  1. McMurphy changed 'his story' because the police department changed their report. Can you point me to all of this stuff that is beyond domestic violence and the 'witch hunt'. I'm not trying to be dense I really haven't seen any of this other stuff. I've only seen things put out trying to discredit Courtney Smith to keep Urban.

  3. Please provide sources for Congressional Democrats who are running on a platform of open borders. Or provide sources for Congressional Democrats who have introduced legislation that would open America's borders. Or provide sources for Congressional Democrats whose policies have had/would have a net result of creating open borders. Without sources for any of these claims, they all fall under Hitchen's Razor.

  12. I think this is being a bit over-dramatic and kind of talking about a different situation. If you're looking for an entire weekend experience, then it probably doesn't really matter because you're going to travel on Friday (either flying or driving) so that you have time to eat out and enjoy the city on Saturday before traveling back Sunday. So you're probably not caring about the distance as much. If you're mainly just trying to go to the game - either as a day trip or a quick overnight on one end or the other - distance is much more of a factor.

  14. Do you realize your hypocrisy? Literally all rich people do is benefit and take for their own, the fruits of other people's labor. But in your selfish, I'm a rich white republican view, everybody owes you. You're entitled to wealth and the fruits of everyone else's labor and F the poor people who made you rich. This is why....I won't finish that thought.

  16. You made the claim and are unable to defend it. That link is just a collection of quotes by Schumer. Feel free to cite the ones that support your claim. Of course, knapplc is pointing out Schumer's voting record and not just out-of-context quotes, so you'll want to find better than that.

  17. Shifting from one logical fallacy to another (from "argument from ignorance" - where you try to shift the burden of proof to "relevancy fallacy" + an ad-hominem attack- where you cite with schumer's statements and voting record as indefensible ) doesn't prove your point, on the contrary, it proves how weak the arguments you make are because you aren't capable of backing up things with sources that have any sort of factual basis or evidence.

  18. I asked you to show proof of your claims. Instead of fact, you posted the first opinion piece you googled. That piece doesn't obviate the facts of his actual record. If you can find in the facts of his voting record where your claims are supported, we'll all be very impressed. You made the claim. Support it with facts, not opinion.

  19. Any way you slice it, this dude was fired for having an opinion. It's surely not a politically popular opinion to express in THIS government, but an opinion nonetheless. No one has found it affected his work and he's denied that it did. But he was fired nonetheless. Presumably because the president either believes a conservative fever dream about a malevolent deep state out to get him or because he just wanted to be vindictive and punish him for his opinion. So he either buys into netball conspiracy theories or he's a small, petty man. Or both. This is something that should bother people.

  22. How about if we start by not demonizing immigrants as all violent criminals, rapists, murderers for political gains and racist votes? THEN...how about if we have an actual meaningful discussion about who is not working in this country and who is not paying taxes, and why? If people take their political brains out of the discussion.....the answers might surprise people.

  23. Before Donald Trump, Barack Obama was known in the Hispanic community as "the deporter-in-chief" because of what was then perceived as his aggressive immigration policies. Studies have shown that Mexican and Central American immigration is significantly lower than it was a decade ago, that illegal immigrants are putting more into the American economy than they are taking out, and that relatively few voters or policy makers have considered it a pressing issue prior to the recent election. A 2,000 mile border wall, the new layer of government oversight and spending, are the heated rhetoric are the exact opposite of what we need. So I think the Democrat alternative is about the right amount of serious.

  24. Both parties (OMG.....I said it) have had ample time over the last number of decades to fix immigration and have failed miserably. Problem is, this administration is totally failing it too. Sure, they want a "secure border". But, what are they planning on doing with illegal immigrants in the US now and have been for decades? What are they doing to fix legal immigration so that it's easier for legitimate people wanting to come to this country to work hard and better their lives? To this, this administration is pathetic. Now they are demonizing actual legal immigrants too. There is no way in hell we are deporting 12,000,000 people. That would be both a humanitarian and economic disaster for our country. Until people start trying to fix THAT problem, all they are doing is yelling at each other across the isle. And...the wall is the dumbest waste of tax payer money I've heard in a very long time and it's nothing more than to garner votes from racist idiots.

  25. Then it should be easy to provide proof that his voting record is a sham. It took me less than a minute to find his voting record disproving the false claims you've made. I'll give you five minutes. Show us that this is all a sham. Show us how Schumer has tried to tear down border security.

  26. So stop claiming it’s all the same when you don’t have kids or need to stay at a hotel. And anecdotes don’t matter, but I have a feeling you’re in a minority when you say there’s no difference between 2 2.5-3 hour road trips in a day (after 4+ hours of football) and 2 4 hour road trips in a day (after 4+ hours of football). And that’s the shortest one in the Big Ten.

  27. Where do you stay in Lincoln? Do you have kids? Also, how old are your children? I mentioned affordability but there are other factors. e.g. a 5 year old in a car for 4 hours is a lot different than 8 hours. Also, Iowa as a day trip for kids would be awful. I’ve done it by myself and it sucked.

