He is seriously questioning the legality of the BCS system under anti-trust laws. Now, I am totally in favor of a playoff system and don't care for the BCS, but I care even less for our massive government sticking its nose into yet another sector of our lives it doesn't need to be involved in. WTF :ahhhhhhhh:hellloooo:boxosoap:madash:rant

Don't our elected officials have more important things to worry about besides the BCS? If the Socialist-in-Chief thinks that sticking his nose into the BCS will boost his dismal approval ratings, he's got another thing coming.

Premature. I try not to judge presidents until several years later. History might well look differently on Obama (and W. Bush) in 50 years. Keep in mind that Lincoln was one of the most hated presidents ever . . . but now is thought to be one of the best. Not saying Obama is comparable to Lincoln . . . just saying we'll have to wait and see how things shake out.

Lincoln was put in a tough position on both sides, but he didn't require a teleprompter to give a speech. Some of his speeches and letters are among the greatest ever. Did he have a teleprompter, or a guy to write his speeches? No he didn't. Not to mention that Lincoln was known for examining an issue, coming to a conclusion, and sticking to his guns. Obama is a worse flip-flopper than Brett Favre. He hasn't taken a solid stance on anything, except health care reform, which is one of the worse ideas (as currently being tried to implement) to come out in a while. The guy stands for nothing except socialism and a bigger government. Both are exactly what a stand against, and what our country was founded against. I really believe that the election of Obama confirms what some have expected, namely that most Americans are unable or unwilling to think for themselves and simply follow the hype. Think about the Heisman race this year. I rest my case

1. Only because the teleprompter wasn't invented yet. Lincoln's speeches were written out by hand ahead of time and he memorized/read them from that written copy. The use of a teleprompter is irrelevant.

2. Lincoln's speeches weren't recognized as "some of the greatest ever" until much later. The Gettysburg Address was initially dismissed. It's power and significance was only realized later.

3. Wow. I don't think you've studied Lincoln much. Check out how his stance on slavery (just to pick an issue) changed over the course of his presidency. Lincoln was just as much of a "flip flopper" as any politician. His strategies changed as needed.

4. I agree with the disdain for the Obama hype. It annoys me just as much as it annoys you. I'd guess the difference between me and you is that the mindless Obama hate fueled by Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck, and Fox News annoys me just as much as the hype. The truth is somewhere in the middle.

Finally, don't take this as me being a fan of Obama. I'm still lukewarm, at best, about the guy. WE did elect him though so he has the opportunity to succeed or fail. To quote you, "I rest my case."

I can't fathom how we can be less than 14 months past the George W. Bush presidency and already think that Obama is "worse."

Exactly. The "Bush is the worst president in history" got annoying quickly as well. Odds are that neither Bush nor Obama are the worst . . . or even close to the worst presidents in history. If I were asked to guess I'd say that both are average or slightly below average. However, that opinion could change drastically for the better or worse over the next decades.

Meh. Maybe I'm just jaded, but I don't think we've had a decent president since Reagan. Our choices are always two evils, or three if you account for Ross Perot's candidacies.

This is one hell of a country. Surely we can come up with better candidates than:

Bush/Dukakis

Clinton/Bush

Clinton/Dole

Bush/Gore

Bush/Kerry

Obama/McCain

That is NOT a list of the best/brightest this country has to offer, not by a long shot. It's an indictment of the political machine more than an indictment of the country as a whole, but the end result is the same - we're not working with top-notch people.

I agree with all of this.

Decent??? Nobody that runs for president, or any other political office for that matter, is decent. How can that even be plausible when the job entails running other people's lives, stealing people's money and using violence to achieve whatever wishes or whims he or she might have?
