the pack bullsh#t. Year 3 three and we've lost to Northern Illinois, a terrible Oregon team, been prison sexed by both Wiscy and tOSU, squeeked by Arky State, pulled last minute miracle to beat Turdue and have won against two miserably bad teams in Rutgers and Illinois. WTF? More time for this? That's practically insane. It's nothing more than a sh#tshow that needs to be stopped.

  7. Not really worried about Vegas odds on coaching hires. It's not like games where you can run stats to get a baseline. All they're doing is trying to balance out the incoming bets. So a lot of people are betting on Frost an thus the line is moving. But that doesn't necessarily mean anything in the real world. It could be right. But it doesn't have to be.

  8. Page after page of the same posts. Nothing has changed in days. Nobody knows what is going to happen, other than the University and Coach Frost. We look like a bunch middle school girls pining for Justin beeber or something. This has gone beyond dumb, it wreaks of desperation. Every thing that could be said has been said ten fold. Again we have no say in the matter, period. Why keep typing the same crap over and over? When it is time for us to know, we will.

  9. It just boggles my mind that anyone could possibly want to keep Riley as our coach any longer after seeing the last three years. Like do you even care about the Nebraska football program at all or do you just hate change in general? Its crazy. And I like Riley. I think hes a good guy and i wanted him to succeed. He didnt. Its over. Start hoping for the best for Nebraska at this point.

  14. I have recently run into a troubling problem and am looking for a few suggestions on how to handle it. The problem? I don't know how to gloat properly. You see...as a diehard ISU fan, I'm not familiar with success and haven't really had to worry about the etiquette of gloating before. Oh sure, I'm surrounded by moron Hawkeyes fans who gloat about everything from their stolen Pittsburgh Steelers color scheme to their record of number of players cited for public urination...but the way they do it makes them seem like brainless a$$hole$ and makes the entire world hate them. Actually, the entire world already hated them but their method of gloating just magnifies the hatred. I don't want people to hate me. On the other hand, I had a conversation with a coworker today who is a Kansas State fan and I mentioned that we were ranked 14th in the nation and asked her where K State was ranked this year. When I realized what I said, I felt guilty about it. Even after assuring her that I was joking and that I was sure K State would win their next game because it was a night game and Bill Snyder would be on the sideline coaching instead of laying in his coffin trying to hide from the sunlight, I still felt bad, especially since she has real big breasts. So...here I am looking for some advice. How do I gloat without becoming an asshat Hawkeyes type of gloater but without having to worry about losing a chance of motor boating with the hot office assistant? Now I know Nebraska fans have had their share of success in the past and most of the ones I have met have usually been very gracious about the fact that their team was good while my team sucked so I decided it would be a great dea to come to the experts and ask how to gloat properly. Any advice would be appreciated...thank you in advance Cy

  16. Both of your posts have been spot on. Even the 11 kids we had for 2018, were all skill positions except 1 DL and 1 OL...Games are won in the trenches. Plain and simple. We lose one kid and our class tanks to 49. We are now down to 10..... pi$$ poor recruiting. Kids at the blue chip level are smart enough to see the writing on the wall. The writing wasn't Riley being let go, it was the week in and week out sh$t show comedy of errors this staff put on the field week after week. Bookie made the comment he was solid until April 2017..... Think this might have had anything to do with seeeing our new "attacking" D? Diaco said it was vanilla, didnt want to show anything. That is an excuse for This is the best I can do crap. The season starts and same old vanilla no press, stunts or exotic schemes.....none. Bookie and Co see this. Read somewhere our CB's have no INT's this year. Bookie appears to be getting them weekly. You think he wants to play in this system. Read his previous interviews about his style of play and watch our scheme. His comment about wanting to take care of family and future shows he realizes he will get lost at NU and lessen his chances to make the NFL....Clemson and OU since 2015 have had 30+ guys drafted....NU? 8........The Bookie train pulled out of the station before the season even started. Maybe a new coach keeps some of the class. Maybe we get a guy who really can do more with less. Maybe we keep Riley and NU never recovers and lose the sell out streak and become a team that people use to practice their new ideas against.....

  19. Riley could have assembled an All Star staff 3 years ago. Instead he brought a bunch of average guys he knew. He basically sealed his fate with that decision. Assuming his style would translate no problem and that this culture would accept it for years until it finally all fell into place, that's on him.

  20. I have never said that a native son has to be the coach or AD at Nebraska. However, I do think that it's essential that the coach/AD are familiar with what makes successful football at Nebraska. I would be all over hiring Scott Frost, even if he weren't a Nebraska native and alumni. I just think he has "it". However, if Frost isn't named, if another guy who has "it" is named, I will be all for it. I wasn't sold on Riley from day 1, because I didn't think he had "it". I hoped he would be successful, but it's obvious to me that he won't be successful at NU. He shouldn't be retained, just to try and get another year out of him for stability. Trying to delay the inevitable only hurts the program in the long-term.

  21. Just listened to the segment. Listening to Moos's key points, I don't see how he would bring Riley and his staff back. Moos pointed out toughness (physical and emotional), as being a key item for successful football teams. If he were watching the Purdue game closely, he probably didn't see much physical toughness shown by Nebraska. Our o-line was getting whipped all game, and we had guys lying on the ground all game. Now, the 4th quarter come back may have been an example of mental toughness, but that mental toughness has been inconsistent at NU under Riley. His commentary on Riley directly is Moos being courteous and professional towards Riley and the team. Moos made comments about having coaches in mind for that particular program, conference, and area. I can't think he would watch Riley's teams and think that the offensive style that Riley prefers to play with would be successful in the long-term at Nebraska. Moos wants to talk with Riley to get an understanding of his philosophy and his recruiting efforts, and digest all the information. Again, I don't see how Riley will answer things in that conversation will be in line with Moos's philosophy. Riley is a nice guy, and the two men know each other, but I just think that Riley's football philosophy is completely different for what Moos has for Nebraska.

  22. At this point I am cheering for the N on the helmet and those who wear it. I want them to win out because they are Nebraska, not because I want Riley to stay or go. I am not cheering for losses because I want a new coach. Win and move on. When and if there is a new coach, I will root for the Huskers. If it is not the guy I wanted, I will cheer for the Huskers. I cheered during the Bo era every year. I knew he wouldn't take us any farther, but I was hoping he would. I am guessing sans a win out, we will see a new coach. I will take whoever it is and hope we can turn the corner. GBR

  28. So Eric Crouch posts on rivals as 'ecrouch'? Color me skeptical (Assuming my math is correct) Crouch would have ran track as a freshman in 1994. Scott Frost would have ran track as a senior in 1993. Also, when would have Wood River and Millard North had a track meet against each other?

  29. I wanted to add. Living in Tulsa since 1979, I was glad to find out that there was an Okla Cornhusker Club that met to watch games. We all yelled and high five when things are going good and cry and moan when things don't go as well - too much of that this past 15 years. We've had as many as 260 or so at a watch party in Tulsa that I recall (before watch parties were developed in OKC and Bartlesville). We all stood up and applauded and yell when at N Dame in 2000 or 2001 - the TV came on to a sea of RED in the Norte Dame stadium. We all knew OU stats and players about as well as OU fans did. I once won a radio contest on OU trivia. When the radio guy found out I was a NU fan he publicly shamed the OU fans for not knowing what I knew. We then discussed the great rivalry games during the Big 8 years.

  31. I would say it's all in the semantics on both sides. Are they "considering" him? Is the their "#1 target"? I doubt anything has been agreed to by anyone. I would be shocked if both Florida and Nebraska were not already talking to Frost's agent. I'm sure he's high on both school's lists. So it's pretty easy for anything to get trumpeted at "this is what's happening." But I can't see how Frost would have decided on anything by now. At least not officially.

  32. This whole thread belongs in Rumorville. Seriously . Remember when you were little and some dumb, brat kid would say to you, “ I know something you don’t know and it’s really good and I’m not telling!” Yeah— that’s some of the posters on this board. Or “some of us are closer to the process and most of you here just wouldn’t understand...” To that - I say wtf -ever. Nobody here predicted that Eichorst would be hired , nobody predicted Pelini getting fired before it was announced, nobody predicted Riley’s hiring, nobody predicted Eichorst getting fired, nobody here predicted Moos.. Nobody here knows with certainty that Frost is coming. There is no psychic friends network on Huskerboard. Seriously move this thing to Rumorville.

  35. I titled this thread to be a catch-all for positive health care reform that is not just another political attack on the ACA. The forces that make healthcare unaffordable have been around long before the ACA, and were not caused by it, or exacerbated by it. I don't expect to see very many entries in this thread, but here's at least one: http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-generics/u-s-states-allege-broad-generic-drug-price-fixing-collusion-idUSKBN1D0201 This is the problem I have with conservative supply-side economics (trickle-down) that are anti-regulation, and think that less regulation always leads to more competition and lower prices. I'm sure that it happens that way sometimes, but more often there are monopolies and collusion schemes, too.

  38. Its coach speak and he is not lying. Florida/Nebraska/anyone else has not contacted him directly. They contact his agent. Thats how this works. While Frost is 100% focused on his team, his agent is 100% focused on Frosts job offers and contract. Thats why Frost pays him.
