  1. That Lavonte is hands down the best linebacker in the country. Period. (I'm only posting positive stuff the rest of the day)
  2. Well stated, I don't know that you can focus "too much" on QB b/c it is so crucial to this offense. Yes, the special teams were horrible today, no doubt, and that MUST be corrected. The defense is just as you said, both at the mercy of the offense sucking it up but still responsible for not gettting of the field on 3rd down. I think I focus on Taylor b/c he has such immense talent, mostly with his feet but also he has an adequate arm. His motion is ugly, but this isn't the NFL and motion isn't that big a deal in college. If he can make the right decision 90-95% of the time presnap and then 90% of the time post snap, coupled with making enough throws to keep the run game loose, this offense is scary. If he continues to make poor decisions however this offense will continue to be completely impotent. IF we are going to make the step to the next level (ie play for conference championships, BCS bowls and possible national titles), Taylor is going to be a key compenent to that (along with improved WR play, shoring up the OLine, and the special teams as noted), and that's probably why I tend to be hard on him (plus I was a QB lol). Maybe having our pants pulled down on national TV will be a good thing in the long run, although between this and the Wisconsin ass-whipping both on national TV, I can't say it is going to help recruiting. I think they have a great foundation, but we can't keep talking about discipline and fundamentals and yet have all these mental errors and penalties. Time will tell I guess....
  3. He's played great for the past month and a half. The offensive line didn't give him time...the WRs didn't help him out. By "played great" you mean he made the throws he should have made. I agree he has looked better the last few weeks, but that's not going to be good enough. Yes, the line has had problems, but some of that comes from him not being able to make the right reads at the line, getting them out of bad calls and into good ones. More than that, I want to see him look more confident with his decisions, both in the passing game and in the option. He's had enough starts that he should not look confused nearly as often as he does. I will agree with you that the line needs to improve, and the WR's REALLY need to have a come to Jesus moment. If you can correct the drops and penalties, this team is a juggernaut in waiting (one of my friends, a non-Nebraska fan, commented a couple weeks ago that this is a top 5, BCS title type talent team if they can find a brain, and I can't disagree with him). However, if they don't grow up and fix their execution problems, you'll be looking at 8-4, 9-3 again next year. That's not bad, in the scheme of things, but it's not Nebraska football.
  4. Taylor better LIVE in the film room between next Saturday and the bowl game, and then every day during the off-season. Despite his ugly motion, he doesn't have a terrible arm. His whole problem is mentally he has no idea what is going on, and he is unable to make a decision. Time for a lot of guys on both sides of the ball to grow up, Crick, Lavonte, Dennard won't be around next year for the defense and Taylor needs to progress to a real Div I QB, not just a track star. As an aside though, what a player #4 is. I look forward to watching him for years in the League, whether be as an outside backer or a safety. Ad they score again, I kind of hope they get 50 on us. I'm sick of seeing this sh#t, maybe getting lit up 52-17 would jostle some things.
  5. I'm so tired of DB's smacking the ground after they've missed an interception. Catch the ball (stop hanging out with our wide outs)
  6. I was posting something about our special teams earlier...... ?
  7. Nice push off by their WR. And he caught it........Our receivers would have SHOVED off and got a flag and/or wouldn't have caught the ball anyway
  8. Maher's got blocked first, negates any penalties hitting the punter. Doesn't mean it wasn't garbage, it was. So you're saying if our man had gotten a piece of the ball, he wouldn't have been flagged? Makes no sense! Yes, those are the rules. If you get the ball you can hit the kicker
  9. That call was absolute horse sh#t. Running into the kicker is a stretch, roughing is total bullsh#t.
  10. There's more than a head coach on the staff Obviously. But he is responsible for them. If an assistant isn't cutting it, then he needs to be helped on how to cut it....or cut loose. Now let's get off the field on third down here and go get 7 more.....
  11. Blame falls on both sides, which means it is on the coaching staff as a whole (which would be the Head Coach), The offense can't be inept (161 yards of total offense so far ? Really ?), b/c not only do they not score, they put the D right back out there. On the flip side, the D does a terrible job of getting off the field when they get chances. Penalties on both sides have been, are, and apparently will continue to be a HUGE problem. The special teams are not very good either. And for the life of me, can we find ONE receiver/TE who can catch the ball ? I'm not talking about making big plays even, just catch the God damn ball when you're open on routine plays. That has been a problem all year, and last year as well. Simply inexcusable. All that said, if you get a score and a stop, you are in the game. Let's see if we can do that.....
  12. I am growing very tired of watching this trash. We are so talented, and yet even more undisciplined, unfocused, and just mentally useless. I don't know if it's lack of preparation or just dumb kids, but cosidering we've been penalized heavily the last few years, with different kids, I have to think it comes from the coaches. TM hasn't progressed at all from last year, he's still basically Forrest Gump running an offense. The defense is fast but can't tackle, and the special teams.......as I type that we botch yet another special teams play. I'm not calling for anybody's head, but I start to wonder if Bo shouldn't just be a DCoord and maybe somebody with a clue how to teach attention to detail (particularly offensively) should be the HC. PS - Thorell is a nice kid I'm sure, but there is no way he should ever, ever, ever be on the field at this level.
