How is this different than any other government mandated rule or requirement? You choose to ride a motorcycle, which includes a requirement to wear a helmet. You choose to add on to your house, which requires a permit. With this health insurance bill, there is no choice. The problem is, people choose not to have health insurance, but that doesn't prevent them from needing health care. When they inevitably need it and they can't afford it, who pays? bbeerma2 Posted March 23, 2010 Share Posted March 23, 2010 I live in a country with Socialized Health Care. Quite frankly, it's not a bad system. You pay in to ZUS if you feel like it, and then you get coverage for any big-ticket items although you have to wait. It's a nice safety net for if you fall chronically ill. At the same time, it makes health coverage through private companies and private hospitals more efficient and more affordable. I can get great service including all surgeries for 75 bucks a month.
