Popular Post Landlord
So, most that have been around for a while know that it's pretty common fare for a few opposing fans, coaches or administrators to have gracious and complimentary words towards our fanbase after playing us. Personally, I always take great pride in hearing this, and my heart swells with a bit of pride seeing how consistent of a trend it is. That in mind, I thought it would be nice to have a one-stop thread to document and discuss such things. I can think of several instances where I've wanted to recall something someone from an opposing school said about us but was unable to track it down, so at the very least this will be a nice resource for me to use personally. Hopefully it can be more than that, though. That being said: Michigan State - 11/5/11 "Lifelong Spartan: NU Has Nation's Best Fans" "Even "the hot dog guy comes with his cannon" and he "can tell my son's down because Michigan State is losing," so he says: 'Hey, why don't you come and help me shoot hot dogs?' And at one point, the governor of Nebraska comes over and says: 'Hey, you know you guys have a great team and we had a good game, and he literally sat there for 20 minutes and made my wife and son practically want to move to Nebraska. And I just want to say I don't have any clue if Nebraska is going to win the Big Ten championship, but I've been around this for 40 years, and you've got - it's not even close - the best fans in the country, let alone the Big Ten, and there isn't even a second. And I want you to know I came home and said all that on my radio show around the state of Michigan, and I told them flat out, you know, you can argue football all you want, but you can't argue class of the folks in Nebraska, and everyone of us has a long way to go and a lot to learn. You have so much to be proud of. I just want to tell you it was an incredible experience." Washington - 9/12/11 "Huskies Will Learn No Place Like Nebraska" "“Tremendous environment,” said Huskies coach Steve Sarkisian Monday. “Great fans. It’s what college football should be.” That is not hyperbole. Unlike the over-amped frat boys in Eugene, or the no-lifes in the Southeastern Conference or the who-cares in Los Angeles, the Huskers crowd is so into the whole college-football culture that they actually care about the opponents and their traveling fans. Ask anyone who traveled to Lincoln the last time the Huskies played there, in 1998. Like me. It was like being at an all-day Nordstrom sales training session. Everyone was polite, courteous, shook hands firmly and made eye contact directly, seemed interested in your welfare and offered to do most anything to help your visit. By the time I left, I was hoping to be adopted. I guarantee I wasn’t the only Seattle visitor so affected." Ohio State - 10/10/11 "Nebraska fans" thread at buckeyeplanet.com I would be remiss if I didn't comment on how well the Nebraska fans treated the Buckeye visitors in Lincoln over the weekend. Perhaps this has been mentioned in the game thread which I haven't read yet, but even so, it deserves its own thread, at least temporarily. My buddy and I got to Lincoln around 9 am on Saturday morning. We spent a lot of time walking around the stadium area, tailgating with some Nebraska fans, and talking to many of them after the game was over. The number of times we heard any Buckeye fans being treated rudely by any Huskers: zero. The number of times that we heard "Welcome to Lincoln", "We're glad you're here", "How do you like Lincoln"", "Good luck today", and simliar comments: I can't give a good estimate, and it's not because I was drinking, it's because the number was an amazingly high one. ..... I realize that I can't convince everybody how they should treat visitors to Columbus. But how opposing fan bases are treated does make a difference in how a University and a community are perceived. If somebody wants to be rude to a Wisconsin fan because of how they were treated in Madison, I can understand that sentiment. But when the folks from Nebraska make the visit to the Horseshoe next year, please try to remember to treat them as you would like to be treated; because that's what they do extremely well, and that's what they deserve in return. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I too went to the game on Saturday. In all seriousness, what is wrong with you Huskers? You could not have been any nicer or accomodating to us. My friends and I were aware of your reputation for hospitality but what we experienced was above and beyond. There are so many examples that I could give but the best is this: The minute we stepped into the stadium an attendant came up to us and asked us if we needed help finding our seats. We knew where we were going but accepted his offer anyway. We came in at the opposite corner of the stadium from the location of our seats but instead of walking us all the way around the stadium he takes us down to the field in a staff elevator and walked us across the field to our section. While we were down on the field he asked us if we wanted to hang out for awhile. To which we replied of course. He left us on the field unattended for probably 15 minutes before he came back to take us to our seats. Mind you we aren't a bunch of 80 year olds with walkers that need assistance, we are all in our early 30s and were obviously lit up from all the free drinks Nebraska fans had been feeding us. And this guy just let us hang out on the field like we were VIPs. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've come to the conclusion that Nebraska simply has the best fans in college football, bar none. Their hospitality and general friendliness is other worldly. I highly recommend seeing a game there and getting there PLENTY early (at least a day early) to enjoy festivities in the Haymarket, tailgating, and talking football with the locals (who really know their [Mark May]). Wyoming - 8/31/13 "Nebraska fans" thread at wyonation.com I am back from my trip in Lincoln and what a trip it was! The game was phenomenal and to see the Pokes compete like that was impressive. I just wanted to say something to the Nebraska fans that are still coming here. Thank you! I have never met friendlier people in my life than I did in Lincoln. The Big Red faithful are as genuine as they come. On Friday night i took some of the husker fans suggestions and wore gold downtown, and I am glad I did. A number of Husker fans made it a priority to come shake my hand and welcome me to Nebraska, ask me if I needed any suggestions for downtown, asked me about our team, and I got numerous invites to their tailgates for Saturday. On Saturday it was much of the same, we had some family friends who are Nebraska die hards so we went to their tailgate for pregame but a buddy of mine and I decided to check out the tailgate lot and look at some of the set ups they had, while we were walking around a number of groups came up and shook our hands, welcomed us to Lincoln, thanked us for coming, and offered us food and drinks. After the game, it was much of the same. Nebraska fans shook our hands, talked about the game, and thanked us for coming. I have been to other stadiums before and have never experienced such a kind fan base. It was an experience I will never forget and Memorial Stadium is as gorgeous of a stadium as there is to take in a football game. To be honest, Wyoming fans could learn a thing or too from Nebraska fans. I am not saying Pokes fans are rude, because in general they're not. But Nebraska fans make it a priority to make sure you are welcomed and having a great time. So to Husker nation thank you for making my experience that much better and I will be back when the Pokes come back down to Lincoln in a couple years. I will be cheering you guys on the rest of the season. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I too had an incredible experience.....from the time we arrived to minute we left Lincoln we were treated to true "Huskers Hospitality"! I was not able to get tickets in the Wyo section and was surrounded by a sea of red at the game but was treated with respect as I cheered for the Pokes and was showered with compliments about the way the Cowboys performed...... All were very impressed with Smith and all the Pokes. As we were walking out, there was a large group of Huskers fans that were on the stairs above where the dejected Cowboys were filing into the locker room giving them one final ovation......Class act Lincoln! Go Big Red! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I agree. So many people came up to me to say "Welcome to Lincoln" and "Enjoy your stay". Unreal. Even after the game people coming up to say how amazing #16 was and good luck etc,. What a great trip. I have watched the Pokes in many out of conference games, Texas, Tennessee twice, Ole Miss, Florida, Bowling Green, and Nebraska wins the nicest fan award. Southern Miss - 9/7/13 Southern Miss fan here, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the great fans and people of Nebraska. The long drive to Lincoln was well worth it. Although I wish the outcome had been a little closer, everything I had been told about the way that you welcome and treat opposing fans was completly true. My family and I have never felt more at home and welcomed. Everyone was so nice and thanked us for coming, invited us to tailgate and helpful in getting us where we needed to be. We even went to the bookstore and bought six "Huskers" shirts for our family, including my daughters, who said they will wear them on USM campus Monday. I hope that if you ever come to Hattiesburg someday we can return the same hospitality that you showed us. Oh, and Misty's was a great place to eat, so thanks for the advice. The Yeates Family or Canton, Ms. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't know Ron but I want to echo what he said. My son is a student trainer at sm and travels to many of the away games. For the past year all he can talk about is how well they were treated by the same group of kids from your school and he could not get over the folks sitting in the end zones clapping even for them as they removed equipment from the field. I had to experience this myself so the wife and I made that long drive, stopping in Branson for a few days. As we crossed the state line at Neb City a pickup with a huskers plate on the front passed us and gave us a wave and thumbs up. When we arrived the holiday inn near the stadium, a car window rolls down and a guy asked if we had a good trip up. The man checking in next to us extended a hand and said Welcome to Nebraska. The older guys who work the gates are absolutely the best. Ive hurt some feelings with the walmart sec fans here at home telling them they could all take some lessons from Nebraska fans. UCLA - 9/14/13 In regards to the #36 helmet decals worn honoring UCLA's Nick Pasquale: Been visiting nebraska boards for quite a while and know a few huskers personally. They have by far been the most classy and humble fanbase I have known as a college sports fan. It comes to me as no surprise they would do something like this. They are a good bunch and I will always wish em well. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://huskernsider....-touch-of-class "First of all I want to start by saying a very heartfelt thanks to the Athletic Director Shawn Eichorst, Head Coach Bo Pelini, to the Husker Nation, their fans, their students and their players for the compassion they showed us this week,” UCLA Coach Jim Mora said in his opening statement of Saturday’s postgame press conference. “I thought it was an incredible gesture they made here, and I think it kind of shows the class here at Nebraska. The fact that they would put a No. 36 decal (Pasquale’s number) on their helmets, and they would have a moment of silence, and their student section cheered us when we took the field and encouraged us on … you just don’t find that at many places. It is just a true testament to the people here at Nebraska and how much they care about football. We are very, very appreciative about that.” -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I know that football is very dear to your heart and you support your program whole-heartedly. I just want to say from the Bruin Nation how impressed I was with your program and your class. It was incredible loss of life that the UCLA Bruins experienced last week, and I am forever grateful and humbled by your generous gestures to honor Nick Pasquale both on your helmets and with the balloon release at your stadium. Thank you so much for this special remembrance at your home stadium. You give the true meaning of sport to your program. I will forever regard the Husker Nation as a class act and a hard-nose football program that makes the right choices and stands for the right things. Thank you again, Brooke Sachs, UCLA Alum -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I would like to pass on to all your students and alumni that this was truly a class act which lately hasn’t been seen in college sports for a while. Your program truly shows what a top-notch, classy and outstanding program you have. Sports is an important part to many people’s life, but this shows it is more than sports. I write this with the intent it gets passed on to your readers. William Jones, California --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you so much for the actions of your student body, your players, and your athletic department. The compassion that you displayed to UCLA was very much appreciated. What was shown on TV was very moving and really showed the class of Husker Nation. Thanks for all that you did and for being such gracious hosts. Here’s hoping that Husker football goes undefeated the rest of the way. I am still very touched by the actions of the NU Athletic Department. Ernest Hui, UCLA Class of 1998, Mountain View, California SDSU - 9/21/13 Good morning Husker Nation! I just wanted to thank you for a great experience and renewing my faith as a Husker fan. It was arguably one of the very worst weeks in Husker Football recent history with all that happened. Things could have taken a lot of different paths in how fans reacted. The result was straight class from pregame to postgame. Not sure why I even thought anything else would come from the best fans in College Football. When Pellini walked off the field at the end was the best part. The Husker fans stayed long after the game was over to salute their team and their coach as they left the field. Great stuff. As a lifelong Husker fan it was really fantastic to experience what the gameday experience is like for fans of the other team. I live in Brookings and have also been a lifelong Jackrabbit fan. Who knew that these worlds would ever collide. I was thanked by dozens of people after the game for making the trip and complimented on the skill and sportsmanship of the Jacks. Since returning home I have heard from numerous friends who know I'm a Husker fan about how great their experience was as well. There are plenty of Husker haters out there, my suspicion is that almost all of them have never experienced a game in Memorial Stadium. It was, is, and always will be a special place because of the fans that enter the gates. Good on ya Husker Nation! "Not the victory but the action; Not the goal but the game; In the deed the glory" Hartley Burr Alexander Here's to the Huskers playing well the rest of the way! Cheers! SUPERBUNNY http://www.huskerboa...__fromsearch__1 Michigan - 11/09/13 "I think Husker fans are about the best in the land. Good luck the rest of the way." Michigan State - 11/16/13 "The last time we went there, I don't think our players understood the environment... They certainly invite you into the lion's den. Come on in, plenty of room." - Head Coach Mark Dantonio -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "This is going to be my first trip to Neb. I have heard they're extremely kind, and that throws you off a little bit." - Calhoun -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I'm ... unsettled by how pleasant these Husker fans appear to be." