  2. This is one of the things we talked about in what became the Scott Frost Megathread. He's so good at staying on message that not only will his coaches do it but so eventually will the players. Some people say interview and press conferences are useless, and I see their point, but that's our insight into the day to day. It's not what they say that's interesting, it's how they go about presenting it. If they're lost and befuddled up there, they're often lost and befuddled in other parts of the program.

  3. My wife never has liked Trump. But, she got tired of me bitching about him so I stopped really talking about Trump around her. She wasn't quite at the disdain level I was at. Well, this morning, she said...."I've learned something from Trump. I used to think that the President really didn't do much. He was more of a figure head and other people in the government did everything.....well....now I know one person can screw up so many things."

  4. Probably because Omaha and Lincoln have events with these people all the time. This tour is for smaller communities in outstate Nebraska that don't get them often.

  9. A few years back I was at the Husker-Goofs game here in MN. My nephew, dad, and I were standing for the beginning of the game until some jack wagon called security on us. The crazy part is it was Husker fans that called security! We sat down and then stood back up a short time later and this guy went absolutely bats#!t crazy. The Goofs fans were rolling laughing at him yelling at us. I finally said we are on the same team. I moved to the the Goofs section and had a good time with them. We also just razzed this dude's group and finally a couple of them came to their senses. It was unreal to get into an argument with Husker fans at an AWAY game...can't make it up I guess!

  13. He was probably a great asset to Alvarez at Wisconsin and Alvarez thought he would make a great AD. SE probably did a lot of s#!t work that Alvarez didn't like doing and probably did it very well. It doesn't make you a leader though. You can't lead from behind a closed door.

  14. This kid was a 4* OLB recruit. Yes, we care. We care more when they show interest in us. :-) Welcome to the board by the way. You are just 60 posts in so far that you have made ... hang around a bit and you will get the flow. Recruiting is about the only thing I follow in here. I've found I can't go into many other forums or I discover so many tangent issues that divide the fan base.

  15. I can't post enough of these or these to express my disgust with what Trump is doing wt our friends and how he reaches out to Russia. If there was ever an Manchurian president, it is him. His comments over the weekend alone should prove collusion.

  16. I have absolutely no doubt that this photo plays well with Trump's base of Americans that have supported him all along. I just don't get it. I'm wondering how this all is going to play with farmers. in the last 30 days, corn has lost 8.4% and beans have lost 7.6%.

  17. I chuckle at Scarmucci being on Fox as some type of expert as "Former WH Communications Director". Wasn't he in that position something like one week? That's a pretty good gig. Spend a week there, don't even get your office unpacked. Get fired.........make bank for years to come as an expert.

  18. Running is not going well. Mostly because I'm not a runner, and because running is the devil. But I've got a 5K route planned for this evening, and while I'll probably die doing it, I'm going to do it.

  19. One problem with running the two lists as a dichotomy like this is we get a sense of who the best QBs in program history are but we leave out an extremely important QB: Brook Berringer. The 95 Huskers are often regarded as the best college football team of all time and Tommie Frazier is often regarded as the best QB in school history. Berringer was so good in 94 heading into 95 that Nebraska started the season splitting reps at QB. There was a legitimate QB battle that spring. He challenged Frazier that hard in an offense that clearly played more to Frazier's strengths. What it did was make Frazier a better QB. Berringer was a far better passer and had such command of the offense he could overcome not being the playmaker as a runner. Frazier had to show he could be as effective as a passer, his weakness, as Berringer was a runner. I'm not posting this to claim Berringer was the greatest Husker QB of all time. I am posting it to claim he's one of the most important, at least enough to have a place on the list.

  21. I hate to be that guy, but... Alex Smith Tim Tebow Braxton Miller J.T. Barrett Even coached up Cardale Jones to play, and win, the biggest games of the season. I do agree I’d rather play for Frost than Harbaugh, as a QB prospect. But as as of right now, the Big Ten has a QB Whisperer, and he wasn’t listed as a choice in that poll.

  22. @Mavric @Moiraine I agree with what both of you said. I've been on huskerboard since solich. Frost is being given a lot of Golden Boy Messiah good graces right now. And that's cool too, I'm hopeful. There has been a running narrative for years now through multiple coaches. They can recruit but not develop but this new coach will get it right. Or these recruits are Diamonds in the Rough. Or this is the year we get a top 10 class. Or at least they're getting top talent to visit . It always ends up the same. I think because of his history with Nebraska there is a reason to believe that Frost frost can be successful. But the narrative remains.

  27. It's not just that - it's how he doesn't even have to stop to think about any question he's ever asked. And it's not like his answers are rehearsed/canned - smooth and genuine. (Or it just seems that way to me at least.) You can just tell he thinks faster than most people.

  36. There is a connection, seeing as Nebraska offered him. People try to update every single player that Nebraska has offered, and have been doing so for years. People do care (in addition to the ones that update the threads) since there are votes for every player on which school they end up at.

  38. This is tough. I'm voting for Zac Taylor. Tagge was great, but he had a much better supporting cast around him than Taylor did. If I had a second vote, it would probably go to Claridge. He did a yeoman's job to help Devaney build the program in those early years.

  39. That rivals writer suggests an 8-4 season, and I postulate it could be a lot worse. It's easy to understand why 8 wins; take the 10 last year and chop off a couple to account for the tougher schedule. The problem is that 10 win team didn't put up the performance metrics of a 10 win team, they got there by winning several close games. That already suggests a strong possibility for a sharp downturn the next year. The opening set of games are deceptively tricky when you consider how poor the offense for Northwestern may be the first month. At Purdue and then home to Duke is not as easy as it sounds. Brohm has Purdue set up to make a year 2 jump. They may not show it in an increase in wins as last year's team was slightly overrated, but they will in performance, regardless of QB. Duke will have enough offense to pose a threat, as they tend to play some of their best ball early season. Akron is pretty poor. 1-2 is possible before the two Michigan games and then Nebraska. By midseason break, otherwise known as Rutgers, it's not a stretch to suggest Northwestern is 1-5. The order of the games this season does Northwestern no favors. Sure, Minnesota and Illinois look like very likely wins now, but they are in the final two weeks. They play their final 9 games without a bye, and if the season trends downward early, those could snowball into unexpected losses. 7 or 8 wins are certainly plausible, but I'm suggesting no one should really be surprised if it is only 3 or 4 wins.
