  1. I mean, how hypocritical would it be to separate children from their parents at the border while being on a human rights council? Better stop doing one so we can have our conscience cleared.

  2. Diaco's soft, scared, passive, and play the CBs 10 yards off the line of scrimmage had more to do with that than anything else.

  3. There was no pass rush because Diaco coached the defensive lineman to play contain and not rush the passer. So that's still the same problem. Just with one more degree.

  7. I rescued a baby robin this morning. There's a nest of robins in a tree branch just outside our second story bathroom. Robins nest there every year. This morning there was a ruckus out there at around 5:00 am. A bunch of birds squawking. I looked out and could see several birds flying around a robin's nest. They seemed to be attacking each other. When I went outside a little bit later part of the robin's nest was on the patio, along with a baby robin. I think blue jays tore the a chunk out of the nest and dumped the baby robins out. They might have carried off one or two other baby robins, because there is usually more than one. Anyway I was watering some flowers and doing a bit of yard work while it was still cool morning, and all the while the two adult robins were hopping around all agitated about their baby sitting there on the patio. I kept my distance to see what would happen because robins (or any bird for that matter) generally won't accept their own baby if you pick it up or mess with it. They'll just abandon it. But this baby robin was far to young to fly yet, and I figured it wouldn't survive down on the ground. So I got out a ladder, put on some work gloves, and carefully put the baby robin back in its nest. After that the two adult robins calmed down, and were hanging around the nest. I don't think they'll abandon the baby robin, even though I picked it up. Hopefully the blue jays won't be back. edit: Tonight when I got home from work one of the adult robins was sitting on the nest. So I guess they didn't abandon the baby robin.

  11. At first i thought Frosts low ranking was wrong, until i looked at the list of coaches in our league, wow . I think at this point, the above list is about right. That being said I wouldn't trade Frost for any of the others. I think hes the perfect fit here, and in a few years, i could easily see him being top 3 .

  12. Coach Reggie Davis: It is tough to get complete backs to commit to DONU. Coach Held: Hold my beer! Dude is doing work. Completely changing that RB room in a hurry. Lots of speed and versatility seen from the guys they have targetted. Looks like Frost and Co. are serious about wanting to be able to run the football.

  13. Don't expect him to play this year. In my opinion of course, but the big thing is getting him on campus for the academic redshirt year. If we do that we should be fine.

  18. Three States of California So the proposal is to split California into 3 separate states. The article mentioned that it was done previously with the creation of West Virginia. There are also, according to the article, provisions within the US Constitution which allows for this. Questions I have: 1) Will splitting California into three states give them more electoral votes overall? 2) If California voters pass this, would Congress approve? 3) If this happens, will other states look to split? 4) Does splitting a state into two or more smaller states mean better economies or is it basic tribalism (only wanting to be around people who look and think like you do)? 5a) Why is this billionaire Silicon Valley guy so adamant about splitting California? 5b) What's his true goal/end game/motivation (because I sincerely doubt it is for the betterment of the average person)? 5c) How does this guy stand to financially benefit from this potential splitting? Thoughts?

  22. Not from Friday Night Lights but just sticking this here. It's from the June 11th camp, made by a parent of one of the attendees. There's a little speech by Frost at 9:45 about keeping the GPA high, and about how the coaches will look at their social media before considering recruiting them.

  28. That's one of the biggest issue that needs to be figured out with globalization. How to normalize wages/labor costs, and make subsidized industries more equal. If Trump we're actually a smart man he would be trying to figure that out rather than throwing a tantrum. Yes, I said globalization. No, it's not stopping, you protectionists, despite Trump's best efforts. The world will march forward without us. Progress, while sometime taking steps backwards will always be net forward.

  30. Here is my take on the Blackshirt thing. We all know the history. In practice, the coaches needed a way to distinguish the 1st team from 2nd team units etc. So the 1st team got the "Black shirts" and others got different colors. Simple, makes sense. So here comes the debate: do you just give the black shirts to the starters as was done in the beginning, or do you regard the black shirt as some type of honor bestowed on only those deemed worthy? Coaches and fans have come down on both sides of this issue. But here is the deal: 1st, the coaches have to be good enough to turn out a 1st team capable of top 10 national play. If they can do this, and give the Black shirts to that #1 unit, we are back to where this whole thing started. If you can earn a starting spot for Charlie McBride & Co. then yes, you are a Blackshirt, and by Golly, you deserved it. Practices were so hard, that the games were easy. The jersey was earned in practice, not the games, though it could be lost. So how to handle the "Blackshirt" thing? It is moot if the coaches aren't focused on the right things and demanding enough. But if the coaches ARE focused on the right things, following through with development of those things, and demanding enough of excellence, then earning (and continuing to earn) a starting spot justifies the shirt.

  32. Great to see a back like this join the team. As far a comparing recruiters I think it’s hard to be certain because getting kids to the Riley loss factory was probably challenging and getting worse. That said these coaches are doing great.

  33. What did Davis actually do here? (Although I'm partly being sarcastic as i know what his role was SUPPOSED to be, just never saw much in the way of recruiting or development of his position group). All Hail Held!

  34. I get the feeling that Ronald is going to be in a more traditional role. The other two guys fit the duck position better imo. He could be used in that role but I imagine he's going to be the more of an inside runner. He is built extremely well.

  38. I found this post very interesting. I hate Wisky ... but they have copied the Husker model and over the past few years under Chryst have gone 10-3, 11-3 and 13-1, winning every bowl game ... AND THEY HAVE THE 8TH BEST COACH IN THE B1G ... now that would offend me if I was a Wisky fan. :-)

  39. It's kinda odd. We, as fans, have talked about lack of accountability on the team for some time. But, in our own lives, do most of us hold co-workers who are slacking off "accountable?" I would say most of us do not. Because no one wants to be the disliked co-worker. Same applies for these young men on the Nebraska football team--no one wants to be disliked in the locker room. But it is great to hear the issue being recognized as a problem and now being addressed.

  40. Fortunately not all Evangelicals support Trump - hopefully a greater move away from Trump will materialize. I've come to believe that the greatest thing to happen to the Republican party over the last 50 years was the Moral Majority. I've also come to believe that the worse thing to happen to the church of Christ in the USA is the Moral Majority. While I may hold to one of the major tenets of the Moral Majority - Pro life - it has, as a whole, corrupted the Christian message in the USA and has politicized the church. Ironically, the church has thrived (as in spiritual growth and not necessarily in numerical growth) and fulfilled its mission best when it was 'not at the political table' and even more so when it was under persecution. https://www.vox.com/identities/2018/4/12/17216258/lynchburg-rally-red-letter-revival-shane-claiborne-jerry-falwell-jr-liberty-university Between these quotes the article talks at length about Liberty Univ - how it shuts down free speech of those evangelicals that oppose Trump. - Made me think - I wonder how Turner Gill is responding to this environment - as their football coach. As an African American evangelical - I would think he would have some concerns wt Liberty becoming defacto Trump Univ. See statement about black evangelicals in this quote: The bold line below is really important. The gospel isn't politics. Jesus said render to Cesar that which is Cesar's and to God that which is God's. The church's responsibility is to the 'least of these'. It doesn't mean we (the church) don't have a voice in the public marketplace of ideas but rather that isn't our primary calling. The good news isn't political dominion (See dominion movement https://www.politicalresearch.org/2016/08/18/dominionism-rising-a-theocratic-movement-hiding-in-plain-sight/ It is that which is spoken of in Luke 4: 18-19 "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor "
