He reported it his AD and Gary Schultz, who is, was in charge of Campus Police, not Security but Campus Police.
In the grand jury report it says Schultz was director of finance. I've read several articles saying that Paterno did not go to police, and even that itself may be subject to criminal action. Of course, articles can be wrong too, and there's lots of stuff flying around.
The indictment is available on line. It doesn't appear Paterno committed a crime, but unfortunately for him this is not really about whether or not he committed a crime. It's about not reporting reasonable suspicion of a crime being committed under his watch to the civil authorities. He had an ethical and moral responsiblity to at least go to campus security. There's no valid excuse for him not to go to the proper authorities, not even the fact that he reported it to his university superiors. There's no telling how many further incidents might have been avoided if he had reported it to the cops.
I think there is just a lot of uncertainty regarding the Huskers. Heck, I'm not certain. I expect the D to be good as usual, but the O, who knows? They could play great or they could stink it up. The runors, inconsistancy, injuries all seem like kind of a perfect storm.
I was 19 in 1971 when Nebraska #1 played Oklahoma #2. I can remember Johnny the Jet Rodgers running back that punt 70 some yard punt like it was yesterday; Thanksgiving day, Rodgers, Tagge, Glover, Kinney, etc. "Holy man, woman, and child ..." Oklahoma/Switzer was the team/coach that I loved to hate.
i would like to believe this one if anything.... we know t-magic was a strong strong strong competitor and i could see this... but totally the wrong way to go about making the situation known.... i think doing this would really hurt his rep with the guys on the team... i mean the offense knows CG isnt the best but i bet they resepect him a whole lot more than t-magic... which means when t-magic comes back there will be a lot of work to foster positive relationships with the guy he would be playing with......
What? You'd think TM had been taking his lead from this board or something.
Taylor was outstanding. The only BAD thing he did was lull me into thinking things were going in a good direction ... that is, if Callahan would have replaced the defensive staff.
"Handled"? Don't think so. Although TX played a solid game, Nebraska beat themselves with mental errors; 3 or 4 dropped passes for TD's that should have been gimmes.
If Watson and Martinez are reading this we will win.
My only concern is you guys are giving away the store to TU. There could be burnt orange spies about.
There was so much wrong with this game I don't think one guy can be fingered. The team was not ready to play which is primarily the coache's responsibility. They'll go to work on it and hopefully come out of this better than before. We're fortunate we weren't playing a stronger team cuz we got outplayed by SDSU.
