  1. I find this article extremely interesting and at the same time hard to follow. Could be the state my brain is in at the moment, but too many potential scenarios and such, I can't keep all the possibilities straight. Anyway, tell me what you guys think. If someone smarter than me could flowchart this all out I'd really appreciate it.
  2. Just wondering what everyone's TV habits are on Thanksgiving day... I would have added "TV show marathons" but you can only have 3 questions.
  3. race culture wars doesn't do so first. NYT starts a war on the NFL over CTE. Story at the link below. College football is the winner. Nebraska is a leader here. Does Nebraska have the special data gathering helmets. If not, they should. Just seeing all of the tats on Aaron Hernandez and anyone knew he was nuts. The lawsuit is a loser. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/21/sports/aaron-hernandez-cte-brain.html?smid=pl-share&mtrref=althouse.blogspot.com&gwh=E4B99DF1B7C251B530161790C01A93FB&gwt=pay
  4. Okay so I'm watching the NFL Network most notably the show "Path To The Draft" and I keep hearing about Oklahoma State and Texas A&M QBs Brandon Weedon and Ryan Tannehill. Based on how these guys played in college I simply can not believe that anyone in the NFL is thinking about drafting these two turds. Both are marginal QBs who were able to put up the numbers they did because the vast majority of teams they faced never blitzed them. Teams that blitzed Tannehill and Weedon ate them for lunch. I simply do not understand why these guys are even getting looks because the game tape doesn't lie. Are there any other players you guys are hearing about being drafted and saying wtf? Or do you have any other commentary on the draft?
  5. I'm intrigued by this but I haven't gotten very much info from my internet searches for my specific questions. Even the reviews seem to just talk about the features. But from what I read from some pretty angry comments underneath said reviews you HAVE to sign up to DirectTV to get this. Is that correct? You can't just buy it stand alone and stream it on a device or something? Also, one of the main attractions for me is the condensed games feature, how soon after the game is over are these condensed games available? Thanks.
  6. Will New Extra-Point Rules Cause More Teams To Go For Two? First, the new rule: Extra points will be snapped from the 15 (instead of the 2), making them a 32- or 33-yard kick. Two-point conversion attempts will still be snapped from the 2-yard-line. Both plays will be “live,” meaning defenses can return blocks/interceptions/recovered fumbles for two points of their own. During the past two seasons, according to Pro Football Focus, NFL place-kickers converted 97.6 percent of all kicks between 30-35 yards when lined up in the middle of the field. To put those figures in context, let’s plug them into the 2014 season. At 97.6 percent accuracy, we would have seen 1,200 of 1,230 extra points converted. Instead of eight misses, there would have been 30. Conservatively, the new rule should result in at an extra missed PAT a week or so. Maybe some of those will end up mattering; maybe none will.
  7. https://hailvarsity.com/news/kenny-bell-on-keith-williams-nebraska/2015/07/ Great Hail Varsity piece by Erin Sorensen. Kenny Bell talks coming back to Lincoln, training for the NFL, his impressions of Coach Williams, and his outlook for the Huskers in 2015. Way to go, Kenny. We're rooting for ya.
  8. 12. Mike Riley, Nebraska Riley is no stranger to coaching on the professional level. He had a disastrous stint running the San Diego Chargers but won two Grey Cups while in charge of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL. His pro-style system would translate seamlessly to the NFL and his nice-guy persona could serve as a nice foil to some of the more hardline personalities in the pro game. I am happy to see our coach on the list. http://www.nfl.com/photoessays/0ap3000000495537
  9. One Cornhusker in round-1, but stay tuned for round-2 which will definitely have more. Feedback os much appreciated. Thank you! http://www.thefootballeducator.com/2015-nfl-mock-draft-round-1-jan-5/
  10. Matt Slauson is quietly doing very well in the NFL. In case you don't know he plays for the Bears now and he just got a big contract extension. Just thought I would share. I like to follow the careers of former Huskers. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/chi-bears-slauson-deal-20140106,0,2409994.story I wish he still had that raccoon look he sported in college.
  11. Pretty cool that Roy Helu is now the starting running back in Washington: http://www.csnwashin...294&feedID=6355 He said he is still enjoying watching his first NFL TD run (and jump!)
  12. Lots of mock drafts out this time of year with the draft only a month or so away and I feel like we know our teams better than these analysts. So I ask, what does your five round mock draft look like for your team if you were the GM? I'm a Viking fan so if it were up to me I'd say: Round 1 (Pick 23): Justin Hunter/Tavon Austin/Keenan Allen- WR (Whoever is available) Round 1 (Pick 25): Manti Te'o- ILB Round 2 (Pick 52):Larry Warford- OG Round 3 (Pick 83):Ryan Swope- WR Round 4 (Pick 99):Bacarri Rambo- DB Round 4: (Pick 117):Tyrann Mathieu- DB Round 5: (Pick 148): Jordan Hill- DT
  13. Burkhead Maher Stafford Kind of surprised that Compton didn't get one.
  14. I'm tired of hearing useless ESPN analysis of what to do or not to do with the Pro Bowl, and the consensus seems to be to just get rid of it all together. I have a better idea, make it the first preseason game. Do away with the Hall of Fame Game and let the Pro Bowl be the start to the season. You can still play the game in Canton, which makes more sense to me than Hawaii anyhow. The way I see it is you give the best players an opporunity to prepare for the season, and kick off some of the off season rust, by playing against a comperative level of competition. They all half ass it in the Pro Bowl as well as the preaseason games, so combine the two and give people a reason to watch, as well as give the athletes a reason to care about the Pro Bowl. Thoughts?
