  1. So I wanted to share my good deed for the week. I was at work and stepped out for a smoke... And i noticed a dude in his early 20s pushing a stroller wearing shoes that were coming apart at the seams. I stopped him to try to figure out what type of person he was. I noticed his son was properly dressed and the stroller happened to be a higher end stroller. So he goes on to say his son is his world and he doesn't have the time or money to worry about his self or his appearance because his son gets all of his attention and extra money he has. Now I'm thinking, this is a good dude and i want to help this man out. I reach into my pockets, pulled out 2 wads of cash, removed the rubber bands, and then i gave him the rubber bands to help him hold his shoes together. Good karma coming my way soon! Stay humble!

  2. This story went by the wayside a bit, but it's back in the public eye again thanks to a very odd arrest in Ohio. Seems Ms. Daniels does stripping when she isn't cavorting with the likes of Donald Trump, and this allegedly happened: Because, apparently, it's unusual for a stripper to touch clients in Ohio. There's a law on the books prohibiting this, actually. It hasn't been enforced in ten years. Which leads to questions, like this one: As noted in the tweet above, charges against Ms. Daniels were thrown out today.

  5. For Trump: NATO Allies who have stood by us for decades (and many for centuries) = Bad North Korea, who has killed 100,000's of American servicemen and is actively flouting American peace efforts = Good Way to go, MAGA folks. This is your president.

  6. I'd rather have a guy who can find creases and can make himself small in a pile of defenders. Rex Burkhead was amazing in short-yardage situations by doing this.

  8. Players have a knack for parroting what the coaches say to them. I've heard enough talk about how things are improving for the past I don't know, too many years. I'll buy in to what the players say when I see something of substance on the field. I place more importance on what the coaches say. I feel once they get the right players they'll have success since they've already shown that ability.

  9. Was this sarcasm? I couldn't tell. You've got the saying wrong first of all, it's "no news is good news." We could be hearing about arrests, hospitalizations, fights, etc. No news seems more like they are focused and aren't exactly looking for attention right now. I like it. I'd much rather go into the season underrated than overrated. Also, I like to hear team news, but I completely understand the desire to push all the reporters out for awhile. The coaches have work to do and they don't need unnecessary distractions.

  12. Just having the DL do something besides take up space and having the CBs not playing ten+ yards off the ball should make the talent look a whole lot better. The DL in particular, I think we've got the horses if we actually USE them.

  13. Note that what they did is based off personnel and opposition. Blitzing inside guys, for instance, is hard to do against the schemes they commonly faced. You also aren't as likely to rush those guys if you have a dominant outside guy, like Griffin. Maybe for Nebraska the inside guys, like a Honas or Weinmaster, are better rush threats and weaker in coverage. Maybe this defensive line is a little quicker and allows for more inside games and stunts. This staff has talked quite a bit about their backers and safeties being able to drop or go as necessary. We also didn't see them play offenses like Minnesota/Wisconsin/Iowa/Michigan St/Michigan. The quality of offense is better in the AAC, but I think there is more diversity of style in the Big Ten right now.

  14. Frost or Chinander could fart in to a microphone and people would praise it. Things were so awful last year that we will take anything and start printing championship shirts. I am not saying we wont be loads better, because it seems like we should be, but lets just cool our jets. Plenty of people were excited about Diaco and look how that turned out. The major concern going in was the idea of transitioning to a new defense and that is going to happen yet again. I get the conditioning/tackling/scheme should all be better but lets not forget Diaco was a major success at Notre Dame. Sometimes you just dont have the players. I am as excited for Husker football as I have ever been but what happens if we go out and get smoked the first few weeks? Do people turn on Chinander the way they did with Diaco or because he is a frost guy do we give him a ton of leash? Ok.. I am done being a debbie downer.. Just think we need to level set expectations and not get overly excited by a few flashy words.

  15. While we may not have "proven" talent this year, by year's end I have a feeling we will see that some stars have emerged. This defense isn't nearly as devoid of talent as some would suggest.

