CU didnt win because of clock management. They lost because a few key mistakes from a team playing their first game. We looked light years ahead of last year imo and I really hope Martinez is OK because he looked like an absolute stud. I learned that some people will melt down no matter how we lose. We just outgained them on the ground 329 to 44. We looked like the better team but made first week mistakes. I like the direction of this team.13 points

Boneheaded plays by players at innoportune times are hard to overcome. 2 dropped TDs from our two top receivers. Turnovers, and perhaps a play by a safety at the end that cost this team dearly and should cost him playing time next week. There’s simply zero excuse for that move, the ball was 10 yards overthrown and turned a 4th and long to a 1st. ive also reconfirmed that people on this board will never be content. All you throwing a fit need to find a new interest outside of husker football. Already questioning this staff that’s working with a team of players from a prior coach. Relax- it’s 18-22 year olds playing football for Christ sake.8 points

Unbelievable. We're one game into Frost's 1st season and we already have people saying the season is lost or hinting that it is.7 points

Lifelong Buff fan here. But I follow NU too - more closely since the teams left the Big 12. Just wanted to say, you guys were way better than I thought you'd be. Martinez especially impressed me - I hope he is okay, sounds like initial reports are encouraging. Frost is a good hire and you guys will be back competing for an NC, I honestly believe. We caught you at a good time, but this game was more important to the CU program at this time than it is to NU. You guys will be fine, and the class of the Big10+4 in no time. That game was insane! You will not see a better CFB game this weekend, and maybe all season, imho. CU has been on the wrong side of most of those in this series, so I know it sucks and I know y'all hate my f*ing guts right now and don't want to hear it from me, but all I gotta say is much love and much respect for NU! I wish we were still in the same conference (Big8 not Big12). Keep your heads up - NU will be back.7 points

You can’t go -3 in turnovers, drop a TD pass, have bad special teams play, and have stupid penalties and expect to win.7 points

About 6 different guys had a shot to make this a 2 possession game late, and ALL failed. Hard to fathom the odds of that. Also, didn't seem to be the beneficiary of many spots or calls. Combine that with losing your QB late and it's pretty long odds to the W.7 points

On a more serious note I'll reiterate what I posted in a different thread. Today I saw a very talented team make a bunch of sloppy mistakes that you often see in the first game of the season. Did anyone watch Atlanta vs Philadelphia on Thursday? That was the first game of the season for most of those players and it was one of the sloppiest games I've watched in awhile. Those are NFL players and you think that it won't happen to college players? Watch the NFL games tomorrow and then compare them to the next week and you should notice how much more fine-tuned the teams are. You can practice as much as you want, nothing compares to in-game reps. Nebraska was robbed of getting game reps in an easier win, Colorado wasn't. It showed. I think we need to face facts for this season - we weren't contending for the playoffs. The absolute ceiling was to contend for the Big Ten West which wouldn't have changed no matter the result of this game. I stated before the season even began that the barometer of success for this team won't be in how many games they win, but rather how they looked in those games. We're coming off 3 years where this team looked lifeless, where it was steamrolled on both sides of the ball, where pass coverage and tackling was non-existent. Today, I saw fire. I saw passion. I saw guys flying to the ball. I saw a push up front on offense and constant pressure on the QB on defense. The defense sacked Montez 7 times today and pressured him on several other occasions. This same line managed 14 sacks all of last year. At one point, Nebraska sacked Montez 3 straight times on 3rd down. Tell me that's not improvement. The offense produced two 100+ yard rushers. That never happened under the previous coaching staff. Tell me that's not improvement. The offense produced nearly 600 yards on offense. That rarely happened the last 3 years. Tell me that's not improvement. Colorado had to earn about every single one of their points. The TD passes from Montez to Shenault were well placed passes that even Alabama would have a hard time defending. There were no gimmies and I suspect there won't be many gimmies all year. Without a doubt, I saw the sloppiness, I saw the mistakes. Choosing to focus purely on that ignores the larger picture: this is a good team in very good hands. The results will come. Be patient and enjoy the ride.6 points

Nebraska could lose every game this year and I would be more encouraged about our future than I ever was with Riley as head coach.6 points

No one cares or trusts your take. Put it in one of the other threads about the game.5 points

Learned that while Bell is a serviceable RB, he doesn’t have that extra gear that can turn a turn a 40 yard run into a 80 yard run.5 points

I believe all Colorado has done is awaken a sleeping giant and have filled him with a terrible resolve. Colorado will lose by at least 35 points next year. This I am sure of. Proud of this Nebraska football team. All they need to do is keep working and play for each other.5 points

Nebraska made way too many mistakes to win this game. It wasn't the refs, it wasn't sCUm, the loss rests on the entire team. Too many mistakes.5 points

So, I have been at our first two “games” and I can say with a clear conscience, that atmosphere was much better last weekend. Fans were good to start with today, but seemed to get tired or lazy in 2nd half. Once we took the lead, kinda felt like we coasted. Then the fans came back to life late in the game. This was a tough game for fans to follow, so much happening all the time, with both teams running high tempo. Big Mistakes: 2 fumbles crushed missed FG dropped JD pass in 4th quarter on 3rd and 15 to ice it. dropped Morgan TD. Bunch throwing ball out of bounce with chance to win. Hit by Reed that ultimately cost us the game. Play Call on Martinez Pick. (Should’ve ran and tried to end it behind the OL. IMO) Loved: Martinez play making ability. TD pass to JD was best Husker pass I’ve seen in a long time. Perfect. ground game was fantastic. loved the d. Very good opening performance. sacks were a sight for sore eyes. Washington can juke and jive wow. disliked: pass call when Martinez threw a pick. how we operated the clock late. It ended up being correct because we needed the time, but it sort of felt like we could’ve pounded it down their throats to win it 40 seconds at a time. Looks like this is the start of something special.4 points

This team would've kicked the crap out of the 2017 version. Sucks to be 0-1 but we knew we weren't going to compete for any big trophies this year. That starts next year. I saw a lot of mistakes today but I also saw guys playing their guts out. Gebbia missed a huge opportunity imo.4 points

the colorado ahole was down there cranking on that leg the whole time. A little face tap after after a throw is a 15 yd. penalty, but lay down there and crank on a knee... no problem.3 points

Is it just me, or does it look like #44 from CU unnecessarily rolls up into the back of AM's leg towards the end of the play? Not in any way saying he was intentionally trying to hurt him, but it looks like he could have let his leg go once it was clear the tackle had been secured. As a defender, maintaining the health of the player you're tackling isn't of any concern, you simply want to get them on the ground, but it just looks like there was a little "extra" on this play.3 points

We learned, or rather was validated, that we have a coach that cares about winning again. He was noticeably upset in the post game. I'm going to bat for that, because big picture that's a coach that gets it done. And, yeah, there are some play calls on both sides I didn't like, in particular the 4th and short and opposing 3rd and very long. An awful lot to build on, though. There is losing close games in year 1 and there is losing with a lot of promise, and this was the latter by far.3 points

I don't think I've ever experienced a Nebraska loss yet felt so good about it.3 points

So let me see if I understand your positions Illegal immigrants are coming into our country and committing crimes. So we need to increase border security and deportations and basically reform our immigration laws. People WITH GUNS are killing people pretty much daily, sometimes in mass quantities, and there is nothing that can be done with guns. got it3 points
