  1. Bama fan here. A friend of mine, that is a big Nebraska fan, showed me this thread so thought I’d chime in. As an Alabama fan, I’m not going to pretend to know the ins and outs of the Nebraska program like people on this forum or diehard Husker fans. Because of my friend though, I have kept up with Nebraska over the last 10 plus years and have rooted for them to get back to where they traditionally belong, and that is as one of the powers in college football. Also, as a fan of CFB tradition, I have a lot of respect for what Nebraska has done over the years and the way they did it. Ironically, I have actually made the “Saban was 7-6 in his first year” comparison to my friend to help ease the pain of starting 0-2. It probably seems like a lifetime ago for CFB fans that hate Alabama but before Saban, Alabama was in the dumps. I remember going to the Alabama v Miss St game in 2006 and by the end of the game some fans were wearing bags over their heads and as fans streamed out before the game was even over a Miss St fan shouted out “Don’t leave yet, we lost to Maine!”. We were pumped up beyond belief when Saban was hired but when we lost 4 straight to LSU, Miss St, Lousiana Monroe and Auburn in 2007, it seemed like things might continue down the mediocre road. I think your guy Tanner Farmer summed it up perfectly. The culture must change, either you buy in or you don’t, and you hit the road. The culture didn’t change overnight for Alabama, it took growing pains and weeding out the guys who didn’t want to buy into what Saban and his staff was selling. Obviously, recruiting is extremely important to and this will be a big recruiting season for Frost and company. They need to get their guys in that will buy into this new culture with a combination of talent and character that meshes with what Frost is trying to do. It's also about developing talent and then getting the most of that player's abilities by pushing him to be the best he can be. That is something I think Frost can do as a coach. As an outsider looking in, I’ve really liked what I see from Scott Frost. I am impressed with the loyalty he gets from his players (as witnessed at UCF), and I think he’s one of the best young coaches coming up right now. I really thought he would be the best fit back when Riley was hired but I understand at the time he had no HC experience. Now that he is where he belongs, I honestly think it will be maybe 3 seasons and he’ll have Nebraska competing for Big 10 Titles (don’t shoot me if I’m wrong). So, keep the faith Nebraska fans. It’s gonna be a long year but I think the future will be bright….can’t say that I’d be able to say similar things about FSU’s future with Taggert there haha.
