  2. I don't want them to finish 5th. I'd rather they finish 2nd, losing to us every time.

  3. Current head coaches. Transition class vs full cycle. The majority of active head coaches did better with their first full cycle than their transition class. That isn't a surprising stat, but how consistent it is across the country regardless of location and conference gets your attention. Chances are very good that Frost will bring in a recruiting class that will be in the top 20 for 2019 NSD. If that does happen, it will be +7 average spot improvement (or better) over Riley's classes. Meaning, significantly better talent would be coming to Nebraska. 4. I would rather see Minnesota step up and take Wisconsin's place while Iowa and Wisconsin fight to not finish last because screw both of them.

  5. I love this recruiting class for several reasons, but none moreso than it contains the pieces necessary to install their schemes in all 3 phases. They got bigger, more physical dbs. They got faster, more aggressive backers and edge rushers. They got a toolbox for the offense. Place kicker and returners. I believe their are even some long snappers amongst the walk-ones. So many times we see a new staff have to make due, especially on offense, and especially at QB. Frost and staff took care of that in the first hour. It's a real benefit because not only will it be easier on the players to learn the whole thing, but by knowing what they have it should make year 2 recruiting that much more targeted and efficient. The culture issue...at the end of the day it's less about coaches to players and more about players to players. Again, this recruiting class may jumpstart that. The two players I wanted the most were Martinez and Honas, because in their own ways, they are natural leaders. Martinez is a mature, vocal type. I would be surprised if he's not starting day one because he feels like a starting QB, just has that presence. Honas doesn't say anything, but he chews up barbells. He's a trend setter in the weight room and on the field.

  6. Ahhh yes, CARepublican.com, purveyor of critical breaking news that doesn't get MSM coverage, like this: But, in a rather funny twist: As of now, typing in the actual web address still redirects you to their Facebook page. More outstanding work from Nunes. How's about the bolded for some government inefficiency?

  8. So, exciting news. A project that I pitched almost two years ago, and have been working on and off on for that amount of time, has finally been officially greenlit and is becoming a thing. I'm going to be directing a feature length documentary about the history and inner workings of the Christian music industry. The tagline is, "Exploring the intersection of art, faith and profit in the Christian music industry." The response has been great so far, but the only way this really becomes reality is through support from people who care about it. AKA, we've launched a Kickstarter and are crowdfunding the whole project. if you'd like to support the project and be a part of it, no pressure, but this is just a dream project that could totally jumpstart the rest of my career Here's the kickstarter link - would love any feedback anyone has. Thanks guys! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1711839087/what-would-jesus-sell-a-badchristian-documentary

  9. 6-6 is acceptable whether anyone admits it or not. People would still be excited for 2019 and expecting big things to come, as long as our losses weren't awful. I don't think we'll go 6-6 though.

  11. 247 takes that into account. This year, USC and Clemson are ranked #4/#6 with only 19 and 17 commits. Notre Dame is at 10 with 27 commits and a .90 average, so you know it is all about quality and not just size.

  12. Frost once described his first year at UCF as "installing system and culture" and saying "we still had a couple pieces missing". I assumed he meant players, at the time. Recently he had a similar quote about Nebraska, saying there were a few pieces missing. This time I got the feeling he was talking about more abstract "pieces" like S&C, toughness, buy-in, etc. I don't think the roster is going to be a problem for HCSF. He can install the offense a lot faster than some coaches. The culture is the part that will take a couple seasons IMO. Not to say that there is a broken culture, or broken lockerroom, or anything. Just that it takes time for everyone to get on the same page. The only thing we will know for sure about year one, is that year two will be better IMO.

  16. Doesn't anyone remember the many years of Nebrasketball craptitude before Miles? I think we have more potential now than anytime in, like, forever. I think we'll make the Tourney this year. So it's a bit of a moot point. But even if we didn't, it seems like Miles has us headed in the right direction. That, and at some point you just have to pick a guy and stick with him. Tim Miles is as good as we're going to get. So it's crazy to talk about whether he'd be fired for not making the ncaa tournament this year. Crazy. /jmho

  20. Is Ozigbo being written off because he is not a 'speedy' back, or because they believe he just isn't as talented as the other backs? Oregon's spread offense has used bigger backs as the primary back in the past... Jonathan Stewart wasn't exactly a burner (although, very quick) LeGarette Blount was pegged to be the workhorse until he did what he did. Royce Freeman was a featured back while Helfrich & Frost were running the Offense. If Ozigbo has something to offer (which I believe he does) don't expect him to ride pine just because he isn't fast, shifty, flashy, etc. Frost's offense may utilize speed as it's primary asset; but I'm sure he knows the value of POWER, and power-backs.