  16. YIKES. I am in HR. I do all the hiring and so I can tell you that lady is messing up big. Technically you would have a potential case since you quit your other job in good faith and you met their background requirements. I suggest emailing the HR gal and keep everything in writing just in case. While you might have a leg to stand on, might not be worth your time however reputation is big for companies. If this falls through I would broadcast it on Google, Glassdoor and Indeed in the reviews of a company. It is not ok what she is doing in the slightest. Education verification is not usually a game changer for us unless we have concerns. It is technically a way to decline someone, but also not something that is a "no-go" like a Felony could be. That varies by company. I suggest going to the office and asking to speak with either HR gal or potentially her Manager for an updated. If you have have the managers email and know the HR gals name, you might be able to figure out her email address. Reputation for companies is huge. While it might not be worth going down the legal route, you did technically quit a job in good faith and you followed through on all your requirements. Feel free to message me if you have more specifics. This is what I do day in and day out. While companies vary, I am happy to share my thoughts. If this is how they treat there employees, you might want to getting a new job either way.

  18. This type of crap would get you fired from a Dunkin' Donuts. What an embarrassment. It never ceases to amaze me what people are willing to excuse from our president that they wouldn't accept from a teenager making minimum wage in a part-time position. Drunk Uncle rules! That bit is hilarious. I miss Moynihan on SNL.

  21. That a person can look at those votes and think the problem is truly "both sides" explains why we're where we are. "Both sides" are not equally at fault. If the litmus test is "I can find gray area in a few of these votes..." ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  30. The tariffs are hitting some people hard. Examples are the ones that need to buy imported aluminum and steel. Farmers aren't being hit hard yet with the nose dive of commodity prices because the crops are still in the field. Some have already forward sold their crops before the nose dive. The rest won't feel the pain till they actually sell their crops this winter. The economy actually is doing very well and it's not just at the Wall Street level. This good economy started building about 8-9 years ago. We have seen it continue over 18 months of the Trump administration. The fear is that what he is doing with tariffs and trade will eventually destroy what has been building. Companies buy back stock for a few different reasons. You bring up some good points in that they usually do it when they feel the stock is undervalued and have extra cash. Consider it like paying down a line of credit. If they have a big project in the future or need to raise capital because of hard times, they need to have stock to sell. So, many companies will buy back stocks in times like this so they have the reserve of stocks to sell in the future. Hopefully, they buy them back at a relatively cheap price. I'm not as outraged about the stock buybacks as some because I look at it as a normal financial transaction companies use to secure their ability to raise capital when needed. We are also seeing wages rise due to the tight labor market. You gotta love Republican's fiscal conservatism....don't ya???

  31. The tariffs are already hitting folks hard, and the only reason the economy is doing well at the Wall Street level is primarily because of all of the companies buying back their stock...kind of like they know something we don't about what's going to happen in the near future, fiscally-speaking. In short, I would be shocked if we don't see a significant dive by this September or October (2018).

  35. This is one of the things we talked about in what became the Scott Frost megathread. I believe we even posted some videos. Amazing watching Riley's postgame and then listening to his players in comparison. When you win by 40 and your players are talking about correcting mistakes, you know you have something.

  44. https://ucf.rivals.com/news/scott-frost-press-conference-maryland-week Watch this press conference prior to the Maryland game. Even at Oregon he spoke like this, not just like a coach, but like a head coach. Great demeanor, understands the media's role. Honest, humble, and forthright. These are things that are common to other press conferences he's had over the years, but this one is of course different because of Irma's tremendous impact on that program. Notice his priorities in life, even in the already stressful life of a college coach. If you want a guy that represents Nebraska and all of those intangibles we like to say collegiate athletics are about...

  45. Sorry JJ, but what the hell are you talking about? First of all, obviously, the rationale for Frost is that he's the best option when you combine the factors of potential, results, and the "realisticness" of coaches coming here. He's the best option by a long shot. Why? His resume is almost picture perfect w/ success and growth, he's young, would publicly get a ton of attention and praise, is a former player, and has the closest you can get to a "sure bet" as far as his resume goes. Second of all, when you're an AAC school with an AAC budget, history, facilities, and name recognition, then you compete on that level. He's dominating that level. Did anyone doubt Chris Petersen was an amazing coach because Boise wasn't the caliber of a traditional blue blood? He's currently maximizing the potential of that program, (thus far) more than anyone else in history ever has. Third of all, what's the problem with his style of offense? I mean the results of his offense obviously work (#4, #4, #5 national ranks in PPG in his three years as Oregon's OC, #1 in the nation at UCF this year), and he runs a balanced, power spread. Again, even if you just happen to really personally enjoy the triple option or something, what's the issue when all of the data points say that Frost's offensive scheme is elite and incredibly successful?
