  1. If I was a coach thinking about coming to Nebraska, this is the kind of thing that would turn me off. We are the best fans in college football. There is no need to disrespect Mike Riley, even as we part ways.

  2. So I'm still sold on Frost after my text chat I had before the game. However Moos has done his due diligence and reached out to several big names. If Frost does back out we already have a plan B that I would be VERY happy with if Frost backs out of his word. We are still fully expecting Frost to sign the dotted line though

  3. What difference does it make if Riley is fired tonight, tomorrow, or Sunday? If he's not fired by the middle of the week, then I'll start worrying.

  5. Here is why I believe that this is already a done deal. Eichorst is fired, Moos is hired with the number one priority being to hire the next football coach. Moos puts out several "feelers" to various candidates to gauge their response (which is what Chip Kelly was referring to) Moos makes a direct offer to Frost (through the proper agent channels, etc) Now, when offered, SF is either going to say Yes or No--He might need a day or two to think about it, discuss it with his wife, etc. but I am confident that a scenario discussion of this sort had taken place long ago and so the answer is a verbal yes--and there may have been a bit of detail negotiation back and forth about budget for staff salaries, etc. Frost also communicates to Moos that he does not want this to be made public until AFTER his season is over--to give full focus on his current team and to now allow any distractions from their season. (smart move on his part) He asks that it all be kept quiet until the proper time. Moos and company agree. Now, the overwhelming fan base choice is Frost, it is who we want, it is who we expect--and expectations are HUGE right now in Husker Nation....... Now.....lets say when Moos first reached out---and Frost had said NO, or said I will consider it, but will entertain other offers--we will talk after the season.....(something like that) Don't you think Moos and company would be doing EVERYTHING possible to shift the discussion away from Frost as a lock--as a way of slowly turning down those expectations and perhaps turning up the fire and excitement for another candidate that was wiling to make a solid commitment? I would think they would be smart enough to do this---via media sources, etc. Start shifting the narrative away from Frost and to someone else... They have been largely silent........ and that leads me to believe the first scenario has taken place and its already a done deal,

  6. I do get pissed at some of Rileys responses....the I know how to fix all of our problems etc. He did not have to go there or say that. He is a career 500 coach and now he had a eureka moment? BS Mike

  7. I've done all the preparation I need if that happens.

  8. I just hope it ends in respect. Mike wasn't a good fit for NU as a football coach but he was an excellent face for the University. I hope the fans will at least give him a standing ovation for hanging in there despite our poor record. I especially appreciate the way he handled Sam Foltz death. He did so with dignity and humility. You gotta give him credit for that and other ways he tried to unify the fan base by reaching out to former players, traveling around the state and reaching out to the fans, etc. He was a refreshing change from the drama of the previous coaching staff. GBR!

  9. What if I told you we are further along than literally everyone who has fired their coach? We made our offer to Frost 3 weeks ago and have spoke to atleast 2 other coaches other than him that would all be considered great hires. Moos is playing chess while a lot of these Ads are playing checkers. Not even kidding

  10. Moos strikes me as the type of guy that is calm and collected and not prone to an emotional "in the moment" decision to make an announcement the way other schools have. I would venture to guess that he is talking to Riley tonight or first thing in the morning and will announce Riley is gone by the end of the weekend. Also, if he is focused solely on Frost, there is no reason to rush on Rileys annoucement as Frost's pre-bowl season is not over for another 8 days.

  11. He's not. He's really not. Take your money and gtfo of that football office in Lincoln before you do more damage.

  12. I learned this staff and this team don’t care whether they win or lose. There is no life on this team.

  13. I learned that you can fire a coach 10 minutes after a game (LOL Arkansas)

  14. Like they never did before right? Ahhh the joys of having a vested interest in the SEC

  15. I think it would be terrible if it were today. Today is senior day and should be about the guys who chose to dedicate their 4-5 years of elgibility in Lincoln. Today is their party.

  16. I love that Miss State is ranked ahead of UCF with now 4 losses. Don't get me wrong, if UCF was in the P5, I would definitely want to keep all the G5 out, but at some point the pettiness looks silly. You have to set up some system with at least the appearance of fairness.

  18. After the game, in post game commentary, Hill stated that (the store is that) SE made Riley fire Banker. I thought this was interesting. Apparently I’m out of the loop, as I’ve never heard a reputable source say/print this (and I’m not talking about a internet post). If so, he didn’t let Riley run the team the way he wanted and probably would have done much better this year. Indeed, if SE did this with Bo (making demands and “recommendations”), it would explain a lot too, as after he got hired, NU didn’t seem to play as well as before. Whatever the truth is, I’m more happy SE is gone then anything else. He, imo, cursed this program, and it will take a lot of time to repair the damage he did.

