  1. I'm paraphrasing because I can't find the quote right now, but its on the back-jacket of one of Osbourne's or Devany's books. From a K-St lineman from the 90's. When asked what it was like playing those Huskers he said "You'd go out there and line up across from them, and even before the first snap you would be intimidated by there size and physicality. By what you knew was about to happen. You would feel every hit for a month. They would beat you up, they would break you mentally, you wouldn't want to play football ever again, they'd push you down into the mud and leave you bloody and bruised... After all that, they'd reach down into the mud, and help you to your feet. And they'd line-up again for the next play. We had to do that for four quarters."
  2. Me too. That fealt like the most natural B10 rival to me... I know some here feel differently, but if PSU, Iowa, and Wisconsin were all in the schedule every year, I think I would care most about the PSU game most years. That would be the division game I wolves did/would circle on the pre-season calendar.
  3. Yeah maybe so, but why not always have NU v Wisc on Halloween? This really feels like a good time in the year for the Wisc game IMO. Plus this way the B10 can have a cool division rivalry on Halloween and in the final week of the season with NU v Iowa (plus osu v mich if you think thats important)... NU v Wisc can anchor Halloween. NU v Iowa can anchor black Friday. I like how NU v NW openef conference play this year too, that would be cool regularly. I get it, I'm just not a fan of having 5 or 6 "rivalry" games, I'd rather just have 1 that you can focus on or maybe 2. All of these trophy games are kinda silly and OSU vs. Michigan is one of the greatest rivalries in all of sports. To have one of our games get to that level again would be great. Plus if you live in the State of Iowa, like I do, you'd understand rather quickly where I'm coming from. Iowa fans are horrible, but they are awful quite this season. No I agree about the trophies. The only trophy I recognize as a legit trophy is the Broken Chair. But at the same time. I see Iowa, wisc, nw, and minn as a rivals, all to varying degrees of course. Wisc on Halloween feels just as natural to me as Wisc on Thanksgiving. Plus my gf teaches at Iowa, so that makes Thanksgiving fun.

  5. He wasn't being a cry baby about the staff. He was responding to another tweet from a fan comparing him to the stock market. This is a non-issue.
  6. I hope the local writers get their fair share of good info, but I am really excited to have an outside journalist that appears to be on our side. But one that also isn't a "national" reporter. He has a familiarity about his writing that national guys don't have. Having a jounalist connected to this team, but that works & writes on the west coast could pay dividends on the recruiting front. The more west coast exposure, the better.
  7. Whatif isntead of retireing after 97 Osbourne waited until after the 01 season? Regardless of the seasons inbetween, he would've ended his career with a NC win over the team that defined his career. Bringing a fitting and ironic close to his coaching career - and maybe would've kept him out of politics. And in the mean time maybe he would've realize that Bohl was the man to endorse as HC, not Solich. And instead of NDSU winning 4 in a row, maybe we'd be talking about NU doing something along those same lines. Also, if TO hadn't retired when he did, then Michigan fans' argument of TO/NU only getting that 97 title as a retirement gift of sorts would truely be put to rest. Also, Steve Peterson might still have a job in Lincoln then.... What ifs...
  8. That's not really a problem though. Its definitely not a problem that we can control, we just have to pony-up. There will always be other big programs looking for new HCs -- this is as good of year as any to make a change actually. This year its Michigan and Florida, plus maybe Miami or VT Last year it was USC, Texas, Penn State, and Washington... The year before was tOSU, Oregon, Stanford, Wisconsin, TT, Arkansas... ... Florida, Penn St, UCLA, aTm.... Florida St, Auburn, Miami.... Michigan, USC, Tennessee.....
  9. They might be able to do temporary banners for basketball games, but it's probably not something that the University would be able to do on a permanent basis, since the arena is city-owned. There was some public outcry in Lincoln when the block N was put on the exterior of the arena. We gotta hang banners from it. It would be extremely disappointing if we didn't. The Staples Center is city owned, and has Lakers, Clippers, and Kings banners and retired jersey's hanging at all times... Thats the only example that comes to mind, but Im sure there are others.
  10. Its not entirely out of the question that he joins the 10000/4000 club. TM had 2871 pass yards and 1019 rush yards last season. He will need 3409 pass yards (538 more than last season.) and 1142 rush (123 more than last season) to make it happen though. It will be super difficult and mostly unlikely, but it isn't out of the question. We would need the stats from the conference title game to make it happen though. We do have an extra home game this year, and avoid UW & OSU, so that helps.
  11. The grey facemasks look amazing on the game. It makes us look much more retro than we look with white socks/shoes.... I won't be disappointed if we do have grey in real life, even if its just for a game. They look good.
  12. I think they did all the stadium imagery last year. If that's the case I don't think the east stadium expansion will be included, although I would love to be surprised. That would be awesome if they do. I also hope they change it so our stands arent mostly white like they have been in the past few years. Not sure if any one else has noticed this as well. They fixed it. It might not be perfect, but it looks way better this year.

Well, I see that Memorial Stadium's capacity is set to 92k. Still not sure if the actual east-side expansion is on the game, but the capacity is there.
