  1. So who do you guys think is in line for a Husker offer? Seems to me based on the interest of other schools that Strom & Kitrell are the most deserving, and the Huskers could really use them as well. There's other guys like Ciurej, Arnold, Begley, etc. that I could see getting a late offer as well. Not Vedral since he doesn't fit the scheme, but he's talented also. P.S. I know we offered Broc Bando, but has anybody heard anything about Cordarrius Bailey, the guy who moved to MS from Lincoln High? Seems like he would also be one the staff would be giving a look.
  2. Does somebody have a link confirming this hire? Maybe I missed something, but I don't see it anywhere...
  3. Just out of curiosity, how would an 8-team playoff affect the conference runner-ups? For example this year, going into Conf. Champ week, the Top 8 was: 1. Bama 2. Oregon 3. TCU 4. FSU 5. tOSU 6. Baylor 7. Arizona 8. Michigan State (9. KSU) (10. Miss. State) Arizona loses the Conference Championship and falls out of the Top 8, so then you have teams like Miss. State, Mich. State, Kansas State, etc. making it into the Top 8 and the CFP without having even played in their conference championship. Does this somewhat penalize conference runner-ups in favor of 3rd or 4th place teams? It seems like it'd be almost better to not make your Conf. Champ game in that case
  4. I can confirm from my sources it's definitely this guy...
  5. Something that I haven't really read in this thread yet - we're all talking about what the Big Ten and the SEC will do to the ACC, with some Big East/C-USA implications involved as well, but where does the Pac-12 sit in all this? surely they're not going to stand pat with 12 when the others are going to 16 and beyond, are they? would they be content to poach decent schools from the Mountain West, like Boise St., snag an independent like BYU, or would they look to the Big XII? just wanted to know if you guys in the know have heard anything. Thanks!
  6. But you can't stop the change, no more than you can stop the sun from setting...
  7. so beating the #7 team in the nation by 2 scores isn't a big win because they're Missouri and it was at home, yet you cite KANSAS FREAKIN' STATE as a big win for Frank? Cause Kansas State was unranked at the time, and we played them at home, too. "So, yea, we beat Kansas State, but really since when has Kansas State been considered a program changing or big win at all? We also played them at home" just saying EDIT: also would like to note that we were losing at halftime to that KSU team, and *only* won by 10. Kansas State was 4-4, and 2-4 in the Big XII when we played that game as well. So I don't see how they were a "damn good" team that year...
  8. Knevel's case sounds a bit like a recruit from a couple years ago named Mickey Johnson. Mickey had Suh throwing Colt McCoy to the ground as his screensaver, was a huge Pelini fan, etc. and had us and UCLA as his top 2 for most of the summer. But he always seemed to change his "leader" to the school he last visited. Knevel seems to be a bit of the same way - what with almost committing after the Wisconsin game, then naming Purdue his leader after his visit. One to keep an eye on, but I think this kid will be swayed by whoever gets his visit last.
  9. The loss is frustrating, but I'll support Bo, because I know his players want to play for him, and I think he's a good coach, and has room to improve, but he's not elite yet, nor has he learned that you need an elite coaching staff to succeed in this day and age (no offense to guys like Papuchis/Beck, they're good coaches, just maybe not ready to be coordinators, and in over their heads a little bit). I would say Bo deserves the rest of this season, AND next season, unless we aren't bowl eligible this year. The 2013 season will have about as easy of a schedule as we can get, and our team will be arguably in the best position to succeed, with much of the offense being upperclassmen, and the defense is a question mark because of how many starters we lose, but I also think we have plenty of talented players to replace them. Nevertheless, if Bo and co. can't get it done (as in a conference championship/BCS bowl) in 2013, then the argument is valid. My first choice would be Mark Richt - Omaha native, grew up a Cornhuskers fan, and is a highly successful coach in the best conference in the nation. I don't know if he's on the hot seat at Georgia or anything, but I would be willing to pretty much pay him whatever he wants. I think he makes $3.5 mil at Georgia, so maybe $4.5-$5 mil will make him think about it.
  10. Neither was his fault. O-line on both let them in the backfield far too easily, the 1st one he was winding up to throw, the 2nd Heard ran into him on a miscommunication.
  11. let's not forget that Suh, going into the NFL, people criticized his style of play for simply overwhelming the opposing offensive line with his strength and speed, saying he wouldn't be able to do that against NFL lineman. Now, obviously, Suh is doing just fine in the NFL, but it was a valid point - and if our D-Lineman are trying to play like that, then there's something wrong, because quite simply, our current players just don't have that strength and speed. They need to work on their technique, rather than simply bull-rush.