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I went 2 years ago, and it did seem like a trap how nice people were. And then someone made the point that there is no other reason to go to Lincoln, so they have to be nice. It was a good time, good bar scene, tailgating was pretty weak but a lot of solid pregame bar options" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Yep. I was creeped out for a couple of hours. No sh#t talk, everyone was insanely polite. I asked a couple of folks about it, and the best summation I got was "a lot of us are real farmers, so we spend all but 7 weekends a year working, and we treasure coming in for Husker football and truly love to meet other fans that visit." Very cool." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spent Friday night on the town. Not once did we have an issue with the Husker fans. We had drinks bought for us left and right. Had half the people thank us for coming and the rest told us good luck tomorrow. The bands in the bars were great and welcomed us with our fight song. We mentioned over and over the when will they turn on us. Never happened. Even after the game we got high fives and congrats. Nicest in the B1G. Went to Mistys, nice steakhouse. The bar we liked best was called the Single Barrel. Both A+ Side note: The women are top notch!!! Highly impressed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our group is all in our early 30s. Amazing fans. Sane experience as everyone else. Overly nice. Drinks, high fives, go greens, good lucks, legs talk football, f#*k Ohio state, etc. The stadium is crazy beautiful too. Great city and hot women. I can see any people love coming here. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In an informal survey of visiting fans at Spartan Stadium last year — for a column I never completed — I learned Nebraska’s fans to be the nicest in the Big Ten, unanimously. Ohio State’s, just as consistently, were considered to be the worst. The Buckeyes, by the way, are 187-35-1 at home in the last 33 years, a few wins behind the Huskers, so relative cruelty has brought their fans nothing. The year 1980 is significant because it’s when a way of life became an identity for Nebraska fans, beginning with an open letter from Florida State coach Bobby Bowden, published in the Lincoln and Omaha newspapers, shortly after the Seminoles were cheered as they left the field, following an 18-14 Florida State win. Dated, Oct. 8, 1980, it read, in part: “I have never seen people with more class than I saw at Nebraska last week. … I actually had the feeling that when we upset the Nebraska team, that instead of hate and spite, the Nebraska fans thanked us for coming to Lincoln and putting on a good show. This is nearly unheard of in today’s society.” Or today’s. Except at Nebraska. - Lansing State Journal: 'Husker fans' unique kindness - it turns out - is winning approach' ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- McNeese State - 9/6/14 Best fans we have ever played against. We Never have heard a negative comment the three days we have been here. Greeted with a good luck or have a safe trip home, where is mcneese, y'll should have won and etc. Total class fans from young kids, teenagers to people older than ME! Awesome fans. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- there was no spitting, no cursing, nothing but respect and real knowledge of the game. Best fandom i have ever experienced. From the Dallas airport, to the hotel desk, to the cops; everyone welcomed us and wished us luck. Fresno State - 9/13/14 From a Fresno newspaper - http://www.fresnobee.com/2014/09/12/4120493_nebraska-loyalty-is-coming-out.html?rh=1 Fresno State fan Bridgette Williams, 48, said she got a "wow factor" surprise when she walked into Dog House Grill on Friday. It costs a lot of money to travel -- especially in this economy, Williams said, "so to be able to sacrifice to support their team like this is awesome. I'm impressed -- even though we hope that we beat them down." A.T. Greer, who works for Nebraska's alumni relations, said of the number of Huskers fans: "We get underestimated a lot." Franco added, "Nebraska fans are the classiest fans in college football." Even in defeat, they applaud the winning team and do things like support the Team Jack Foundation to fund research for pediatric brain cancer, he said. "It's not all about football for Nebraska fans. It's about life." Miami - 9/20/14 "I loved the experience of attending a game at Nebraska. At many stadiums, wearing Miami gear ensures that I'll be yelled at or mocked throughout gameday. This weekend, wearing orange or green was essentially an invite to every tailgate party in Lincoln. I was repeatedly asked if I was enjoying my time in Nebraska. Countless fans wished us good luck and thanked us for making the trip. Cities like Lincoln are what college football is all about. The atmosphere inside the stadium was terrific all night. While the Canes came up short, I'm very glad I had the opportunity to make the trip." http://www.stateoftheu.com/2014/9/22/6827317/miami-nebraska-trip-recap-positives-and-negatives Purdue - 11/1/2014 "Kudos to the Nebraska fan base. We took a group of Boilers for the weekend to Lincoln. We had to alter our plans and even skip a prepaid Boiler event due to the overwhelming hospitality of Husker fans pointing out places of interest, bars, and inviting us to their tailgates. Lots of great food, beverages, games, etc. We made some great new friends and would compete for one of the best road trip games attended in 20 years. I just hope other fans attending our games can say the same." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Ditto. Some of the nicest folks I've ever met on a road trip to ANY school. Can't count how many people came up and said "good luck" or shook our hands. Took us in to their tailgate and treated us like kings. They may have just been surprised that we came all that way for a game. Great atmosphere for the game, too. Probably had the best seats I've ever had (row ten on the 27 yard line). i would like to know what "Ruzo" (or was it Runzo?) is made of, though." BYU - 9/5/2015 "The 200 dollars I paid for my ticket was well worth it and would have been even if we had lost. Nebraska has a fan in me anytime they play anyone other than us. THE NICEST opposing fans. Had similar experiences as Gurt. Nebraska fans saying "thanks for coming" and "good game" and just very genuine and complimentary. Awesome stadium. Awesome atmosphere. Fun trip and worth the 13 hour drive from Utah. What a finish!" ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Well he is right about one thing... The Nebraska fans are awesome. They treated us like we were at home too. I lost count the number of times their fans would welcome us and say things like, "we are glad that you are here." What a nice bunch of folks. It may me forget all about that other team that also wears red, whats-their-names." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I'm sporting a Nebraska flair because of how incredible Cornhusker fans were to my family all weekend. At dinner on Friday night, the Nebraska fans in the restaurant got the BYU fans to stand up and sing the fight song; UNL fans cheered them on and said they loved the song, etc. At the stadium, fans thanked my fam for coming to Lincoln, complimented Taysom Hill, BYU's jerseys, & just about everything else, and were just genuinely great hosts. My cousin said there was a Husker fan behind him who was particularly furious and vocal about the no-call when the UNL punter was injured. My cousin (a lawyer who loves arguing) turned around and told the Husker fan that he thought he'd seen a Nebraska player push the BYU player into the punter. The Nebraska fan said something along the lines of "You know, now that I think about it, that seems accurate. Probably the right call, thanks" and immediately stopped complaining about the play. My cousin was shocked. After the Hail Mary win, fans were congratulating my family on the win and thanking them for an incredible football game. Field security allowed BYU fans to take pictures on the field and the spot of the catch. Anyway, my family was completely blown away by the entire Nebraska experience; I wish I could've made it to the game. Thanks for making them (& every BYU fan there by all accounts) feel welcome. EDIT: I couldn't make it to Nebraska due to work/school demands, if that wasn't clear; just anecdotal accounts from my family members that did go." Michigan State - 11/07/2015 i sat with some friends from Omaha whose season tickets had been passed down since 1940. Great seats around the 35 yard line, so I was surrounded by "green-seater" types. However, I was blown away by how willing everybody in the section was to stand up (on almost every defensive down) without bitching. Moreover, the noise was deafening, even louder than SS at its peak. Very impressive atmosphere. I can only imagine how difficult it was for Cook and Co. to run the offense. The fans were congratulating me before the game on our wonderful season, and mentioned that they hoped our team could show them a thing or two about winning. The celebration/party on the field and in the stands was also cool. You can tell that everyone has a deep connection to the school, which spans generations. There were no fair-weather followers, from what I could tell. All genuine and knowledgeable. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hands down the nicest fan base I've ever encountered in any sports setting. I had heard that the fans were cool, but it was amazing just how outgoing and friendly everybody was. Friday night and Saturday people were just fantastic. So many friendly, knowledgeable fans. Shared beers and food with many Husker tailgaters. Even as we were walking out of the game, people were shaking our hands, thanking us for coming, and saying nice things. We will definitely be back again. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The crowd looked awesome on TV, major props to Nebraska fans for bringing it so strong with the season their team is having. A great addition to the Big-10 and I can definitely say after having them for a few years I would say they're the best fans in the conference considering the support they show and the fact that they really haven't had a legitimately great team in over a decade even if they've had good teams. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hands down the best fans I've ever encountered on the road. Been to a lot of road games in my life and Lincoln is right there at the top. Great atmosphere in the stadium. Lots of choices to pregame and postgame. Partied in Haymarket and O Street and a couple places in between. Super knowledgeable fanbase and most I talked to mentioned how much they respected our program and coach MD. I think it caught some Huskers off guard at how well MSU represented. Lincoln and Nebraska cater to and embrace college football and do it right. I would love to move to the west and play Iowa, Nebraska, Minny, Wiscy on a yearly basis. Reddit Thread About the Most Hospitable Fanbases "Nebraska fans were the nicest fans to take over Ryan Field bar none" "Nebraska fans were awful when they came to Madison for their first Big Ten ga...ahhh, I can't keep this up. They were great and I had more than one group of Nebraska fans personally invite me to their tailgate when UW went to Lincoln the next season. Can't wait to eventually make the trip." "Even at Colorado, where they were most hated. agree" "Yep. Great in West Lala" "Seconding Nebraska, they were nice as hell when they beat Clemson in a bowl game, and the close game with MSU 2 years ago was one of the most fun I've ever been to. Even your creepy old drunk guys are still nice." "They were nice in Ann Arbor as well. Guess they were excited to get outta the Big XII" "They were fantastic when they came to Minnesota too" "Pasadena checking in" "Great fans in Columbus as well! I love me some Nebraska fans!" "Nebraska, hands down. We split a keg of home brew with a Father-Son pair of Huskers in the parking lot before the 2010 Big XII championship game. It was cold as hell, but they were fun to talk to." "As far as strict hospitality goes, I don't think anybody can beat Nebraska. Nice, welcoming folks. Everybody was welcoming. I must have heard some variation of "We're so happy you cane on up here. Hope you have a good time even though we're going to beat your poor, lowly, peasant-like Cowpokes (but your team tried awfully hard, and we respect them for that)!" Perhaps a bit haughty, but extremely welcoming nonetheless. Probably the nicest way I've ever been told that my school sucks before!" http://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/2fd7tk/what_opposing_fan_bases_have_you_encountered_that/ Another Reddit Thread about the "Myth" of Nebraska fans "I've never received the welcome from fans like I did this past weekend. We go to 2 or 3 road games a year, past visits include Notre Dame, Northwestern, Oregon, Maryland, Minnesota, Michigan, Arizona State, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Indiana. I've never experienced a fan base like Nebraska. Stayed in Omaha Friday night, visited Brickway Brewery, Upstream and had dinner at Jackson Street Tavern. All excellent. Every one welcoming. "Thanks for visiting Nebraska", "Good luck tomorrow", lots of respect for Dantonio. Friday night stopped at a Home Depot to grab some hand warmers and had a guy there invite us to his tailgate the next morning. Saturday we got to Lincoln around 8:30, parked had some beers and just walked around. We planned on maybe grabbing some breakfast some where, but that wasn't needed. We were stopped by Nebraska fans all over, offering food and beer and once again people with nothing but warm wishes. "Thanks for coming", "Good luck today", "Have you had a Runza?" "Make sure you visit (insert place here)!" . Game didn't go the way I wanted, but it was fun and cold, Memorial Stadium is awesome. Walking out more of the same, more people saying thanks for visiting, but people also APOLOGIZING FOR BEATING US! Ummm what? Stopped at a couple bars in Lincoln, Nebraska fans are truly special. Had 3 different people buy us rounds of drinks at the The Happy Raven and Boiler Brewing. I did get a Runza last night as well, after we tried at Memorial stadium and they were out at the concession stand we went too, I was impressed. Very good and different. Looking forward to Nebraska being very competitive in the B1G soon." Reddit Thread About What Fanbase Travels the Best Other Sports Thanks for writing this column. We watched the regionals on television and commented about the lack of atmosphere in the other three cities hosting a regional. On TV, Nebraska’s sellout crowd was a big part of the action on the court, so we can see why any player in the country would want that kind of experience, especially when it counts most. College volleyball in Lincoln is like college baseball in Omaha. Players from all over the country look forward to coming to the College World Series because the experience is first class and people pay to see them play. That’s why the College World Series has never left the state. Nebraska is a huge volleyball state, and Lincoln deserves to be a national leader in the sport’s development. Nebraska’s earned it the old-fashioned way – through hard work. Steve Henderson, Orlando, Florida 13 Quote Link to comment
Ric Flair
Great thread. I think it's incredibly cool how well opposing fans are treated in Lincoln. And it's neat to see what a reputation Nebraska fans have for being classy, well-behaved and engaging in good sportmanship. Quote Link to comment
