Huskers Finish Second at Music City Classic

Smyrna, Tenn. - Nebraska senior Cassandra Leuthold was named Most Valuable Player, as the NU bowling team finished second at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic last weekend. The Huskers clinched a first-place seed in Sunday's double-elimination tournament, but fell to Vanderbilt in the finals, 4-3.

The Huskers had defeated Vanderbilt twice over the three-day tournament, and even held a 3-1 lead over the Commodores in the championship match. However, Vanderbilt, behind senior Josie Earnest, rallied in the final games to defend their Music City Classic title, 4-3.

The Music City Classic marks the end of the 2010 regular season. NU will now anxiously await a bid to the 2010 NCAA Championships, which will be held at North Brunswick, N.J. on April 8-10.
