  1. That article is dumb, and the writer doesn't deserve the clicks.

  2. He "liked the Riley era". That's enough for me to form an opinion on the type of person he is.

  3. If I'm being brutally honest, I think Maurice puts multiple guys in that room on the bench. He is the talent that cannot sit. If you allow me to be more brutally honest, once it clicks for him, I don't think you will see much of Mikale, Jaylin, or Ozigbo (and I like Divine a lot). Bell needs to be the guy going in. Maurice will get his touches and so will Jones. Mix in JD and Tyjon, and you start to see how guys will get left out. I like Thomas Grayson. He appears light on his feet, and is a great fit for our offense. If I compare him to Johnson, I would say they are very similar but give Johnson the nod in speed. They both appear to be great outside runners and I give Grayson the edge on the inside (tape shows more). Grayson seems to be a little better in traffic. If I compare him to Bivens, the speed looks about equal. Bivens has better agility and hip flexion. Grayson is no slouch though. He is a great fit. I'm looking forward to his senior year, and I expect the local schools to sniff around. I know I will get some backlash for this but I am disappointed with Mikale and Jaylin. Both look too big, especially Mikale. I don't think Jaylin has anything special to his game, at least for now. I know once summer workouts happen, they will become better conditioned and drop some of the fat. Still, serious talent is filling up that room, and I don't see how those guys can fend them off.

  4. There's your author defending his article. TLDR: It's all Tom's fault, Harvey did his best, and SE was a fall guy because of the fans. Unbelievable.

  5. I do get a kick out of "Hillary... continues to hang on." This sentiment is broadly held across most conservative media. It's also completely ridiculous. Yes, she happens to make the occasional public statement. It's generally results in squabbling among different groups on the left and attacks from the right. I saw a piece the other day to the effect of "The GOP has discovered their plan for 2018 midterms: Hillary Clinton." It's beyond laughably pathetic at this point. The right-wing so badly needs a boogeyman right now because they're so terrible at governance.

  7. Part of the reason I enjoy Sirius is because it's only used or has been used by a small number of major sports teams. It's not an overly common theme song whereas I've heard Enter Sandman (and a lot of the songs suggested here) at other sports venues around the country regularly. I feel like branching out to some mainstream song option is bland and unoriginal, and then it'll turn into a game of just popping around to different theme songs because now we've opened Pandora's Box. And, as I mentioned, I sort of like the balance we've struck in recent years. Scream 'Husker' and 'Power', show an edited highlight video prior to the Tunnel Walk with some new/unique song, screen goes black, fade in the familiar low bass rumble... I'm getting jacked just thinking about it.

  9. For the record the off season has officially arrived! I think Sirius is just fine and I still get goosebumps every time it comes on. Granted I only hear it during Nebraska football season. I can't remember who said it in the thread but I've always loved DJ Kool's, "Let Me Clear My Throat" and would be totally fine using that as a 4th quarter pump up song. I was at Memorial Stadium when they blasted that after the MSU win and the stadium was going bonkers. Since we're playing hypotheticals...you need something with a sick hook and zero profanity. Yes, I can hear Jimi. I'm also fine with Welcome To The Jungle. If it's good enough for The Program. It's good enough for NU!

  10. Let's just take every track suggested here and play them all at the same time. Nobody else will have our new theme song. Plus it solves the problems of style and explicit lyrics since nobody will be able to tell what's going on. We'll simply title it "Lil Red"

  12. Ew. How are Skillet still getting away with regurgitating the same butt rock junk for the last 12 years? Knapp, we don't need to change the music. We also don't need to have any music at all. Also don't need to have any videoboards.

  13. I typed up this whole rebuttal to Salt Creek & Stadium's twitter rant posted by Saunders above. Then I deleted it because none of it matters. I follow SC&C on twitter. He's a PhD candidate just about to graduate and move from academia (where he's been laboring for years) and probably out into the work world. It's a big step, I'll chalk most of this ill-advised rant up to his impending massive life changes, and move on. I agree a little bit with some of his statements about Osborne, but I disagree a lot with a lot of his conclusions about why we're where we are now. If all of this is based off Frost & the coaches responding to questions from reporters, maybe the rant should have been focused at the people who keep asking Frost & the coaches these questions.

