I think it would be cool to get an extended version of the "Introduce Yourself" thread going, to learn a little more about each other, but on a more "non-Husker" basis. You never know how much you might have in common with someone else, or even when we might be able to help each other out with our various areas of expertise. Networking is a powerful thing. :cheers

 

I'll get one started, and others please feel free to start some other topics in this forum you think would be interesting to learn about your fellow Huskerboard Nmates. Or if you have suggestions for other questions to add to this list, post em up and I'll add em.

Where is your ideal place to live? When I'm old and married, St. Simon's Island, GA

 

Work:

What is your current occupation? doctoral student

What has been your best job ever? Working at the UGA gym as a student, especially during the summer

Worst job? Circuit City holiday associate. Retail around Christmas is a nightmare

Dream job? Backup NFL QB (get paid a lot, don't really ever have to play)

 

Hobbies:

What do you enjoy doing in your free time? Watching college sports, watching CNBC, working out (although I don't really enjoy it), going downtown, visiting friends in other towns/college towns/visiting new college stadiums, reading

Strangest/most interesting hobby, skill or personal anecdote? Spring Break 2007: Gibril Wilson of the Cincinnati Bengals chose me to take part in the MTV-esque, "Spring Break Games". I had to run into the ocean and trade bathing suits with some random girl which isn't something I do a lot of in my spare time. I also have a thing for female news anchors.

Out of Staters: Born in Wyomming, lived in Idaho and currently in CT.

Where do you currently live? Berlin Connecticut

Where have you lived the longest? Connecticut

Where has been your favorite place to live/visit? Favorite place to live: the west/rockies. Visist: Hawaii

Where is your ideal place to live?

Anywhere laid back where i can enjoy a brew and watch/listen/discuss husker football.

 

My current occupation is a butcher/meatcutter for the last 4 years. I love what i do and enjoy it every day, I also am a caterer on weekens and manage a small market weekly.

 

Dream job: working for espn covering sports all day every day. Or owning my own sports bar.

 

Hobbies: Husker football, working on my car, butchering(obviously) cooking, drinking with the pals.

Current City: Ankeny, IA

I've been in the DSM Metro since March of '97

Ideal place to live: either Red Oak or Shenandoah, IA as those arIdeale my hometowns.

Ideal place to live: Omaha or Kansas City as I'm a Royals and Chiefs fan and would love to experience the vibe of living in a pro sports town.

 

Work: I write contracts and maintain several reports.

Best job: Hard to say, I graduated from college in May ofr 1993 and started with the company I'm with today the following August.

 

Hobbies: watching sports and my blog.

a) The Socialist Republic of Vermont

b) New Jersey, born in Hoboken

c) I enjoyed living in El Paso and Juarez... from 1989 till 1997. I loved the multi-culturism and the Mexican food.

d) Outside the US I had lived in Juarez and Hungary for extended periods of time. BudaPest was a great place to live, but I did not have enough time to travel everywhere i wanted to go.

a) I work on America's WMD program.

b) When I went to Juarez as plant manager for a new plant that was being built; the president of the company had me visit all country clubs in the area to see which we would get a corporate membership.

c) The VP of Ops told me to be the hammer, to make life difficult for certain employees so they would quit. I said no, and was out myself about a month later.

d) Working with great people with the opportunity to travel, I am a people-person.

a) I enjoy reading up on history, religion, politics, philosophy and science. I have never played a video game or sent a text message in my life. My cell phone is 2003 vintage.

A tie between Denver and Melbourne, Australia

Where is your ideal place to live?

Some combination of those two places... Melbourne is a great, great place but I can't handle being 8,000 miles from my family.

 

What is your current occupation?

My family runs a music store in metro Denver.

 

What has been your best job ever?

My current one, the family business.

Worst job?

Worked in a call center.

 

Dream job?

A professional musician.

 

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Playing golf, and music. I play bass guitar in an 80s cover band with my brother and I also do a lot of home recording.

 

Strangest/most interesting hobby, skill or personal anecdote?

I love golf course architecture, and used to draw maps of famous courses on placemats when I was a kid.

Where do you currently live? Tulsa, Ok - Grew up in Parker, SD. Went to college at SDSU then got married and moved to Tulsa 33 yrs ago

Where has been your favorite place to live/visit? Visit: Loved the energy of NYC - but couldn't live in that concrete jungle. I think Yosetime is my favorite spot. The 1st time you see the valley it takes your breath away.

Where is your ideal place to live? Colorado - or any other mtn place

What is your current occupation? Corp Credit mgr. also teach part time at a local univ.

What has been your best job ever? GM for a GE company

Worst job? Hauling bales in 100 degree S.D weather while in high school. also anytime I have to paint. In HS, Dad had us paint all of the farm buildings red one summer, hated painting ever since.

Dream job? Teaching at a univ full time

 

Hobbies:

What do you enjoy doing in your free time? Photography, Guitar, hiking, exercise club (need lots more of that)

Strangest/most interesting hobby, skill or personal anecdote? farting before bed - my wife just loves it. chuckleshuffle Seriously, I enjoy helping others find their life mission. Primary I do this through one of the classes I teach. I beleive we all have a God given mission in life and we are truly 'energized' when we live out that mission. The rest of the time we are just taking up space and wasting time.

Where have you lived the longest? My dad was in the Army, so we moved around a lot. I've lived here for eight years, the longest of any tour in my life.

What has been your best job ever? security guard for a 311 concert

Worst job? dishwasher at Marriott Tan-tar-a

I watch a lot of sports, and I play fantasy sports a lot. I coach my children in youth sports. I love my wife. I read books, watch movies, and play Playstation. I've lived overseas for 16 years, and I only get back to Nebraska during the summer, so I miss Memorial Stadium! I get to watch them on AFN a few times a year.

 

Strangest/most interesting hobby, skill or personal anecdote?

 

I like to sing and act. I'm the drama teacher, so I've directed several plays.

What is your current occupation? USPS Automation Technical Specialist. Next February, retired.

What has been your best job ever? USPS Automation Technical Specialist or maybe Air Force Radar Tech

Worst job? Truck Stop resturant dishwasher (14 years old; $1.15 per hour salary !!)

Dream job? Pro baseball player (I wish !)

I served Air Force career; 8 years. I want ALL our men will required active military time or at least reserve status. Some countries already required.

What has been your best job ever? None. Since I've started working I've done field work, roofed, mowed lawns, and now I work at the circulation desk of the East Campus Library.

 

Worst job? Field Work (Roguing)

 

Dream job? Creative Director (Advertising)

 

What do you enjoy doing in your free time? Listen to music, watch movies, long, spontaneous road trips with friends, watching college football/basketball, smoke the occasional joint, play retro video games, and have a few cold ones with the ones I love.

 

Strangest/most interesting hobby, skill or personal anecdote? I'm a big movie/television quote guy. I'm very particular with how/where I watch movies and television or listen to music. I like to go in depth and really break down a movie/show/song/album. I'm passionate about the details of entertainment.