  19. Other universities are running around looking like fools because they do not plan and have to be reactionary. We seem to be doing things quietly in the background which is smart. Just because you don't think things are happening, doesn't mean they aren't. Wouldn't want you running my business being worried about simply being first and looking busy.

  21. Florida and Tenn are more desperate than Nebraska. Do not buy into the Espn rumors. Espn is no longer credible and we all know they have an SEC motive. Don't fall for their BS.

  22. He screwed both coaches, just in different ways. He avoided Bo like the plague and told Bo to work with what he had in terms of money for staffing upgrades. Money he had no problem giving Riley. He meddled like hell with Riley. He was trying to put his fingerprints on the program like his mentor Alvarez except Barry actually knows WTF he is doing. That said, we sucked in every phase of the game today, you can't just blame Diaco. Riley has to go.

  25. Here's something we can all be happy about: Just take a look at Memorial Stadium today! That place is packed out! I'm so happy for our Seniors that everyone turned out to support them and the rest of our boys! GO BIG RED!!!

  26. I think most of us do, but can't see thru the Red Husker tinted goggles quite clearly. Some see it as a slam dunk, others listen to what Coach Frost has said. I know we are dealing with Coach Speak season. The fact that really no other candidate has been mentioned or supposedly interviewed, makes me lean towards he is coming (I think right now). We will know for sure in another week.

  27. Announcers made a comment pregame that the fans were showing up today, but Frost had commented that all they accomplished this year, the stadium was never sold out..... If he leaves UCF it's for NU...

  28. Meh, depends on the individual. Personally, if the Nebraska game is on, that's what I'm watching. No matter the state of the program.

  30. Not a chance in hell. I want there to be no regrets in his leaving, knowing that he did everything he could for perfection. A loss would always leave lingering doubt, or worse, him to want to stay another year and get that undefeated season. I'll gladly bear the sheer pain and uncertainty for another week. (Ok, not so gladly)

  31. Right. Florida continues to say Kelly is and always was their #1 but remember for like 2 weeks when all the buzz was scott frost? He obviously declined their offer and that's why they started going after Kelly. Now they can't even secure Kelly and he might be going to UCLA. Looking ugly for Florida and I'm glad... I hate florida with a passion (lived there so I "beefed" with fsu/florida fans a lot in school)

  32. Dewiz posted this on the KJJ thread but I feel I should repost it here since it's relevant to the Frost discussion. Probably just confidence from Taylor more so then him being in the "know" but interesting nonetheless:

  33. 2015 Mike Riley and Langsdorf force their air it out offense onto a QB who’s more of a threat with his legs than he is with his arm. Nebraska finishes the season 6-7 2016 Riley finally figures out that maybe we should play to TA strengths like zone reads and more QB runs. Nebraska finishes 9-4 The problem wasn’t TA and his lack of arm accuracy but more of a coaching problem who didn’t game plan to the strengths of the players he had Mike Riley is just not a good coach and Senior is making up excuses for his friend to save face.

  34. What I'm hearing is, "Our defense is terrible, we should upgrade to a frighteningly inconsistent DC. The fans of the undefeated team he coaches for should be happy about the results, but instead are wondering how much better they could be without him." I get that your DC is terrible, but less terrible should not be the goal.

  35. This. How can a dude be a football savant and out out the career product of .500.....I call BS. He can't manage the game with the clock, something we've seen time and time again. receivers repeatedly running routes short of the sticks, repeated penalties, Kalu, Jackson and now Knevel moved to new positions......Ol issues etc.....IMHO, he is not a good coach. Waste before he got here and isn't now.....Dude is nice enough that no one wants to say anything bad. Just because you can "teach" football doesn't mean it translates to on the field results. I truly think we have digressed since he has been here....This year, whatever could go wrong did. It's like the wheels just came completely off the cart....

  36. maybe perlman shouldn't have publicly chastised Bo- that wasn't his job to do that and I think he was a ranging ahole to do that publically- that was the beginning of the end for Bo because Perlman ....gasp... couldn't take the horror of a coach who showed a pulse on the sidelines you anti Bo guys are great- look what you got- a C nt for an AD (gone) and Ahole chancellor (gone) forced out a legend- and a winning coach who thin skin wieners couldn't stand because "he was an embarrassment " well soak in the loss to Iowa ya got your nice coach who loves you all - no embarrassment in losing to Iowa today is there?

  39. I'm darn near a 10. After having spoken to and read things from people who have varying levels of connection it's more than a little obvious that all stories are pretty similar. I've heard that bounds was in contact with frosts agent prior to moos being hired and got a "Yes" on interest. I've heard that moos was given the green light to secure him at any cost. The initial contract offer was substantial and the only negotiations back and forth was in regards to the structure of bonuses and automatic extensions. It's also pretty telling that for there being no less than 4 major programs doing searches and frost being the top commodity that we've heard zip as far as any types of offers or reciprocal interest from anyone but Nebraska.