  20. Who wouldn't like Imperial March. (I mean, if we're using dated theme music... can't go wrong with this one, really ... and bonus, we can start calling them the "Dark" shirts, instead of the black shirts)

  21. Eh, even the article admits "experience" is open to interpretation, and Hillary Clinton would still probably fit into the "in our lifetime" category. It's interesting how much weight they throw to a Governorship, which certainly has relevance in terms of administrative skill, but doesn't cover the experience of working in Washington, often a very different animal and a notorious frustration to outsiders. Interesting, too, that they hail Presidents who held multiple ambassadorships, as that would be a fraction of the experience a former Secretary of State brings to the table. The difference between being a businessman and a corporate lawyer depends on the business and the perspective, but Hillary Clinton is far from naive about how money works in this country. Again, I don't know how you could possibly overlook the unprecedented 8 years of living in the White House as the closest advisor to the President as the most relevant experience imaginable --- unless you simply want to diminish her as a woman and a wife. You know what Donald Trump calls "the biggest witch hunt of all time?" That's what Hillary Clinton calls "Tuesday." And again, I ended up holding Hillary Clinton's experience against her. I wanted someone a lot fresher.

  28. Frost is someone who passionately loves this state and this football program. Like a lot of us, he's disappointed with the last 20 years of Nebraska football. He knows a lot more than most of us about how all of that went down, who made the mistakes and why they made them. So you put a microphone in front of that guy and ask him questions about it, he's going to express that passion. People can quibble over the words he used, but bottom line is, everyone says things ineloquently, or more pointedly than they intend, all the time. Maybe that's how he really feels. Maybe that's only part of the quotes and we're missing a lot of context. Maybe there's not a lot more to any of it than that.

  30. The defensive front played on McQuitty's TD is actually a difficult look for this concept. Frontside drops flat to take away the back and backside is in a wide 7 tech. That's only 3 rushers, but because of defensive concept you get a good speed rush to the outside with no help and wasted blockers on the frontside. This play, on both sides of the ball, is why I thought the spring game was great. Got some good looks on tape. There are details all over this play that need correcting, but they're mostly just that...details. We look competent, on what is a very interesting set of calls on both sides.

  32. It's a smart rule. The dumb thing is that truckers get paid by the mile, not by the hour, so they fudge their log books if there's a delay (like an accident slowing traffic or a mechanical breakdown) even though they're on the clock. This leads to driver fatigue, which leads to accidents. If employers paid truckers by the hour, they would be less inclined to lie on their log books, and we'd have safer roads. Source 1 Source 2 Of course, truckers are among the first jobs that will be replaced by automation when driverless rigs become safe enough to hit the highways, so this shortage will only last as long as that takes to implement.

  35. I am not sure that either coach really has put much thought into Nebraska at this point in the year, but I was serious when I said I love the enthusiasm. I am going to guess Nebraska will be a lot more competitive vs OSU this year, and I am going to assume there will be a lot more Nebraska fans in the Shoe this year compared to past years.

  38. Seemingly every year this topic comes up, and every year people post clips of terrible ideas for a tunnel walk song. Short of Enter Sandman, Hell's Bells, or Thunderstruck (all of which are older than the players now) you aren't going to find a long enough intro or family friendly enough lyrics to work. As was mentioned, you pretty much need to have someone create a song exclusively for the tunnel walk.

  39. Great stuff @Mavric. Appreciate you posting. Nu is in great hands with Frost and Co. Honest (brutal at times), but SOOOO refreshing. I love it. If the fans and media are hearing these expectations, I can imagine what the team is hearing.

  40. Ahhh yes, Kanye and Trump boldly leading us into the great unknown... If I saw some random douche posting the non-Trump stuff above on social media, I wouldn't give it a second thought. I used to post random crap like that trying to seem deep and thoughtful. Looking back I realize I was just stringing random bits together that seemed cool to me at the time. It seems incredibly lame to me in hindsight. I see it in Facebook memories and laugh at myself. As for the Trump stuff... does anyone care how much Kanye and Trump love each other?

If you're going for an extended period of time to a non 1st world country make sure you have good health insurance. Make sure you know what time you are landing local time and try to acclimate yourself as much as possible so that you don't completely crush yourself with jet lag. 42. Frost's offense may have a featured back, but there won't be a "workhorse". I think they'll get three if they can. Frost wants to change the RB room and change it fast.

  43. Look-- the goal for these sideshow attractions is to bolster fan enthusiasm, especially in the younger set. Let's face it--the Alan Parsons Project (in music or moon/death laser form) is played out, trite, and boring AF. I know it, the kids know it, Frost knows it, the AD office knows it. Honestly, Frost should just select something else, and if people don't like it, he can remind them he's the head coach and to STFU (in a polite and courteous fashion). It's high time we change it, and if people don't want to have it changed, make it an executive coaching decision--this way, if Frost wins a championship, people will let the argument die and we can go about our business discussing more important things, like what our alternative threads will look like this year.

  44. I am not saying that Russia was great from 1989 to 2012. Just saying that the level of Russia as an international power greatly changed in 2014. There was a lot of building to it, through Putin, but 2014 was an major boiling over of things that were largely veiled until then. Russia had a lot to put back together even as Putin first came to power/how he came to power. 2014 demonstrated how he had successfully made Russia a entity resembling the former Soviet Power it was before.
