  4. Yes and no. I don't argue with anything you posted. But it's also true that we spent the last three years running an offense that has almost completely vanished from the college game. So in that sense, we "haven't changed" from what a lot of schools were doing 20 years ago. Given the following comments about Frost's offense - although they didn't necessarily come from the same person - I think that's another way to look at it. I've thought for years that something along these lines was a lot of the problem with Nebraska fan's tenancy to over-rate the success we should be having. Part of it is just being a fan. But I think a lot of it was the timing of how everything worked out for us. We had SUCH an incredibly great run of success it came to be expected every year. And when we fell, it was seen by many as a blunder of a coach firing/hiring and it should be an easy fix. Obviously the hiring/firing played into it. But I think the larger picture went unnoticed by many - that scholarship limitation and TV money changed the game such that it wasn't 6-8 schools that could just maintain a stranglehold on dominance for years on end. The talent and competitiveness got spread out over a lot more teams but we didn't notice it as much because of the failings of our own team. When we got back on track, we didn't realize that winning 9-10 games every year and being in the CCG every other year was actually a pretty big accomplishment. After we fell hard on our face again, perhaps we'll finally have a bit better perspective on things. And I think running an offense that brings us up to the cutting edge will have a lot to do with that. I personally have thought for a long time that's the type of offense that we should be running. We had good success with a poor-man's version of it a few years ago. Now that we have the Cadillac version, I think we'll like it.

  5. You're doing it wrong. It's supposed to say "Ohio State sucks, who can we steal?"

  7. Ozigbo has nothing on Burkhead. You can't possibly watch them both and think he does.

  9. Yeah, but 84 loves the big, slow back in Ozigbo.

  10. In this thread: Arguments are made for Ozigbo by discounting Wilbon because he's not a "speed" back. Comparisons are mad between Ozigbo - who literally has no moves and is probably third-sting at best on his college team - to Burkhead, who was great at jump-cutting sideways to make guys miss and plays a significant role for his NFL team Tre Bryant - who had over 300 yards rushing in two games last year - is noted as "showing some flashes" The guys who is easily our slowest back is said to "hit the hole as fast as anyone" Gotta love it

  20. I've spoken very highly of this offense (I absolutely love it), but the key isn't running this offense, it's running an offense. I have no idea what Langs was doing. Beck and Watson ran a mish-mash hybrid to suit whatever they had at the time. Frost will and has said that it isn't a collection of plays he has, it's a system. It's a means for communicating and organizing ideas that allows for remarkable flexibility. Those other coaches didn't really have that and consequently those offenses didn't hold up under scrutiny.

  25. http://www.espn.com/espnradio/play?id=24256862 Brett is on the Finebaum show. You can tell this story bothers him and he's taking it personally. He also claims that he has hundreds of texts and dozens of pics, not just what he's posted. He said everything is sourced. Texts. Pics. Not a single anonymous source. He told Courtney Smith that he would not post anything that wasn't verified, and that's what got her to open up. He said he left out quite a bit that pains Smith as a POS but he didn't feel like it was illegal or impeachable. He said he knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that every single coach and their wives were aware of the abuse going on. Some of these people were with Urban when he was at Utah and even prior to that. He said Urban not knowing what happens requires you to believe that everyone that knows Urban and works with him was universally aware of this and simply didn't tell him. *Taken from reddit, but I recommend listening to Brett on the Finebaum show

  27. Under title 9 he should have been reporting to proper authorities since 2009. The 2015 incident was also mandatory for both he and his wife Shelley to report to proper authorities. It is in direct violation of tOSUs title 9 handbook.

  28. Ohio State can move on without Urban Meyer. They showed as much getting Meyer post Tressell. Meyer isn’t untouchable and the athletic department and school will not shake this if they retain him. Every other program is already thinking of ways to spin the negative recruiting. Gotta consider what is going through the minds of parents of daughters who just attend OSU and know that a school won’t protect them from a player because Urban protects the player. Then think about the moms he talks to on the recruiting trail. The university can move on, but Urban Meyer won’t. buhbye

  29. I wonder if the kicker isn't Urban's denial recently. If he hadn't said anything and this came out, you could go for some sort of "we did internal discipline/forced him to do counseling" that might let it slide by. But now it looks like he was blatantly lying to cover it up. That doesn't play nearly as well.

  30. This is... such an odd story. LINK To be honest, I'm in no way sad to see this account blow up like this (even though some people think it's a hoax). Although they often provided a modicum of entertainment, and could be seen as a public safety tool, the last couple of months are not the first time the account made questionable decisions. I stopped following them two years ago because they would routinely pick childish fights with local journalists and then hide behind their anonymity. There's also something to be said about relying on trained professionals for information versus a handful of anonymous people listening to police scanners 24/7. The article referenced one instance of them releasing information that could've put officers at risk but there were others. I know some of the contributors and they're not bad people, so I do feel bummed for them, but I'm otherwise not disappointed.

  36. I posted this in a status update. It was already established that Urban knew, I am assuming the school knew, and there were tweets about it from elevenwarriors before Urban knew spoke about it at Big Ten media days.

  37. How is it in Oklahoma? To register to vote in Nebraska you need to supply either a valid photo ID or proof of residence through a utility bill or something similar. Then, when you vote, you state your name and address. They find your registration in the roll and assign you a number and you provide the signature. If you are not on the roll, they can assign you a provisional ballot that will face scrutiny. I just don't see how a "picture" would make things better, at least in Nebraska. If a person wanted to steal my vote, they would need to know my address and polling place and cross their fingers that I wasn't already there to sign the book. Seems like a big risk for ONE vote. At least in Nebraska.

  38. Going from decades of a legendary staff and system to the watered down less disciplined version of the same thing hurt. Throwing that watered down version in the trash and hiring a flashy new AD that wanted to completely change everything and hire a totally different guy with a totally different system hurt a lot. Hiring a hard nosed guy helped for a bit. Changing conferences with him and him refusing to adapt and hire a strong staff that could recruit for him hurt. Firing angry hard nosed guy and hiring a guy who was respected for winning half the time but was at retirement not give a s#!t or full effort age and wasn't capable of winning at a Nebraska type level even during his best year......hurt.....a lot.

  40. This is why you have to take these comments with a grain of salt. Nebraska has changed A LOT since 1999. Bill Byrne left, Steve Pederson came, Osborne became the AD, then Shawn Eichorst, and finally Bill Moos. That's a new AD every four years, on average. For coaches, you've got Solich, Callahan, Pelini, Riley and now Frost. A new coach every five years, on average. I can't even remember all the Offensive & Defensive Coordinators and all their systems. Shawn Watson, Tim Beck, Jay Norvell. I am blanking on Riley's OC. Defensive Coordinators were Pelini, McBride for a while, Diaco, Banker... other guys... and now Chinander. Each Head Coach, OC & DC brought different nuances to Nebraska, just like each AD. So... you can't just say "Nebraska hasn't changed." We have. Maybe not the right changes, but can't/won't change isn't our problem.
