  1. Green Bay also has a limited number of people. Lambeau just expanded to 80,000 plus and there is still a 35 year wait for season tickets. I would LOVE to see Memorial Stadium develop into the largest stadium in the B1G.
  2. That every board likes and respects the teams they normally pummel but hate the teams that have the ability to beat them on a regular basis... It's a foregone conclusion that ISU is the most liked and respected team in the Big 12... Cy...thats not totally true. If you notice, almost every post "likes/respects" OU and it's not like OU never beats Nebraska. It stems from years of competitive respect. The OU fans are not complete idiots like some others in the Big 12. I would bet that if you looked into the OU boards you would see the same respect for Nebraska that Nebraska fans hold for OU......it's a good solid rivalry that should never end.
  3. Frazier was 20 years ahead of his time. Can you imagine what he could do, in say a Texas Tech or an Arkansas run offense today?
  4. Ummmmmmm. The Hogs hung 52 on him
  5. It still beats Danny Ford chewing his "Red Man" on the Clemson sideline in 1981 and spitting that crap all over the field
  6. Every football fan has a playoff scenario and many are very feasible, however, I agree with Kirk Herbstreit. There will NEVER be a playoff in Division 1 football because of the millions of dollars floating around the Bowl system. Money talks and the Bowl people own the money and will never agree to anything other than what they have today. He did say that it's possible that some day in the future there may be a "plus one" game but that will be as far as it ever gets.
  7. My Son is an OU grad and attended there when Tom and Barry were going at it every year. He and I both have always had the utmost respect for the Husker football program. He now lives in Boulder, attends all home games and he is livid over the attitude of the CU fans. They are obnoxious, arrogant asses (mostly) and treat visiting teams with little or no respect. I have often wondered how the entire focus of one fan base can deteriorate to the CU level. And even more puzzling is how does one "fix" it?
  8. Wow !!!! You nailed it. I will never forget the look on Mannings' face when Woodson was announced. The Heisman has been a sham for several years and is based on ESPN and the Eastern Press popularity
  9. Yeah - those people who really know the ins and outs of college football pity us... and that's not a good thing. Take it from an objective observer. There is neither laughter or pity. It's more amazement and shock. It's like a head-on train wreck. Oh... you may find some snide snickering from the young and stupid, but most observers are just shocked. I agree with MUTigerFan......it's more shock than pity. Nebraska was so powerful for so long and now they are on the wrong end of a "70s hanging" and the shock is evident. When they announced the Husker score at halftime of the Arkansas/South Carolina game there was not a cheer but a collective gasp. You guys hang in tough.....things will cycle and then it's back to pencilling in Kansas, Iowa State, Missouri, etc.
  10. As a College football fan since the early 40s and a former legal resident of 18 States, my top 10 WORST fans are as follows: 1. Penn State 2. Colorado 3. Missouri 4. Georgia 5. Miami 6. Michigan 7. Kansas 8. Texas A & M 9. Wisconsin 10. Virginia Tech. Top 10 BEST fans: 1. Auburn 2. Nebraska 3. Texas 4. Ohio State 5. Stanford 6. Air Force 7. Tennessee 8. Illinois 9. Washington 10. Arkansas
  11. As a "newbie" to the Husker board will someone please explain why Colorado is the choice to beat of all the Big12 schools? Nebraska has beaten them fairly regular over the years. Is it the fans? Is is the geography? What? I am very curious. ......
  12. Great post, HANC. I attended the Arkansas/Auburn game a couple weeks ago and some idiot was flying around the stadium with a "fire Nutt" sign. I felt the same way you are feeling. These are 18 and 19 year old athletes who have practiced in the searing heat of August and play their hearts out every week. They don't need some bozo telling them "they suck." The Huskers will return to prominence based upon a great Nebraska tradition but the fans have got to maintain their support. Hang in there, my friend....
  13. USC is loaded with talent. They have three "Parade Players of the Year" and that is just at QB (Booty, Sanchez and Mustain). They get most of the talent in the Southern half of California plus many high school All Americans from other parts of the country. If Carroll stays there, I don't see them dropping off much. A two loss season at USC is not a "demise."
  14. You may be talking about Sherrod Harris, the Freshman QB. They have a RB coming in that they say compares to Ricky Williams. If the Longhorns could keep the Texas kids at home, they would be in the NC hunt every year. I read recently that 81 Division One schools have at least one Texas kid on their roster.
