  1. I don't think that's quite the angle he was going for. It's more if a walk-on works his way into a starting job at OL or WR, a lot of fans will embrace that as showing the value of the walk-on tradition and rewarding the guy for his hard work. But if a walk-on were to start at QB or RB, it would be viewed as the guys we recruited at those positions being failures and a sign that our recruiting wasn't getting the job done. Edit: This was in reply to @Cdog923 and @BigRedBuster

  2. IMO, anywhere where the walk-on is clearly better than a scholarship athlete. I have no problem with Andrew Bunch starting if he's clearly better than Gebbia and Martinez.

  3. Love this mindset: "You should respect my fear that my guns will be taken away" vs. "Your fear of getting shot by guns is an aggressive act against me."

  4. For the first time in years, maybe since Martinez was under center with Helu behind him, or perhaps Suh was on the line with Gomes and Prince backing him up I’m actually intrigued to to watch them play the game. The prognosticators have generally put the Cornhuskers at 4-6 wins. The last 3-5 years I’d generally agree with their assessments of how we should finish. The paper matched the product. I’m actually excited to see the changes, the new offense and defense this season. I’ll actually watch the games with interest, win or lose. I’m feeling like the team just needs to play; on paper we are predicted to lose. On the field, I feel like we have a shot. What has been brought in as “new” over the last several seasons made me wary and not excited that the team can win or compete on paper or the field. Finally, finally I feel like what’s on paper will be far exceeded by what’s on the field. A tangible gut feeling that makes me interested to see the product, not the paper. Finally. Anyone else ready?

  5. This question baffles me. If the walk-on is the best at any position, play the walk-on. We have had walk-ons have success at just about every position in the past. If Bunch is the best QB, play him.

  8. This guy has a pretty solid list of Nebraska's walk-ons over the years. https://sites.google.com/site/nebraskafootballhistory/walk-ons Here's his All Walk-On Team, with a few of my own added in.

  9. Personally, yes. 1. He's only 3-6 months behind the learning curve. Most places he'd go he'd be 2-3 years because they aren't implementing a new offense. Also he currently runs a uptempo no huddle O, so he's use to what is currently giving our QB's (outside of Vedral) fits. I don't think he'd truely be much behind Gebbia, AMart or Bunch on the learning curve. He seems to be a very smart kid (graduating in 3 years and comes from a family that lives and breathes FB). 2. We currently don't have an eligible QB that has taken a Div1 snap. Vedral's appeal is a longshot, I think most understand that, and those who don't are sippin on Kool-Aid. It's the NCAA it could happen, but it's doubtful. Of the QB's we have: Gebbia: I think he can run this offense well, but with his frame can he be counted on to stay healthy for 12 games? Not sure. AMart: Both he and Frost have indicated he's only 90%. This kid is the future of our program, ideally I think we RS him and let him get 100% physically and mentally. Also he hasn't played a meaningful game since fall 2016. Bunch: Pretty thankful to have him on the roster to provide depth, but if he's the best QB we have we are in trouble. 3. As far as chemistry: I think Gebbia is a total competitor, I could see him staying and battling Burrow for 2 years. In this O, you need two good QB's at all times. I think AMart will understand what I mentioned above and will be ready to compete next year as a RSFr and beyond. Bunch knows he came here to give it a shot, he'd still be doing that. Vedral is living his dream and will always be a serviceable option. So basically, all imo, I think he'd be a terrific addition and really don't see any downsides. I'm actually blown away that there is much/any resistance. Not from what I read. Most of the new rules are centered around the student being able to transfer, but not follow his coach. But it is the NCAA.

  10. This will be Newsome's 3rd trip on his own dime in last 60 days. Hasn't visited anywhere else and currently has no plans to. Robinson has family in Neb. This is his 2nd visit from Zona on his own dime in last 60 days. I agree on Newsome. I think he's N by May 1. Robinson has some big boys calling that might make him tougher.

  11. After taking the time to read the article in the OP, it's pretty clear this is - sit down - yet another conspiracy theory pushed by yet another conspiracy theorist. Shocking that this is the kind of nonsense peddled by the OP. Again. But wait! This was produced by a "Clinton Pollster!" It can't be a right-wing conspiracy. Well, whatever Mr. Penn's connection with Bill Clinton 20 years ago, he's gone off the rails with this kind of thing since. Having worked with Clinton in the 1990s apparently means he's completely legitimate for the purposes of a thread like this to some people. Weird how that works. Here's an analysis of Penn's use of push polls, and you're going to be shocked at the content of the poll... The Harvard-Harris Poll Scam All these laments that people aren't discussing the OP fall on deaf ears when the content of the OP is clearly political hackery. And when that's all we're getting from a certain source in thread after thread, there's a credibility question. That's not the fault of the people who respond to these threads. That's the OP's problem, and the best way for the OP to fix it is to stop posting nonsense like this.

  14. So, funny story. Michael Cohen, Trump's lawyer, has a "very limited" practice. As in, he only has three clients in the past calendar year. One is Trump. We all knew that. Another is Elliott Broidy, former deputy finance chairman of the Republican National Committee. If you've been paying attention at all, you know this, too. But the third client, Cohen wanted to keep secret. For whatever reasons. And then the judge in his hearing said, No, you can't keep that client secret. Tell us who it is. PLOT TWIST!!!!

