  1. Saw this also. While Brandon was on our team for about 8 months, he's not with us anymore. I believe he is doing some internet radio show called "2 Cents Radio". I have only listened once, you'll have to search it for yourselves.
  2. DAMN YOU BRANDON CAVANAUGH! Why does everyone hate on Brandon? I mean, he's just speaking the truth, nothing I didn't know. First and foremost, haven't been on the site in a while, looks REALLY good. Maybe I could get my sign-in name changed since I don't live in Houston anymore? I dunno... Anyways, the reason I'm here is cause Pelon was basically slow played by Nebraska. Not that it's a bad thing; Nebraska's offer list has been pretty large and they have tried to "focus attention on everyone". However, by the time Nebraska came with an offer, Pelon's interest had basically died down and Tosh did what Tosh does and well there ya go. Is it possible that Pelon could come? Well, yes, but he'd be one of the bigger targets on the board right now. He's not a depth addition, he could very well be starting next year given Nebraska's DL situation. I wouldn't really count on Claude coming. Now, Rennell Wren is a guy you should consider (maybe you have, I haven't read the board much lately) along with Cory Thomas from Alabama (big Mississippi St lean, but could be looking for someone else if Dan Mullen gets told to kick rocks). However, to be brutally honest (and I've talked about this for a while), there is no real consideration of what Nebr/Ross Els is going right now with recruiting. On one hand, there are MULTIPLE OV's ready to be taken and who knows who will be out there. On the other hand, this seems to be a normal occurrence where the staff waits till Dec/Jan and sees who is not getting love. While that worked well last year, this season seems to be a little more slim pickings. Again, probably completely off the thread, but I'll try to pop back in with more insight as I learn it. Thanks for reading my diatribe. GBR. Brian Towle CornNation.com/SBNation.com
  3. i know that i'm slightly late to the party with all this (been working and other things a lot, sorry) but i wanna make one point here on chip brown's article. that, during all of this, on this twitter (www.twitter.com/ChipBrownOB), not only would he put things out there, but every fifth or so post would put out a free offer to orangebloods.com. he let everyone in for free during that entire 2 week span where he had every scoop. now, i get that he owns the site w/Rivals, but don't you find it odd that he had all this info before anyone else, even in austin with their ears pinned back ready to report anything had it?? furthermore, he magically needs to put it on his rivals site with a free offer to keep up afterwards? (for the record, he got about 7,000 new subcribers. i'm not sure about how much a month he gets from everyone, but that seems pretty good for his starbucks addiction, no?) just a few days later after all of this, he kept spouting how Nebraska would owe the Big 12-2 80% of their first year's share in the big 10. i repetedly asked him on twitter (@btbowling) how he came up with such a number, and all he had was that the AD of baylor had told him on his show on espn104.9 in austin. seems to me that, every morning, he would always be the first one to "break" a story at 6-7 am. so it would be the first topic of conversation on any show in america. magically, he just happened to not have anything to break when he was doing spots for sportscenter during the noon hour or when college football live came a calling. here's questions that i asked him, and got no response... - if there was a true offer for four teams to go to the Pac10, and it was a package deal, then why were all schools handled seperately by the Pac 10? if it's a package deal, don't you think all four AD's would have met together and made that deal? - if you are Joe Castiglione, how are you seriously letting Deloss Dodds decide where your student athletes are going to compete? you can not tell me that the university of oklahoma, along with Okla. St and Texas Tech was just okay with having UT decide on where they were going to go. you can't sell me that Castiglione didn't know that UT was full of it. - on the same angle, why originally, was Oklahoma getting more of a share than Tech and Oklahoma St from the four north schools and baylor? if oklahoma was going to go anywhere UT went, why was it then necessary for those five schools to give up the money to make sure OU gets paid? if they weren't leaving, why do they need it? a thank you from UT for trusting them? - what makes you think ESPN/ABC and FSN will pay more for less available games to televise? what makes you think that FSN will (reportedly) raise their stake in your conference a estimated 500%? they only do 2 games, maybe 3 a weekend on their regional channels. they can't put you on national tv, that would upset ABC. also, what makes you think that you'll get the same money the big 10/pac 10 deals with, when they now can get a extra game AND a title game the first week of december? i do honestly believe that the first school to bolt with be texas tech. they were the very last ones to say yes to anything, and with tuberville's comments, they will be looking for something that they could dominate, more than likely the mountain west. i could see the four north schools left finding something with conference usa. again, sorry i'm late to the party, but i'd thought i'd share what happened when all this went down. and living in the firestorm (DFW), i got myself into it hot and heavy.
  4. great graphics. horrible sound. this could be better.
  5. from the site... In the Ft. Worth area Come Join us at Papa G's Located at 8247 Rufe Snow Dr. Watauga, TX 76148
  6. gators in euless on 183 is CLOSED. the new site in midcities is papa g's on rufe snow in watauga. it's right off of 820.
  7. here's a question mark.. PASS PROTECTION. lots of these guys shouldn't see the field unless they can do well in getting blitzers. lee is going to need some time for receivers to get open, and our line can't handle 7 man rushes by themselves.
  8. too bad the university doesn't have the testicular fortitude to pull this off, or replace the tunnel walk music.
  9. being that my PT job is now at Cowboys Stadium, and that it's 10 minutes from my house... i'm pretty damn happy it's down here. btw... cash parking is only 25 bucks, and 20 bucks at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, half a block away.
  10. i mentioned this song a few years ago. people thought i was nuts... sounds as good then as now. tzIVYWDNjy8 (couldn't find the Neb highlights one.)
  11. this is fantastic. can't wait to see them on players... and i can't wait to read all the FINE THE WAY IT IS crowd bitch and moan about this one.
  12. there are many things that these screens will bring, and the ribbon boards will make everything much better. instead of using the corners to get stats and such, it will be much easier to look there, along with more stats that you may not realize (individuals, other team stats like third downs, and such). i don't like the multitude of screens on the corners, because i guess that only means that the south stadium won't be getting that large screen like the north end anytime soon, and it seems (to me) that it is just inevitable. memorial stadium in norman has these, and they make everything much better.. imagine HUSKER on one end and POWER on the other, just like BOOMER and SOONER is there. rangers ballpark in arlington just installed these (one of if not the longest in sports, going from foul pole to foul pole, continuous behind home plate), and made this part FIFTEEN TIMES BETTER in stats, graphics, and advertising. if there is more advertising, then wouldn't that avenue keep ticket prices/food prices at bay? is that not what we all want? cowboys stadium in arlington have two levels that will wrap around the whole field. even with open air ends. then again, what would happen if we had a roof and that screen. technology isn't a bad thing, if it makes the blue hair SIT DOWN crowd shut up, i'm all for it.
  13. if you notice, the Meyer offense uses a lot of veer and such for running plays. there thought is simple. get the ball in your playmaker's hands early and often. there is a GREAT explanation of the offense on this site... http://smartfootball.blogspot.com/2008/12/...er-offense.html also, overall, the author makes a GREAT point about offense. you can call a lot of offense SPREAD, but that's the end of the similarity. the richrod version loves to use certain running plays, florida uses a lot of veer/wing t looks, texas tech is still running the airraid, oklahoma uses a lot of base/pro looks with some of the airraid (kansas too) along with a quick rythem at the line sometimes, tulsa (and now auburn) with gus malzhan, uses some of the run/shoot with a quick rythem for their offense... my point it, the term of spread is just pretty damn generic anymore. what you do after you spread it out and such DEFINES your offense.
