maryland husker
Unfortunately, that is only a listing of the Alumni Chapter watch sites. I have found that many fans of the Big Red, especially out of state, start unofficial fan clubs of their own and establish their own watch sites. Such was the reason for the birth of C.R.A.B.S. here in Maryland. We started as a mostly military member organization based out of Ft. Meade, and most members didn't want to travel into D.C. on game day to be crammed in a small pub. There is also a perception, correct or not, that certain Alumni associations are snooty and act like they are above the average fan who isn't a grad or can't afford to buy a membership. For the record, the Maryland watch site is Sonoma's Bar & Grill in Columbia, MD. http://www.sonomasbar.com Quote Link to comment

For the record, the Maryland watch site is Sonoma's Bar & Grill in Columbia, MD. http://www.sonomasbar.com I am active in our area Alumni/Fan Club. It sounds like you had a bad experience attending an "alumni" watchsite. There is a movement by the Nebraska Alumni Assn. to include FRIENDS of the University in our activities. In fact, there is a new Resolution that has been written that includes this. How do I know this? I recently attended a leadership meeting at the NAA in Lincoln. How do I know the NAA is serious about 'the big tent'? I was amazed at the number of invitees from around the country that attended and are not only not alumni members, but they never attended one class. Just love Nebraska and/or the Huskers. In Topeka, we have a LOT of non members in our Chapter. In fact, our President never attended school there. Sioux Falls does not charge any dues, ours are $17 per year for the family. This covers mailings, a free family member appreciation picnic, invites to member only tailgates, access to football tickets, opportunity to join an organized community service project, etc, etc. As a chapter we also provide guest speakers at our picnic and Founders Day Dinner. The speakers/programs have included Johnny Rodgers, Jeff Kinney, the Mackovickas', Aaron Taylor, Professor Gay on the 'physics of football, Scarlett and Creme, Sean Callahan, and the list goes on and on. The NAA does have various levels of chapter membership for groups. There are RED LETTER CHAPTERS (strongly affiliated with the association) to 'FAN CLUBS'. I think the 'c.r.a.b.s' would enjoy this affiliation. Check out the alumni association's website as there is a link to starting an affiliated club at www.huskeralum.com GBR! Quote Link to comment

Could you please add: Tracey’s 2604 Magazine St. New Orleans, LA 70130 To the watch site list for Louisiana?! Also is there any way to add “New Orleanians for Nebraska” Facebook group to the information so people can locate that page for updates? Thanks! Quote Link to comment
