  1. Ha! Riley should just stay in Lincoln and watch game on TV.
  2. Our coach wasn't screaming on the sidelines. But, I don't know if he's alive.
  3. I'm sure the kool-aid will flow next August and people will be predicting 10-2, win conference, etc. but i feel little to no hope for 2017. I have zero faith in this coaching staff and don't see the talent we would need to compete. Hope i'm wrong and would be glad to admit it if i am...
  4. This is ridiculous. Making #9 look like best player in NCAA. #%^*
  5. Serious question. What does Riley do during the games? I've never seen such a disinterested HC on the sidelines before, hands in pocket, looking down, chewing gum, and no one is ever around him.
  6. This game is beyond embarrassing. What a sad way to go into the offseason. Next year is do or die for Riley, he'll have mostly his recruits, his staff, his type of QB, etc. I can't imagine he survives a 6-6 or 5-7 season which seems likely to me.
  7. I hadn't visit this forum for awhile and then clicked on this hot-button thread. Wow. Expected of course with this topic. I just listened to the entire interview with Coach Brown. I am in Arizona now, but grew up in Columbus, NE so familiar with Coach Brown of course and have read about his beliefs here and there and the trouble he got into a few years back but I had never heard him talk openly about his faith so I think I have a more clear understanding (although they are his beliefs and so I know I will never completely understand him or his thoughts). My dad is a retired Lutheran Pastor so i grew up in the church and as I do video production now as my career, I sometimes work for various congregations. My dad's church was one of the first to be open to same-sex couples and so I got a bird's-eye view of religion and how it's played such a negative part in same-sex or LBGT couples/people. All I can say is that I feel bad for anyone who hides behind religion to condemn people who are different than they are. Our organist was in a committed relationship with the same guy for more than 40 years. But they never received the same benefits a man or a woman would receive. Just sad. And so many other couples who couldn't go to church or are discriminated in their every-day lives because of others who think they have the moral authority to look down and judge. So my feelings are very mixed on Coach Brown. I think he's a pretty classic case of what I term a born-again christian who discovers faith/religion/God later in life and turns his entire life over to this calling (that said, there are other born-agains with different views). But religion is such a complex issue and of course most wars are/were/and will be because of differences in beliefs that call back to religion. So coach Brown seems pretty extreme with his beliefs and his need to prophesize. Some of things he said in that interview and the way he believes made me cringe and just shake my head, so strange when people believe they have no power and are controlled by an unknown being. However, that said, coach Brown also seems to be a very caring and dedicated human being and I would guess most parents have no problem with him being there for their 18-22 year-old sons who are away at college. And it also seems apparent that the kids love him. So just like anything to do with religion, a tough call. But I now understand more why maybe coach Riley felt uncomfortable keeping him around. I wish coach Brown good fortunes with Bo and thank him for the many, many years of service at NU.
  8. Hmmm, I was one who desperately wanted Frost to be our next HC and after watching them this season and especially the dismantling of FSU, I just love their uptempo offense and the creativity of their plays, that 2-point conversion was awesome and left FSU completely dumbfounded. I was never one to question his lack of HC experience, I think being a QB under TO, winning a national championship and soaking all that in plus his years at Oregon and the schools before that job, was more than enough to allow him success here at NU. I am supporting Riley and company but I would rather have had Frost and let him grow a bit into the job, I think he will be a very successful head coach and maybe before the doubters think so.. My two cents.
  9. After watching the game last night and seeing Riley sit in the stands with his family, eat a hot dog and some popcorn, meld in with the fans, give a nice interview to ESPN and just sort of golly-shucks-his-way through the evening, I was left with a smile as there's just something so endearing about the guy. And he's 61? What??? However, how does this translate to coaching our football team and producing wins? I just can't figure him out and really don't know what to expect next year? Will this really down-to-earth, cool and approachable vibe turn this perennial 9-4 team into a contender or will the next 3-5 years be the same as before, but just with a different personality on the sidelines? I am hoping for the second coming of Coach Osborne and not a deputy from Mayberry ... should be interesting!
  10. It cracks me up seeing posts like this as if Bo took us to 1-11 records or put Nebraska back 20 years. I am glad he's gone because he's couldn't get over the hump but to blame TO as if Bo was a failure? Let's get real. Bo might have plateaued and maybe even regressed but he still did a damn good job and I love his passion and love for the game and especially his players. So many are over-reacting to all of this, who cares if he spoke his mind on his way out, we are all adults and can manage. The players are fine and are adapting as well. And none of know the real story of what he was dealing with or what he was making up in his own mind. Either way, just let it go. He did a very good job for us here the past 7 years and it was time to move on and we are...
  11. I agree about liking Bo more from this, I know that's not popular...and I am glad he's gone, but still nice to see someone who doesn't just do the "company" good-bye and act like everything was fine. Why do we have to be so "PC" all the time, it's like everyone freaks out when someone speaks their mind. If he was working at McDonalds and left that job with a rant like this, we would all say "good job" but when it's a university position and comes with a million dollar salary everyone thinks he has to act a certain way...I like his passion. Yea he's a super tough guy for speaking his mind behind closed doors and not speaking publicly about how wronged he was. That's just it, he would never do that, he only spoke his mind when he thought he was in a safe environment around his players...not really fair when he didn't know this would be recorded and released...he actually did act mostly professional by not airing these grievances publicly.

  13. I agree, and that is why I'm surprised it came out. When the first tape was released, you can understand why. Releasing this tape and this time is confusing. It does nothing but hurt the University. This exposure certainly can't help Riley's recruiting efforts. The team doesn't need this 10 days before playing in their bowl game. Even if YSU was to back out of their HC choice, it would only hurt UNL even more financially. How does this hurt the University? I get that it is bad publicity and makes things seem like a total clusterf#@k around the program but, this is about the total and complete classlessness of one man, Bo Pelini, not the University. Anybody that puts any stock in what Bo Pelini says at this point in time is not a smart person. His comments about SE should be given the same weight as his comments about everything else and that means anything he says is basically worthless and likely wrong. Seems to me that this recording supports the justification for firing a 9-win coach. I mean, wouldn't anyone around the nation listen to his remarks to the team and say, "Yeah, I guess Pelini really was a douchebag after all. Nebraska did well to get rid of the guy." Agree this supports the idea of firing a nine win coach. But, honest question, when has Bo ever lied? Is there really a reason not give his words weight? Just because he is constantly pissed off person, does not mean his words are untrue, necessarily. It's not necessarily a question of him lying but more how he seems to be totally incapable of perceiving how things really are. His perception of everything else seems to be clouded and just plain wrong, so why should anyone believe a word he has to say about Eichorst. It's like getting stock advice from the bum who lives under the bridge. I think someone like Bo, who has no filter and just says what he thinks, is telling the truth and not making Sh$# up, however, it could be his own reality but I think there is a ton of truth to what he ranted about, especially the AD pile-on...think about it, TO was the type to come to practices, have conversations, and make personal connections, if Eichorst was never around and didn't communicate with BO, he was bound to get upset and nervous about what that meant...