  29. So you, a fiscal conservative, want the federal government to employ more people all over the country who's only job is to make evaluations on whether other people are capable of work? Sounds hilariously hypocritical and wasteful to me. That's because you listen to partisan talking points, not actual people. That isn't true of citizens, or politicians. As far as citizens go, here's a harvard-harris poll where 79% of people polled said they want a secure border compared to an open border - http://harvardharrispoll.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Final_HHP_Jan2018-Refield_RegisteredVoters_XTab.pdf As far as politicans go, Shumer authored an immigration bill that would have devoted more money to border security. Thirty house democrats this year sponsored an immigration bill that enhances technology to monitor the border better. "In the Senate, all but one Democrat voted for similar immigration legislation sponsored by Senator John McCain, Republican of Arizona, and Senator Chris Coons, Democrat of Delaware." In 2013 every single Democrat in the Senate voted for an immigration bill that provided more funding and thousands more agents to patrol the border. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said, "“We have to have a secure border... We need to make sure that people are, in fact, documented.” So. You're either wrong or you're lying. Which is it? As far as what immigration laws I personally would support, a good start would be humane laws that don't separate families, that are reasonable to implement and offer a viable path to citizenship.

There were times last season when the Badgers won in spite of Hornibrook, not because of him (his 15 interceptions were second most in the Big Ten only to pick machine Tanner Lee of Nebraska with 16). But Hornibrook settled down late in the season and led Wisconsin past Iowa and Michigan, and nearly past Ohio State in the league title game. If he steps up his game this season, Wisconsin is a legitimate national title threat.

  35. Its not about taking the fruits of any one else's labor, its about everyone being rewarded with a fair amount of compensation for their days work. There was a time when factory jobs, and many others, paid good wages , provided good pensions , good medical insurance, and treated their employees with respect. The work was fast paced and back breaking , but people lined up to take those jobs. Upper management and stockholders made millions, and nobody complained, because everyone, top to bottom, felt like they were fairly compensated. Over the years companies have slashed wages, overtime, benefits, weakened unions, eliminated respect for employees, etc in effect ruining those job to the point where only an illegal or political refugee will take them. Telling people they "deserve" lousy wages , no benefits, lousy treatment , and applying relentless pressure to make them do more for less, so management can get big bonuses, breeds resentment. The scales have tipped way too far in favor of a select few people, and its bad for the country as a whole. Whats laughable is how they've got the same people they oppress, who had zero chance to sniff the stratosphere they live in, to support their "right" to oppress them , when they should be rioting in the streets to get fairer treatment.

  36. What is #SAD is seeing someone so vigorously defend a system that is so exploitative and corrupt. And once again, you have no idea what I am saying to because you don't listen. I have ZERO issues or problems with people who are rich. Yes I envy them but in a good way. Society needs rich people. My qualm is their utter f'ing greed. These people already have more money than they could possibly spend in a hundred lifetimes and yet they continually want more profits/money. All the while cursing and condemning poor people who just want to be paid a wage they can live on. Here is the point you simply haven't been able to grasp: When rich people pay poor people wages they can live on, it ultimately benefits rich people the most in the long run. Why? Because when people at the bottom of society's economic ladder make money, and feel good about their economic future--they spend that money. They go out to dinner/movies/entertainment more, they spend more at Christmas, take better vacations and spend more while on vacation. So no, I don't hate rich people. I hate their hypocrisy and greed.

  37. Some of the fans of tOSU are worked up about this. I regularly post on BuckeyePlanet, and it's getting interesting over there (visit the Urban Meyer thread). Needless to say, that this investigation needs to be over for them soon. I don't trust EITHER man's story in this. Seems to me that both reporters are using the situation to get some light nationally. Bringing Tom Herman and his folks into this only makes things look extremely reality show-ish. Most of their fans admit that if the investigation uncovers a cover up of any kind, they're not going to tolerate that and Meyer should be gone. However, some are hanging on every word that Snook and McMurphy put out there. Once the investigation started, however, what either of these clowns put out there have zero bearing on the situation. Here are the facts (at face value, here): 1. Meyer wasn't completely truthful during Media Days. Fact. 2. McMurphy has changed his story on the Book of Faces since first published. Fact. 3. If Meyer indeed reported any incidents to the appropriate individuals at the university, worst he would have done is lied to the media. Fact. 4. Courtney and Zach Smith have had a very volatile relationship that seems to have spilled over into the public eye. Fact.

  39. @Ric Flair Snopes Snopes 2 More #GOP Anti-LBGTQIA Legislation It just goes on and on... So everything I've said, plus his Twitter accusations that all Mexicans are rapists, murderers, his rants against Muslims, calling other countries "****hole countries" But right Ric, Trump is clearly NOT a racist, xenophobic, anti-lbgtqia, white nationalist who is actively promoting an all-white, Christian, ethno state. I'm not sure how how someone as smart as you are can continually be so obtuse and blind to what Trump is really doing.

  43. Personally, I think there is a huge difference in driving 8-12 hours compared to 4-8 hours. Anything more than 6 hours and I start to hate the drive. Say the drive is 6 hours, I can leave in the morning, get to the destination, and enjoy the afternoon/evening. If that drive were 10 hours, I wouldn’t get to my destination until the evening and I would be pretty tired from the drive so I wouldn’t be able to enjoy much of that first evening. Then going back home after the game is even worse. Getting back late afternoon/early evening and getting ready to go back to work on Monday is not ideal. I think there is a significant difference when another 4 hours are added to the drive. It’s almost doubling the drive time.
