thought he wanted to be close to home? Now he wants to leave to finish high school on the east coast? That sounds smart, because when you have a team of studs that means less touches and less stats.

That crossed my mind as well. You may have tougher competition in practice but you'll be getting less time in games. One other thing for doing this however is that he will get a feel for what east coast living is like before making a college choice. Which isn't a bad idea. Then he will know for sure.

Pluses & minuses for him. He'll have to figure it out best he can.

I posted this in the recruiting area, but I'll repost here as well. I know I might be in the minority and I'm certainly up for discussion if anyone has any similar or contrasting thoughts on it.

I'm starting to be over Akoy playing here. I understand he needs to do best for him, but if he can leave his HS teammates and coaches that have been with him over 3 years, then that does not speak to a team mindset.

We need recruits that really want to be here and bleed Husker red. We've had too many that have been halfway into it (Diaz comes to mind among others). At this point, I'm thinking I'd rather have two Ubel's then one Akoy. A shift in culture is just as important as an upgrade in talent.

I am far from saying I wouldn't want him. If he leaves for this high school then by some stroke of fate picks Nebraska anyways would he not bleed Husker red? I think we are just so foreign at seeing basketball talent like this in our backyard. This kind of thing happens all the time at the level Akoy is capable or thinks he can perform at.

I mean Taylor Martinez went to 3 different high schools. Is he any less of a Husker because of his actions in high school?

that's completely different. Taylor switched schools before he even knew about Nebraska football. Akoy already nows about Nebraska, the traditions, and everything about the basketball program. sure he could still bleed husker red if he went to high school elseware for tougher competition, but he obviously doesnt bleed husker red period, so it doesnt matter.

I don't see a problem with him moving. He is a young guy looking to make a career out of basketball. We all know the competition in Nebraska is limited and going to this new school will provide him with that next step to prepare him in his career. It's a risky move considering he will have to adapt to a new team, new surroundings, and hightened competition. These could result in him losing some of his luster... OR it could work the opposite way and turn him into a (bigger) star. Time will tell.

This is a good way for him to escape the "pressures" of being a local recruit. He can decide if his heart is at Nebraska or not, but if I had to guess I would say he goes to Georgetown considering it will be right down the road for him at his new school.

I doubt he really wants to go here. I wouldn't be surprised if he is just trying to please the locals while he is still here.

If you've followed the kids actions at all in the last few weeks you'd know that Miles is very much in the hunt for him. I think Saturdays over reaction was him referring to his folks and current team mates wanting him to stay here in high school. Its like someone saying "I hate may parents. I hate living in this house. I can't wait to move out, etc. I don't think it was anything beyond his current life and not related one bit to his college choice.
