I'm too scared to open it

Anybody try this out. My wife and I are going to open it up after the 1st of the year. Our plan is to be in shape before we head to Vegas in May. I told her that I want to take a before and after picture to see if we see any changes. My wifes friend has tried it and within a month he lost 17 pounds.

just use it! motivation and determination has more to do with it than the name on workout guide.

it obviously gets results, but wanting it, ordering it, and sticking to it are far from accomplishing 17lbs weight loss.

you can do it!!! one of my aunts friends asked me if i'd 'dance' at her sister's bachelorette party in march.

this was a day or two before i visited a hometown bar for the holidays for the first time in a year and was asked for my ID by a lady thats known me for ~5 years. she tried to play it off saying i had a fuller face and hadnt shaved.

bam!

motivation x2-even if i never dance or if she was actually serious. yours is looking good in vegas. now conquer that dvd and make yourself feel good!

I'm mustering up the courage to get started on it too. I need to get back into shape, not so much that I look bad, but my clothes aren't beginning to fit quite right--which bothers me.

This problem also prompted me to ask for Nike+ for Christmas and I've already started logging miles onto it. We should start a 'fitness support group' on HB to help keep everyone on track.

I am for that, motivation is the biggest key, and it is too easy to get unmotivated when first starting out. I just have to get it in my mind that this is a lifestyle change. Good luck to everyone!!

Huskerjock, it is sometimes hard to get motivated to workout by yourself, but if your wife is doing it with you, you guys will have a blast. I did p90x with my ex-gf and had a blast with it. Then she quit about 50 days in, I tried to continue but had no motivation anymore and also quit. It def. gets you results, I got compliments at work from the freakin lunch ladies (I work at an elementary school). Just make sure you keep her doing it with you. Make a competition out of it or something and keep pushing her. It is def. hard, but the results are worth it!

I recommend taking pictures. It's pretty sweet to see the improvement. I'm not sure what your diet is like, but I think that was a big part for me. Not that I've ever been "fat," but when I cleaned up my diet was when I saw the most results. I'm going to start back up either next week or after the bowls are over.

congrats on getting P90X....if you can push yourself and stick with it, you'll be happy with your results. Do note, that most people don't see the bulk of the changes until the third month/phase. I hit my target weight pretty quickly just by changing my diet...but if you're wanting to get cut, it'll take a couple months before you start seeing the majority of the results.

I did the program starting last April until around mid Fall this year. Once football season and the holidays hit, I was off my routine and eating crap again. I'm getting married in 5 months and my goal is to start the program up again here soon so that I'm ready for our honeymoon on the beach!

The best results I experienced were cardiovascular wise...surprisingly. I found the plyometrics workout helped me immensely for my indoor soccer team I play on with a bunch of guys. Pretty soon I was agile like a cat and able to stay in the game for the whole 50 minutes!

btw, if you want motivation, check out this guys thread. Incredible results:

Hell you can do it by yourself. I do it daliy by myself. I've found that I actually look forward to the workout, and feel like a wimp on those rare occassions when I skip.

Today was Chest, Shoulders, Triceps, and Ab Ripper X and it was awesome.

I'm a 50+ year old guy and I do it daily. There is only one excuse for any of you not to do it daily. The amswer is above.

It doesn't make you a wimp for not having motivation. For some people, it is harder to find motivation than others. Some people like working out with other people to have the other person push them. Doesn't make you a wimp. But congrats on you doing it by yourself. And Chest, shoulders, triceps was one of my favorites.

You're right. My intent wasn't to call anybody a wimp. What I meant was - one wants to do it or they don't.

actually have the program, but I didn't use it so can someone refresh what equipment I need? I live in a condo with a really nice workout facility, but I don't know how I would take the program to the gym. I wish there was an app on my phone so that I could listen to it while I was at the gym.

weights/resistance bands, pull up bar (or some place to loop resistance bands around to simulate a pullup), and room to workout (for the jumping exercises).

One person I know ripped the audio off the discs and put them on her iPod. That way she can listen at the gym. But you'd need to know how to do each exercise first.
