  1. I say 6 Colorado, LA Tech, NIU, NW wins Mich, Wisc losses Other 6 games toss ups and we with 1/3 of them.
  2. Well, there's 42 bowl games, so the top 84 coaches are already coaching their own teams in bowls, so you have to go pretty far down the list to find someone available. (I'm assuming that a coach wouldn't/couldn't coach both)
  3. We were 2-5 in one score games last year. With better coaching and attention to detail, I'd expect that to improve to 4-3. So, I'm going to go with 6-6 next year.
  4. I wonder if she will ask the authorities to no press charges because of this.
  5. Good points. He is probably not a candidate for the job, but if MJ stayed on as asst. HC/WR coach/recruiting coordinator, we could probably do worse.
  6. An out of left field pick would be Paul Cryst. 9 year P5 coaching experience with 70% win percentage (not spectatular) 7 year big Ten coaching experience with 70 % win percentage (pretty darn good) 7-2 bowl record Midwest roots. I would say his firing at Wisconsin is very similar to Nebraska firing of Solich; meaning that in hindsight, it will not be seen as a good move.
  7. I say 7-5 Beat Georgia Southern and North Dakota 5-5 the rest of the schedule. IMO, this should be the minimum and still consider this a somewhat successful season.
  8. It's a little more complicated for golfers, as they have to keep their amateur status to play in college and to play in the big amateur events, like the US Amateur. The USGA has relaxed their rules to fit with NIL, however they can't receive prize money (can receive up to $750 in shop credit/gift certificate), nor can they make any money giving golf lessons, but they can receive money for being in advertisements, autographs etc.
  9. These stats are interesting, but are skewed by the fact that we blew out 3 really bad teams.
  10. I learned that we are now 3-9 in 1 possession games under Scott Frost (1-5 in 2018, 2-4 in 2019). If we just go 6-6 in those games, we finish each year 6-6 and a bowl bid.
  11. Well, I guess it could happen. Illinois beat Wisconsin and we beat Illinois.
  12. He may be talking about the players, but if the players want to stay, he can't really get rid of them. Well, he can get rid of them, but they can keep their scholarship and it still counts against the 85. In 2015 the power 5 conferences implemented a rule that a scholarship cannot be taken away for poor athletic performance.
  13. Well, I've lived in eastern Iowa for 25 years, so have a lot more friends in Iowa than Nebraska.
  14. A friend of mine from Iowa just texted me calling Scott Frost the "Steve Alford of football coaches", meaning not having a good team, but never the fault of the coaches....ouch.
  15. Because contrary to what Frost said would happen, the Big Ten has adjusted to Frost and his staff way faster than Frost and his staff have adjusted to the Big Ten.
  16. The one thing that no one is giving credit (for lack of a better word) to the universities and NCAA for is that they provide the market for the players to showcase their abilities. Does anyone really think that there'd be 90,000 fans filing into memorial stadium on Saturday's if the team wasn't connected to the University of Nebraska? That has value to the players. For the star player, this market helps them to become more valuable in the NFL draft. For the others, it provides them an education with an academic support system that some wouldn't graduate from college without. And for others, it provides them with opportunities and connections for employment after graduation that non athletes don't have. I'm not saying I'm opposed to players being able to use their likeness to profit while in school, just saying I don't think the current system is as unfair as people are making it seem.
  17. I just hope that these kids realize that just because the NCAA allows it, doesn't mean it won't affect their amateur status. In golf that is a big thing if the student athlete wants to compete in amateur tournaments, which most do.
  18. To be fair. To say that better players won't make a team better is a pretty bizarre take.
  19. For me personally, I'm not looking to get back to where we were in the 90's, I'd just like to get to where Iowa and Wisconsin are; and they don't have any advantages in the areas that were brought up.
  20. Not saying there should be a quarterback controversy, but to be fair, two of the incompletions were him wisely throwing the ball away.
  21. We'd probably all do better to stop comparing our play, recruiting etc to the Ohio States of the world. Right now, I'd be pretty happy to be on the same level as Iowa/Wisconsin. Once we get there, we can look higher.
  22. You are correct, I shouldn't have said the game was lost because of those 3 ints, we weren't winning this game no matter what; but they did pretty much take away any hope we had to keep it competitive.
  23. The three ints had nothing to do with line play
  24. I agree that he has lost his confidence; and my intention isn't to bag on AM. I want him to succeed. And I'm not arguing that our O Line isn't struggling. But this game was lost/stopped being competitive because of those 3 ints. And at worst, with a QB playing average to slightly above average, those three throw would have been 2 incompletions and a touchdown.
