  1. Yeah, Nebraska tried Gerry at LB...he's not tough, or physical, enough to play LB. He's Charmin. A soft, weak, half-speed, player. Sorry fellow Nebraska fans, I'm just not a Nate Gerry fan. I think he embodied and carried forward for two years, every thing wrong about the former coach. If he excels with the Eagles, terrific, I'll congratulate him. But I'll never root for, or like, him as person or player. Where did you get the impression he "embodied...every thing wrong about the former coach"? I'm asking seriously because I never saw anything like that mentioned by other players or media. And the team voted him as a captain last year, something I doubt would have been done if he personified all the negative of the former regime.
  2. Thursday night/long week at work/one more day to go until the weekend/Sumatra Mountain by Founders bump
  3. The APR is not percentage, but point, based. The multi-year average score for all FBS football programs is currently at 966, according to the NCAA. All the B1G schools earned higher marks than the average, though footfall on the whole is the lowest graded sport in terms of APR in both men's and women's sports. A transfer student counts as -1 if they were academically eligible at the time of transfer, or -2 if they were academically ineligible.
  4. I think you're right. We should all take a recess until the end of December and pretend like half of this board's discussion isn't speculative nonsense meant to wile away the hours of our ever sadder existence... Or we could have fun trying to predict how our QB will fare this upcoming season in a new and unfamiliar system, based on what we know and hope to have happen, while engaging in friendly conversation with other fans of our shared team... Whichever you prefer.
  5. I think Riley has the cool grandpa vibe going, whereas Harbaugh mostly comes across as the dad who tries too hard to relate to his kids, yet still somehow pulls it off (even if it rubs outsiders the wrong way). What is appealing about them is vastly different, but both of them know exactly who they are, what they are doing, and what persona connects to the kids they are trying to bring to their campus. Each of them are capable and willing when it comes to spanning the generational gap, just with different styles.
  6. Typically, guys that break 3000 are either really good or playing from behind, so an over on that could be seen as good or bad. The 64% completion would be over two points higher than the top QB from the B1G last year. But maybe that speaks more to the lack of quality QBs in the league?
  7. I knocked down my original numbers after looking at the 2016 stats and thinking I was being too optimistic, but maybe they are more in line with what everyone expects... 3100 yards 28.5 TD 10.5 INT 64% completion
  8. Saw some predictions cropping up in a recruiting thread regarding Tanner Lee's passing stats, so I decided to start a separate thread here. After doing some (light) research, I came up with over/under numbers for the 2017 season using ESPN stats, assuming Tanner Lee stays healthy: 2700 pass yards 59% completion 23.5 TD 11.5 INT For reference: The pass yards, completion percentage, and touchdowns would have ranked fourth among 2016 B1G quarterbacks. The interceptions would be fourth most among the same group. Nebraska's 2017 opponents' defenses averaged 12.33 interceptions on the season, or roughly one per game. The most pass yards by any B1G QB: 3614 Best qualifying completion rate: 61.9% Most touchdowns: 29 Personally, I land on the optimistic side of the numbers, but I'm curious where everyone else would put their money.
  9. Risky, but you have to believe GG will feel awfully flattered. Hopefully it's enough. I would rather not rely on the flattery a 16 year old kid feels in regards to how to operate a collegiate football team. Dude, You and I have no clue how to operate a collegiate football team. But, I do know that part of recruiting is making a recruit feel WANTED. Nothing says we want you more than, Hey, we aren't taking a QB in 2018 and you are the only offer we have out for 2019. Enough said. Tell that to Nick Saban that started a RS freshman at QB in the National Championship and still signed 2 4 star QB's in 2017. This type of flattery will bite teams. Only the best teams know that and sign QB's every year. Ohio St has 4 QB's ahead of their 2018 5 star QB. Didn't stop them. Clemson signed a 5 star QB in 2017 and has a commitment from another in 2018 I could list more but you get the point. You don't skip on QB's in any class anymore. I'm not saying we should skip one, but I trust coach riley more than I do your advice. It's not advice. It's an opinion based on the fact that much better teams than Nebraska don't skip on QB's. We offered a kicker a scholarship but he's going to wait until 2019 for a QB? Sorry. That's not a solid plan. See how you feel when we need a 47 yard kick to win the game against Wisconsin or something like that. See how you feel when your QB gets you in range for a 17 yard kick to win the game. Not trying to be a prick, but is a 17 yard kick even possible? No, but a 17 yard punt is. Just ask Caleb Lightbourn.
  10. So, Avery, Perkins, Thompson, Carson? Avery. Others project as OLBs/DEs, and have said they will wait on decisions (either after their season or NSD). I feel like Avery has been a Nebraska lean for awhile. But it's speculation on my part, so take it with a grain of salt.
  11. It's gotta be a DT that committed. McShane used the X blackshirt X emoji, which represents our D-line. He posted the same thing on Deontre Thomas' twitter last night about signees and recruits buying into the program. Regardless of who it ends up being, I'm glad the momentum continues. The faster this class fills up, the more pressure on recruits to pull the trigger.
  12. Agree with Goodrich. But wasn't he planning on taking other visits before making an announcement? Thought maybe Avery could be it too.
  13. Times running out wave the flag or your spot is filled? I read it as a commit is coming soon, and it will be a blackshirt. Was going to guess Walker, but considering his big news was a top 7 tonight, I'm wondering if it isn't one of the bigger fish they're after...
  14. That video is the equivalent of an AD tweeting his vote of confidence in a coach right before dropping the axe. Makes me feel better about our odds
  15. Just a joke. The only way I would watch that game again is if I was forced... I'm on your side in this argument, but looking at Lee's history it's tough to see how much of a " threat" he can actually be as a runner, even with a solid passing attack to assist him.
