corncraze
Nebraska 5 titles in the modern era, Notre Lame 3-4 depending what date you start from. Precisely... we have them beat in most areas. Cold weather is the same and we are actually closer in distance plus his brother is there. CLEARLY... we should have the edge over Notre Dame... Football wise I agree. If he cares about academics . . . a Notre Dame degree will open doors that a Nebraska degree will not. THIS. Honestly Notre Dame probably laps NU in academics. And walking into a game in South Bend just has that feeling that you don't get in many places, Wrigley Field and Fenway come to mind. They are about the game and are awesome. As aspeedlin said I fear the Southeast a lot more than ND, but never count them out of anything. Chip Kelly sadly is turning that ship around. They do have better academics, but the love affair with Notre Dame is ridiculous. The feeling you get on campus is subjective. I don't understand how it's Wrigley-esque. If Notre Dame wasn't a Catholic school it woulnt nearly be as hyped in academics or even as much in athletics (though football would still be considered very historic, but maybe not AS MUCH). The catholics made it their harvard (partly because many couldn't get into an Ivy League school, partly because they were catholic) and nearly every single one not only adopted the school, but glorified it to a new level. This is partly why they have such a big fanbase and why they have such a sense of "history" and "prestige". Trust me, I went to catholic high school, and anything related to notre dame is greatly inflated. So that atmosphere on campus, isn't much more than hot gas. It is a comment about the beauty of the game being stripped down to it's purist forms. No huge commercial entities with their names smeared everywhere. No huge jumbotron. Just pure sport. I enjoy the modern feel of stadiums and the cool things added year in and year out, but stepping into either of those places just has a different feeling and I love it. I would call WRIGLEY Field pretty commercialized haha. That's always been part of sports, all the way back to the Roman collesium, were rich Roman families paid to have their names chiseled on the inner walls of the arena. Quote Link to comment
epocSoN
Texas just wrote an article on him that makes it sound like Texas might be an early leader. But it was written by an orangebloods writer so take it for what its worth. It said many of the Texas players have been taking a cue from the Jamaal Turner handbook and reaching out to Peat to come to UT. I'll wait to make a prediction until after he makes his visits, sounds like he's doing the same. Quote Link to comment

Treand3
Visiting Texas July 21st-23rd. Looking to visit Auburn and nebraska after the Texas visit. Definitely gonna have to put our best foot forward for A Peat. Don't like that Auburn and Texas are two of his early leaders...I also don't like either program in general. Quote Link to comment

I also find it a little odd that Auburn and UT are in again on a top AZ lineman, first Westerman and now Peat. For Westerman, I know UT had a below average season and some coaches left, but his switch was a tad shocking considering that rarely happens at UT and I actually think Josh Turner had more of a case to leave than CW with Muschamp leaving. I wonder what their individual recruiting pitches are, out of curiosity, and I'm serious. Quote Link to comment

Atbone95
I realize we can't get every recruit, but... in all honestly, if we lose Andrus to Texas, I just might cry. Quote Link to comment
Nexus
FWIW, Todd Peat has been bonding heavy with the 2011 OL this summer. Particularly Reeves, Klachko and Sterup. If Twitter is any indication they're hitting it off quite well. Lots of inside jokes between the bunch. Quote Link to comment

Nexus
shame Nexus.. don't you know that following athletes on twitter is stalking.. Guilty! Except I don't tweet. I just follow and observe the banter among the masses. Most of my 200+ follows are news-related (sports, politics, music & arts, etc) for info. gathering. Your point is valid though, sarcasm or not. The social networking phenomenon is one giant stalk-fest, for better and worse. Quote Link to comment

ADS
Still think it's either nebraska or USC in the end. Quote Link to comment
