Landlord
Spent Friday night on the town. Not once did we have an issue with the Husker fans. We had drinks bought for us left and right. Had half the people thank us for coming and the rest told us good luck tomorrow. The bands in the bars were great and welcomed us with our fight song. We mentioned over and over the when will they turn on us. Never happened. Even after the game we got high fives and congrats. Nicest in the B1G. Went to Mistys, nice steakhouse. The bar we liked best was called the Single Barrel. Both A+ Side note: The women are top notch!!! Highly impressed. Our group is all in our early 30s. Amazing fans. Sane experience as everyone else. Overly nice. Drinks, high fives, go greens, good lucks, legs talk football, f#*k Ohio state, etc. The stadium is crazy beautiful too. Great city and hot women. I can see any people love coming here. Redux
There was an article after the MSU game in 2011 that had maybe a booster for the spartans telling of his amazing trip to Lincoln. Great read if anyone can come up with it. Found it: http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=205328345 Also from the Washington game: http://sportspressnw.com/2110762/2011/thiel-huskies-will-learn-no-place-like-nebraska And the Buckeye game: http://www.buckeyeplanet.com/forum/threads/nebraska-fans-first-class-treatment-in-lincoln.626009/ Quote Link to comment
Hujan
To me, the whole "Greatest fans" thing is almost exclusively a reference to our goodwill to opposing teams and their fans when they visit Memorial Stadium. (That, and our excellent knowledge of the game.) Quote Link to comment
Ratt Mhule
To me, the whole "Greatest fans" thing is almost exclusively a reference to our goodwill to opposing teams and their fans when they visit Memorial Stadium. (That, and our excellent knowledge of the game.) Some people give themselves too much credit sometimes. Like the "why wasn't AA in the game when Newby fumbled" people. So knowledgeable. Or the guy who called the Bo Pelini call in show the other night asking why the fake FG wasn't intentional grounding. Most people don't know as much as they think they do. Me included. Anybody could sit there on a busted pass play and say we should have run the ball. Or on a busted run play, we should have passed the ball. Doesn't make you a knowledgeable football fan. Landlord
To me, the whole "Greatest fans" thing is almost exclusively a reference to our goodwill to opposing teams and their fans when they visit Memorial Stadium. (That, and our excellent knowledge of the game.) The two things I know for certain about our fans: 1. We are leaps and bounds nicer to the opposition than we are to our own. 2. Most of us know for a fact that we are knowledgeable, more than we actually know what we're knowledgeable about. Quote Link to comment
Landlord
Added this from Randy York's NSider article about volleyball at Nebraska: Thanks for writing this column. We watched the regionals on television and commented about the lack of atmosphere in the other three cities hosting a regional. On TV, Nebraska’s sellout crowd was a big part of the action on the court, so we can see why any player in the country would want that kind of experience, especially when it counts most. College volleyball in Lincoln is like college baseball in Omaha. Players from all over the country look forward to coming to the College World Series because the experience is first class and people pay to see them play. That’s why the College World Series has never left the state. Nebraska is a huge volleyball state, and Lincoln deserves to be a national leader in the sport’s development. Nebraska’s earned it the old-fashioned way – through hard work. Steve Henderson, Orlando, Florida 2 Quote Link to comment

Would be nice seeing the nationals at NU. Its amazing how you have to hurry up and get tickets just for the College World Series, I couldn't image the same for our volleyball. Now if our Basketball could get on board. Quote Link to comment
Landlord
Reddit Thread About the Most Hospitable Fanbases "Nebraska fans were the nicest fans to take over Ryan Field bar none" "Nebraska fans were awful when they came to Madison for their first Big Ten ga...ahhh, I can't keep this up. They were great and I had more than one group of Nebraska fans personally invite me to their tailgate when UW went to Lincoln the next season. Can't wait to eventually make the trip." "Even at Colorado, where they were most hated. agree" "Yep. Great in West Lala" "Seconding Nebraska, they were nice as hell when they beat Clemson in a bowl game, and the close game with MSU 2 years ago was one of the most fun I've ever been to. Even your creepy old drunk guys are still nice." "They were nice in Ann Arbor as well. Guess they were excited to get outta the Big XII" "They were fantastic when they came to Minnesota too" "Pasadena checking in" "Great fans in Columbus as well! I love me some Nebraska fans!" "Nebraska, hands down. We split a keg of home brew with a Father-Son pair of Huskers in the parking lot before the 2010 Big XII championship game. It was cold as hell, but they were fun to talk to." "As far as strict hospitality goes, I don't think anybody can beat Nebraska. Nice, welcoming folks. Everybody was welcoming. I must have heard some variation of "We're so happy you cane on up here. Hope you have a good time even though we're going to beat your poor, lowly, peasant-like Cowpokes (but your team tried awfully hard, and we respect them for that)!" Perhaps a bit haughty, but extremely welcoming nonetheless. Probably the nicest way I've ever been told that my school sucks before!" http://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/2fd7tk/what_opposing_fan_bases_have_you_encountered_that/ 1 Quote Link to comment
