What we need is a new center to our politics - one that defends secularism, science & free speech against their enemies on the Left & Right.

Okay, Who Had Jude Law in the 'Young Dumbledore' Pool?

Because if you guessed that the Fantastic Beasts movies would tap Jude Law to play the young Dumbledore, come collect your money. Now I’m really sad that Robert Downey Jr. didn’t get himself cast as Grindelwald somehow. Then we could have had a Sherlock Holmes reunion!

The news comes from Variety, with confirmation from Warner Bros.

At the time of the first Fantastic Beasts movie, Dumbledore is about 45. Law’s just about the right age for the role, assuming the next movies in the Fantastic Beasts series (which by now should be called “Wizarding Wars” or something, since beasts are very much less important than Dumbledore and Grindelwald) take place right after that one.

Peyton Manning finally reveals what ‘Omaha’ meant
Manning’s signature call at the line of scrimmage had a big impact on the field.
by Harry Lyles Jr.@harrylylesjr  Apr 12, 2017, 7:27pm EDT

“Omaha was just a indicator word,” Manning said to the crowd. “It was a trigger word that meant we had changed the play, there was low time on the clock, and that ball needed to be snapped right now to kind of let my offensive lineman know that ‘Hey, we'd gone to Plan B, there's low time on the clock.’ It's a rhythmic three-syllable word, ‘O-ma-ha, set hut.’”

A rhythmic three syllable word.  I'm surprised he didn't go with Tennessee.

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then winter came and the grasshopper died. And the octopus ate all his acorns. Also he got a race car. Is any of this getting through to you?

Wow.  The explosion of this is like what you see in the movies.  The car driver got toasted in his car.  Amazingly the truck driver got away without being hurt.

Eventually, they managed to catch the shark, and posted a photo of its body hanging up on the boat.

So your mate gets bit by a shark.  Do you

a) take him straight to the hospital

b) keep on trying to catch the shark, catch him and pose for a picture

NUance vs. The Mouse.

A very crafty mouse has invaded our kitchen.  Twice I've set a trap for him, and twice he's snapped it without getting caught.  And he has the gall to leave disgusting little gifts behind on the counter.  He's pretty much ridiculing my futile efforts to kill him.  Of course this means war.   :duel

I just read that story!  What the heck is that all about?

How does that happen "at least 75 times" without the cops busting the women?  None of that story makes any sense.

Season 4 of Silicon Valley has just begun airing, and yet another trope from the show is now available for fan-driven consumption. Users can download “Not Hotdog,” a SeeFood Technologies app whose description reads, “What would you say if I told you there is a app on the market that tell you if you have a hotdog or not a hotdog. It is very good and I do not want to work on it any more. You can hire someone else.”

Times Square Motorist Hits Pedestrians, Killing 1 and Injuring Several
By ELI ROSENBERG and WILLIAM K. RASHBAUMMAY 18, 2017

One person was killed and at least 22 were injured on Thursday when a car careened through Times Square in and plowed through a crowd of pedestrians in one of New York City’s most congested corridors, officials said.

Two previous DWIs.  Gotta feeling that guy is headed to the Big House for a few years.
