  1. Not saying Nebraska will win or lose this game. But the fact that it has been since 2006 since they won back to back road games has no baring on it.
  2. I think they win 8. I have no idea which of those 8 games it will be. If they get a good match up, I see them winning their bowl for a 9-4 season. I am optimistic because I think the defense is going to be pretty good. You know top 30. I am optimistic because AM is not the starting QB this year. Whether you think he was the biggest problem on offense, the least of our problems or somewhere in between it was time for him to leave. Four years was enough as the starter. I am perfectly happy that Casey Thompson or Chubba Purdy as going to be QB this team. I like Thompson he wasn't Texas's problem last year winning games. It was the sieve of a defense that couldn't stop anyone. I think special teams will improve. Even if it is just average and not a liability that is probably worth 1 win.
  3. My thought is let the season play out before you are firing Scott Frost. I would have understood completely if Trev Alberts had fired Frost at the end of the season. He chose a different path, which I am also fine with. You just have to let it go. Unless Frost starts out something like 1-5 this year, he is not being fired at midseason. He has this season to audition. He knows that his job is on the line. Lets not throw dirt on his corpse until it is one.
  4. My point really isn't whether BP was right or wrong. But in life you can't really get away with the way BP treated people he didn't like for ever. It will catch up with you I haven't lived in Nebraska or the Midwest since 2011. The overall impression I get from people with a little bit of football knowledge about Nebraska historically and BP is that despite his record at Nebraska he was viewed as a pretty big a$$. They really didn't understand why Nebraska held onto him even as long as they did. His public persona away from Nebraska and the Midwest is of an out of control a$$ hole.
  5. I guess this is where I am at on the subject. You can't have complete contempt for your bosses. No matter how incompetent you may feel they are. Bosses don't like that and they will get rid of you. I was actually very surprised he made it past 2013 and the almost hitting a ref with my hat incident. Bo didn't win enough to get to act like that big of a d!(k in public to people.
  6. Oh, yeah just listened to the latest version of this. They spent the first 15-20 analyzing Frost's PC at Media Days. They are really just pissed because he didn't say anything. So they have to talk about him not saying anything.
  7. This is a very interesting take. If Frost gets fired mid season it is because the team is sitting at something 1-5 or 2-6 at which point he deserves to be fired. Trev Alberts will need no help from Shatel or any other media member to soften the blow.
  8. Yes, he did. The one in the afternoon had a lot of the same stuff, he obviously went back and edited it. The earlier one had a completely different tone to it. He talked about Frost being business like and it had a bit more of a positive spin. I bet an editor wanted a little more bite to the article.
  9. I like all of these things, but I would lose crab legs if I had to get rid of one. I like surf and turf. I like a little crab with a lot of steak. To the people that like their steak well done, to each his own I say. I don't like my steak rare either. A medium steak with a warm pink middle is good. My wife would lose the fried chicken or ribs. She tolerates fried chicken at some sort of get together but would never serve it at home. She hates ribs she thinks they are greasy. She loves sea food and crab legs are her favorite. I think you would be amazed at how many crab legs she could put away at an all you can eat place. When we go to one of these places, which are becoming much less common that is all she will eat. She doesn't want to waste stomach space on other food.
  10. I tend to agree. I don't see this being a vintage Wisconsin team. Unless they have some incoming freshman RB that looks like Johnathan Taylor I just don't see it. The difference in their team last year was the lack of a truly great RB. They had good ones but not that great one. I am not sold that this Mertz kid is the second coming of Russel Wilson either. There defense should be solid. Lets see how they look after their first game against PSU. They could be 1-2 after 3 games.
  11. Sure if BP would have won more games there is no way he would have been fired. You only get to act like an a$$ if you are winning a lot. Nick Sabin and Bill Bellichek get to act like jerks because they win a lot. Bobby Knight only lasted so long at Indiana because he was winning a lot. When he wasn't winning a lot he was more trouble than he was worth. I doubt very much TO knew how much Steve Pederson was despised in the AD office before he became the AD. My oldest brother knows 1 of the former assistant AD's that quit as soon as SP got the job, because he wouldn't work for the man. This is a guy that had worked at Nebraska for 25 years.
  12. Well I think BP problems were more the way he dealt with everything else vs. his record on the field. BP would still be here winning 9-10 games a year if he wasn't such a d!(k. Solich and Steve Peterson never got along when they were underlings. They were not going to work well together.
  13. You need to be consistently good, before you can be great. I think it will be interesting to see if Chryst does start adding things to the offense. He does like the forward pass more than Alvarez. I don't think he will stray too far from the formula. I don't think they are getting rid of the fullback. It won't surprise me to see an uptick in their passing and more use of the shotgun. We will see.
  14. Would love to have seen Rush on there farewell tour. Saw Motley Crue on their "Farewell Tour" how ever many years back. Alice Cooper opened for them and his show was way better. As soon as things open up I am taking my son to see RHCP's. It really doesn't matter where they are at we want to go see them.
