  1. Has anyone on the board bought golf clubs, specifically a set of irons, at a golf expo? I’m in the market for a set of Ping i200s and there’s an expo in Sioux Falls this weekend. Wondering if they give any good discounts at these things.

If you are trying to save money, I’d buy blems online. If you’re trying to buy local (omaha) the golf pro at Golf USA on 120/F is a good guy and helped me pick my irons out a few years ago.

I'm a Ping guy so I went and did a fitting to find my correct lie, length, etc..  and then hit a few balls in a simulator to help pick out a model. At the time it was either i25s or G30s.... based on contact and ball flight it suggested the i25s. I ended up buying a set of i20s as they were similar but quite a bit cheaper - found a good deal on ebay from a Canadian seller. Generally I like to buy one or two models older than the current one just because I can't really plonk $1,000 down on a set of clubs.

Ping controls the retail pricing of their clubs more than nearly any other company.  An expo might have a good low price.  But it won't be much less than elsewhere.  For Ping it's unlikely you'll find anyplace with a significant price discount on a new set.  If Ping finds out some store is selling for below their suggested retail they cancel their contract.  eBay might be your best bet for a good price on a set of i200 irons.  /jmho
