  1. More on defense I suspect. Our skilled guys have speed. should be very interesting to see how well they use it to really stop us. I sure hope they miss their d-coordinator. they have lighting quick guys on defense and this along with confusing the heck out of tm is what scares me. tm sometimes just seems like tm does what he was last told and can't remember what he was told a few games prior. (total understanding). one game the coaches say you will not last the whole year if you keep running the ball, and so he does not run it at all. next game he is told to use his backs more, and that’s all he does. then again, he is told to look off receivers and throw to the 2nd and 3rd routes and even when he sees the first route guy open, he elects to throw to 2nd and 3rd receiver. i don't know maybe i am over analyzing it, but still, we need him to react with the right reads and do whatever he has learned throughout his time as qb, not just focus on what he was told in last week’s practice!
  2. wow, 2011 to 2011 no defense in that game!
  3. Exactly. Fonzie Dennard was just a three-star CB in 2008. Kinda missed on that one, didn't they? Look at some of the Huskers over the years that were highly touted players and turned out to be standouts. (works both ways) If the star rankings meant nothing - you wouldn't have these top teams loaded up w/ 4* recruits. The fact is that the star ranking correlates primarily to the recruit's exposure and/or offer list. to me this makes perfect sense, considering if you are in high demand by top schools you must be a quality recruit, and have the "potential" to be a solid D1 pick. (florida/alabama don't recruit 135lb linebackers with no tackling ability) potential is the key behind the star ranking - plenty of these guys were standouts in high school...come into college w/ a big ego, big dreams, and big issues. they don't pan out. it in no way means they were ranking incorrectly. likewise plenty of solid players are missed mainly due to the lack of exposure they received in high school (jared crick). star haters back up their arguments with the 2-3* guy that made it big, while ignoring all the 4* and 5* guys that did the same (in a much higher percentage). can't argue with the facts behind the rankings. what you can do is not get discouraged when we sign a 3*...because often times it's just a guy that's been overlooked. Of course it works both ways. It's a crapshoot to determine how talent will translate to the next level. The stars system is neither infallible nor a joke. It's a guessing game. yes it is a crapshoot and this is why they need to be players who can be developed. our past walk on program is a strong testiment to the players who can be developed! we just have to hope we have the coaches who can develop them regardless of them being a 3 star, 5 star or walk-on!
  4. little worried here on this as i think this s/c kid can throw as good if not better than taylor. oh wait, so can all these guys DE - Martin, Ankrah DT - Moore, Rome DT - Steinkuhler, Guy DE - Camstache, Williams BUCK - Whaley, Fisher MIKE - Compton, Roach WILL - David, May DIME - Thorell, Blatchford LCB - Green, Jean-Baptiste S - Cassidy, PJ Smith S - Stafford, Osborne RCB - Fonzie Island, Evans
  5. ha, then runs straight into a light pole that is standing before him! lol
  6. fisher is detail oriented and very meticulous. he will insure that we see film and review players that fit the mold we are looking for. organization on whom we should be cognizant of is key in the recruiting trail long before you ever approach the athlete. identifying talent a few months before other teams do can give us a leg up when blowing in their ear!
  7. if iowa had it's running backs in this, i would say iowa beats ou outright. they still might give ou a go without their backs because from everything i hear, ou locker room is coming apart at the seams. transfers, threats of transfers, players not happy with venables and coaching staff and more. after the game, will they announce mike stoops is back on their staff?
  8. i know most people (fans) look at the star rating as some sort of gospel, however look at some of the huskers over the years that were not highly touted players and turned out to be standouts. i just think we need to let it play out without losing any sleep over it yet. if we were start sliding into the 7 win seasons, then we should become concerned. dang, i do not want to think that will ever happen again like in the days of billy c. what are you guys hearing about the boosters thoughts on bo's performance? i know a couple big boosters who are still on the fence and are looking to give bo about 3 more years to produce a powerhouse that gets into the bcs bowls regularly and if not, they are personally willing to cough up some major dough to get a high dollar coach.
  9. they probably posted this as part of their ncaa obligation. now they can show that they have no culpability in fans contacting recruits or at least they can show they were proactive in their approach (requesting fans) to be mindful of the situation.
  10. doc will have a short leash once new arena is done. i always thought doc was supposed to be a solid coach but i am losing faith with each passing year. we do have to remember though that we were short some key players vs. wisconsin. not that it would have mattered in who won or loss but possibly a little better showing!
  11. i think we will end up with a very solid recruiting class once the dust sets. i am not somone who puts a lot of faith in the star ratings.