  12. First off, congrats to UCLA, I think many of us thought this was going to be a relatively easy win. They simply outplayed us, no ifs, ands, or buts. Now, moving on to Nebraska. The 1st half offense was looking like the one we saw against Southern Miss, then UCLA made adjustments, and we didn't. We abandoned the run and became very one dimensional, with a QB that, even though he's improved his mechanics, is still not the best option to simply throw it around. Going away from Abdullah wasn't the right move, in my opinion, but with how the O-Line started to play (very 2011-esque), maybe it was the right decision. Hit and miss game for Beck. The Defense played very undisciplined. FINISH YOUR TACKLES!!! There were no adjustments made, I can't believe how many times we saw UCLA use that wheel route/hook screen, and it worked EVERY SINGLE TIME! There were too many blown coverages, the D-Line didn't get any push, and the LB's kept missing tackles. a poor performance all around for everybody. Special Teams was up and down. I think Maher's confidence is shaken this season, he almost got it back with the 54 yarder, but then missing another simple 35+ yarder later just crushed it again. The coverage was better this game, that's for sure. I also think there was a lack of effort and heart from the players. That shouldn't be the case, there were arguably more Husker fans than Bruin fans in the stadium, and this was as good as any road game to come out fiery and inspired. And I think the team fell flat in that area. Some players showed a lot of heart, especially Compton. But even with all the effort in the world, the fundamentally unsound play on both sides of the ball will get you beat. So while I think the players are lacking in talent (can we please just get some speed on the defense?), I think a lot of this comes down to coaching. All these fundamentals problems can be fixed with proper coaching. I'm starting to have serious doubts about this staff...with the amount of talent we've pulled in with the last couple recruiting classes, sometimes it feels like 4-star talent with 2-star coaching. I'm willing to chalk this game up as an aberration, move on, and come out strong the rest of the season. But 2 games in, the defense has serious questions, the D-Line specifically, the Offense is on and off, and the Special Teams are struggling. If this doesn't improve, I think some of these coaches that have questionable resumes that Bo hired for familiarity reasons need to be evaluated. Papuchis is a great recruiter (and from the looks of it, a good special teams coach), but when he took over the whole D-Line last season, the level of play dropped off. I have little faith in Els so far, Kaczenski seems to have changed nothing, Cotton/Garrison are still inconsistent, though getting better, etc. I'm not putting it all on the coaches, obviously the players have to make the plays, but it's quite obvious to me that the coaching is not top-notch, and I'm sorry, but I refuse to accept consistent 9-4 seasons, because I know we can be better than that. I thank Bo Pelini for bringing us out of the black hole known as Callahan/Cosgrove, but if we can't get it together, it might be time to find somebody that can take us that next step. Just my .02
  13. Offense QB - Martinez RB 1 - Burkhead RB 2 - Abdullah FB - Marrow LT - Sirles LG - Rodriguez C - Long RG - Choi RT - Moore TE 1 - Cotton TE 2 - Reed WR (x) - Bell WR (z) - Marlowe WR (y) - Enunwa Defense RE - Meredith DT - Steinkuhler DT - Rome LE - Ankrah Sam - Anderson Mike - Compton Will - Whaley Nickel - Evans CB - Seisay CB - Green SS - Stafford FS - Smith Special Teams We all know Maher will be K & P PR - Abdullah KR - Abdullah KR - Marlowe this is what I think the coaches will do. I'm sure a lot of other players will get rotated in, especially on the lines and in the secondary, but for the most part, I would guess that barring some surprise in camp, this would probably be the lineup, with a couple changes here and there.
  14. There seems to be a blue ribbon on Philadelphia, i dont think a commit came from there There is a recruit from Pennsylvania who would that be, Foppa? Zaire? EDIT: never mind, just saw Zaire's bio on Huskers.com, says his hometown is Philadelphia. So it's him.
  15. There seems to be a blue ribbon on Philadelphia, i dont think a commit came from there I think those 2 on the East Coast are the JUCO's. Seisay came out of a AZ JUCO, and Zaire a Cali JUCO, but when Seisay originally committed to Memphis as a HS Senior, he came out of Virginia, which seems to be where the Red A is. the other one, I can only guess is Anderson, since Thomas Brown and Corey Whitaker came out of California as well, and there's only 2 dots. But I don't know if Zaire is really from there or not.