  15. SE and HP deserve their fair share of criticism and I will rarely defend them on football-related issues, but, even TO couldn't keep a cap on Pelini's outbursts. The tirade against Taylor Martinez at A&M was in 2010. The fair weather fan outburst was in 2011. The time Pelini hit/didn't hit a ref with his hat was in SE's first year - 2013. BP deserves some criticism for why his tenure was ultimately unsuccessful.

  16. Keep working on him and see if you can get him to change his mind. He took a trip to Iowa State, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Notre Dame. If he doesn't end up at Nebraska, and there is 8 months before December, at least it is Notre Dame and not in the B1G West. He is a stud and I would rather not face him if he isn't going to end up here. But like I said, just keep working on him and see if you can get him to come here.

  17. Riley inherited a situation so toxic that it caused him to hire incompetent assistants and fail to actually coach.

  18. Never have I heard of Callahan, Riley or Eichorst make the statement they hated any part of Nebraska. We tend to dislike people that worked here because things did not turn out right or the way we wanted. Yet the one a$$ hole that continously badmouthed Nebraska between his non hirement and his eventual hiring. Did what ever he could to torpedo the program, then becomes the head coach and leads us to some of the worst blow outs in our history and tells the fan base how bad they are and how glad he would be to move on. Sometimes I guess it is hard to tell what a snake is laying in the road. I have no hate for the three mentioned, but the fourth one can not lick the bottom of the others shoes in my opinion. Poison from day one and there was never a better day for Nebraska than when he was shown the door. Three gave a lot to this program and left graciously. The other was a richard from day one and still is today.

  19. LMAO. This is truly hilarious. So in your reality, our QB’s are better than tOSU’s right now? Lol. Man, you should do stand up!

  20. Not all QBs are made equal, so those percentages don't make sense. It all depends on how good the other QBs are. If all of Nebraska's QBs are worse than the ones Burrow's competing against at OSU, he has a better chance of being the starter here. Of course, that's not quite how it works either, because he's practiced in Meyer's offense.

  23. It sort of was. Burrow can’t beat a guy that has 18 more career passes but he should feel confident he can just come in and take a starting job at another P5 school with nothing more than 39 passes in his career? I don’t buy it. You may very well be correct. I just personally don’t see that he would have a leg up on any other QB at Nebraska currently based on that.

  26. There was a secretary or another assistant that worked for SE, that would serve as a gate-keeper for anyone who wanted to meet with SE. I am sure Eichorst told his assistant to tell Bo that he wasn't in his office anytime Bo came around to chat.

  28. While remembering how Frost played and recent comments about how he likes football players at QB as option QBs and how he wants them to be tough......I fail to think that he's going to call plays all year with the mentality of..."Oh...I have to keep my QB from getting hit".

  30. And I guess as far as the current guys in the QB room being upset, just a personal preference for me, I don't want anyone that is scared of competition as our QB. That's a major red flag. Frost has said all along he wants a big QB room; I don't think 3 or even 4 (Vedral) is what he defines as big. We need to get over the total mismanagement of the QB depth chart by our last staff, which left us having to play a QB with a broken wrist/cast. Real,/talented depth at QB is a good thing.

  32. I'd rather have Heinrich if given the choice. However, I also wonder if Hickman comes, if he's good enough for the staff to consider putting Jurgens at LB.

  33. Baker Mayfield was a walkon. Just sayin'. Also, if we're talking about Bunch - he was a 3 star prospect, with some small degree of D1 interest/offers.

  35. I really don't think we need a grad transfer right now. I like the group of Gebbia, Martinez and Bunch. All three of these QBs are excited, working hard and have bought into their chances of leading the Huskers in the fall. Then, all of a sudden you bring in a grad transfer that ends up starting, it could hurt the chemistry in the group.

  39. We are all well aware.... Why was "deep state" not an issue the past 16 years? Why was "fake" media not an issue the past 16 years? Why was "transgender in the military" not an issue the past 16 years? Why was "insert Trump 'tagline here' not an issue the past 16 years? Trump is an entertainer. Some people think he is the hero, some think he is the heel. Some think his story is a comedy, some a tragedy, some an "odyssey". This man has made a political career of making something out of nothing, for better or worse. The sad thing is, it is affecting our citizens and especially our youth. I was recently out of town with some students and we were grabbing a bite to eat. The TV in the dining room had up the illustration from Hannity about the "Mueller Crime Family" that included pictures of Mueller, Comey, and others. This kid, a high school senior, mumbled about those "tricky dems". I said, "most of the people on that graphic are Republican..." His response was something along the lines of this thread and I told him it was okay to hold whatever opinion he wanted, as long as it was at least based on fact. Calling Mueller and Comey radical, liberal, antagonist really doesn't fit reality. Sorry....

  43. Dear Everyone, I have changed my avatar from Deadpool to an actual picture of myself. Yes, that is actually me. I used a picture of myself as my avatar because I want people, especially the "anti-trans" haters to see me. And NOT in a ridiculous, selfish, look at me, instagram way. I want people, especially those who are "anti-trans" to see that: I am a human being I am NOT some bearded "man" in a dress I am NOT out to assault women or your daughters in a public restroom I am NOT seeking to destroy America and everything you hold dear I am NOT a satanist and there is NO evil, global, transgender agenda to force you, or anyone you know, to be trans or gay I DO NOT hate America My only "political agenda" is to have the same rights and protections under the law that a white, hetero, Christian male takes for granted And with respect to my picture, please don't be an a**hole and misuse it just so you can get a few laughs, or something worse... Sincerely, Marci