  21. Maryland is talented and Turgeon is a pretty good coach. Miles will have his hands full. They might be 2-4 in there last 6 but they did have to play MSU/Purdue(road)/Indiana(road)/PSU(road). Stop Kevin Huerter. Taller guard. I think Palmer and him will be a good matchup. Stop Anthony Cowan- Leading scorer. Small guard. Leads team in points(not posts, like I accidentally wrote) and assists. Both Cowan and Huerter play a lot of minutes(36.7/34.1). Bruce Fernando is there freshman big. He did put up 20 against Purdue.

  27. Sort of an oddly phrased question but Staples answers it decently well. This is stuff we've been saying around here for a long time. My opinion: Frost's most important immediate goal is a return to competitiveness. You can lose 4, 5, 6, etc., games next season and it'll be acceptable if the team is playing with toughness and maximum effort. It was pretty clear that toughness and effort were questionable in the 2017 season.

  29. Not only that, but certain people here have a difficult time comprehending that under Riley/Diaco, the DLs primary job was to eat blocks so LBs could make plays. They did that by "squeezing" the pocket and keeping the QB contained within said pocket. If they got pressure as a by-product of sqeezing and containing, then bonus but "getting pressure' wasn't their job in Diaco's scheme.

  31. The husker fans mindset, "everyone on the coaching staff was horrible except parella. Parella is a Nebraska boy and Nebraska boys are never bad." Sorry, but parella didn't improve the dline and he was just as bad as the rest of the coaching staff. Just because he's a Nebraska man doesn't mean he gets exempted from being an average to below average coach.

  33. Warning...language...duh. I am soooo incredibly stoked for this film. And the off-beat way this film is being marketed, is absolutely genius. Having Deadpool play with a toy Cable and Deadpool dressed as Woody from Toy Story is hilariously subversive and blatantly gives a middle finger to Disney. Then there's the jab at DC about removing a mustache... So much more to talk about in this trailer, which brilliantly gives away nothing in terms of plot.

  34. Here's another nice thread illustrating what Krugman mentioned above. You can't claim you're investing in infrastructure AT ALL if your budget slashes $200M in transportation & utilities. More accurately they'd say "we're going to keep things exactly the same because if we don't we'd have to follow through on our own plan to cut them by $200M." Spoiler alert: Most of the programs they're proposing deep cuts to help the neediest among us (welfare, SNAP/WIC, Section 8 housing, Headstart, Social Security, the CDC...) And here's another list of programs they're proposing complete elimination of. I'm particularly PO'd, because the PSLF program is on the list, and I was going to use that to halve the number of years I'd be paying down my student debt. These people are monsters.

  36. I normally like the Hill but this is a hit piece editorial by .... Monica Crowley. Remember that Monica - the one time 'almost Trump appointee' who's nomination got derailed due to plagiarism ( Well Joe Biden lived beyond it in the political realm and I guess she is trying to do the same at the London Center for Policy Research - whatever in the world it is) But for Monica's consolation, the leader of the London Center kind of looks like Trump. But I digress. So this commentary lays out the GOP or at least the Trumpster's game plan - Monica's commentary is all about turning the table on Obama. He is the reason & the heavy hand behind every thing bad Trump is facing. I look for 2018 to be a huge clash of wills between the Mueller investigation and people like Nunes and other Trump bots trying to divert, misdirect, and derail said investigation. Notice what side has been pretty loud recently. I suspect they know the other side has a hot trail. Mueller is quiet --but quietly building a case. All of the noise is to try to drive popular opinion away from anything that might come up in the investigation. https://www.londoncenter.org/ http://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/373379-federal-abuses-a-growing-blight-on-obamas-legacy

  38. Copeland>Pitchford Watson>Webster (Freshman) Gill>Gallegos Shields was better than Roby is right now, but Roby is still pretty darn good. Palmer and Petteway are debatable. Petteway is probably a better 3-point shooter, but Palmer is so good at getting to the rim and finishing as well as getting to the free throw line. I am not saying Petteway's team was bad, I just believe this team is better that is all.

  41. Nebraska was one of those teams...so yeah...one was ultimately added. Again, RTFA. The story wasn't published until Barfknecht found a second source to confirm. So no, this wasn't some made-up tale (as you're implying) to take a shot across the bow against Texass. This was a legitimate proposal between those schools and the B1G in response to Texass bolting to the then-Pac-10 that was floated out there and accepted by all schools except aTm (who had problems with the revenue-sharing model). And considering that schools involved left (Nebraska, aTm), looked at leaving (Kansas was poised to move to the Big East before its collapse), or have concerns with the current status quo in the Big XII (Oklahoma), to suggest that this was just a "story" is wishful thinking at best. The conference already knew about Nebraska's issues with the AAU before we were accepted, Notre Dame isn't part of the AAU (and has been the object of the B1G's expansion desires for some time), and Oklahoma isn't part of the AAU and the B1G was perfectly fine with accepting them as-is back in 2010. Plus, the article Redux posted already covered this--you just need to RTFA. Bottom line, AAU accreditation is not a prerequisite for B1G membership, and to think otherwise is a fallacy.