  15. I was at this game I was all of 12 at the time. It was very much a let down and probably hard to get back up to play again after the emotional drain of playing so well against OU the week before. Missouri was decent that year. I think they ended up 8-3 or 7-4. They had a three headed monster on offense. Phil Bradley at QB, James Wilder at RB, he played quite a few years in the NFL and a guy by the Name of Kellen Winslow at TE. It was basically a game of who scored last won the game.
  16. Couldn't have said it better myself. Spielman is a great complimentary receiver. When he had someone to take the heat off of him on the outside he thrived. But with that said, he is not going to be that guy that takes over a game when the other team doesn't have someone else to work off of. I am not sure Wondale Robinson is that type of guy either, but he still has a chance to prove me wrong.
  17. Read the article yesterday. You can't argue with a lot of what he says, except. No one at Nebraska, including Frost ever said they wanted to leave the conference. He is only half paraphrasing what Moos says. He leaves out other parts, which I am sure he read in Sipple's article. The article's tone is just petty and vindictive and designed to piss off a certain crowd. You are right, being a Mizzu grad he has absolutely no love for Nebraska. Loves to kick us when we are down. He has certain Schools and college towns he loves to go after. He went hard after how bad Pullman, Wa home of Washington St is a couple of years ago when ESPN was going there for game day. Basically said the town sucks. Been to Pullman nice little college town. I am sure Columbia MO is way better.
  18. I truly don't ever recall believing in Santa. I am sure I did at sometime, but I was the youngest and my older brother would have definitely broke the news to me just to be a d!(k. We only got 1 or 2 presents from Santa at my house anyway. It was usually the big present a new bike etc. It was always kind of a wink and a nudge from my parents. Now my wife on the other hand loves Santa and wanted are kids to believe as long as possible. Her parents did the same thing as @KnappIc did. They would go to church and the presents from Santa would be there when they got home.
  19. This would be very hard for me to do. I will pick 10 songs that I never get tired of listening to. By that I mean I never turn it off or skip it. Everybody Wants to Rule the World- Tears for Fears Black Whole Sun-Soundgarden Ramble On- Led Zep Time- Pink Floyd Can't Find My Way Home - Blind Faith Home Sweet Home- Motley Crue Redemption Song - Bob Marley True Faith- New Order As- Stevie Wonder Soul to Squeeze- Chili Peppers I could easily put down another 10 Elderly Woman- Pearl Jam Into the Mystic - Van Morrison Say Hello 2 Heaven- Temple of the Dog God only Knows- Beach Boys Every Picture Tells a Story- Rod Stewart Voices Carry - Til Tuesday Behind the Wall of Sleep- The Smithereens Subdivisions- Rush Girlfriend - Matthew Sweet A Sort of Homecoming- U2
  20. Very much so, confidence and momentum are such a huge factor in football. They gained both winning those close early games.
  21. I like your enthusiasm. When I look at other teams I usually ask myself 1 big question. Is this team on paper going to be better than they were the year before. When I look at Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin my answer is no. Minnesota is taking some huge hits on offense and lost their best player on defense to graduation. Iowa is breaking in a new QB after having a 3 year starter and all the crap that has gone on there lately has to have an effect on the team and losing your AA defensive end. You don't just replace Johnathan Taylor or your top receiver. Though Wisconsin's defense should be at least as good as last year. On paper I think Nebraska looks to be a lot better offensively than last year and a little better defensively.
  22. As was said already, TO had promised Frank the job. He actually stayed 1 year longer than originally planned. He was going to retire after the 96 season. There were other things involved also. 1. He thought he owed it to his wife to quit and spend time with her. 2. He had already had heart bypass surgery about 7-8 years earlier. He truly thought he was going to be in declining health. Which didn't happen as you can see he is 87 and still going pretty well. When you are a type A personality like TO was, you can't just shut it off. He basically ran for congress because he was board. I think within a couple years after he retired he regretted doing it. I think if he would have had a do over he probably wouldn't have retired and then he would have coached another 5-10 years.
  23. Al Papik is who TO wanted to be AD. You have to remember that Deveney was loved by all but when he left as AD and BB took over the Athletic department was a mess infrastructure wise and deep in dept. Deveney had neglected a lot his last few years and was moving on autopilot. Bill Byrne gets a bad rap from a lot of people as "Dollar Bill", but he made a lot of tough choices and presided over basically a high water mark for Nebraska athletics
  24. So when was Osborne asked initially to be AD? BB became AD in 1992? When TO wasn't named AD at that point the ship had sailed on him being AD any sooner than he became it
  25. It is way to early to tell. I get really tired of guys like Kirk Herbstreit throwing crap out there just to get a response from people. By June 1st we should know a lot more. That is almost 2 full months away. At this point I am optimistic. .
