The different story Carl tells about his interaction with the AD is also interesting.

Carl says he offered to take a drug test and denied drug use. The AD said Carl declined the drug test and offered to resign immediately.

Carl says the AD told him a drug test didn't matter and that if he resigned like they wanted, the AD would "make it clear that the circumstances were outside of Pelini's control and that he would provide Pelini with a good recommendation for employment elsewhere." (per the SI article).

The AD obviously did the exact opposite of that.

I have a hard time believing Carl was the victim of such a comprehensive series of lies by different people. I mean, what's all of their motivations there? It seems clear that they wanted Carl out of their program regardless, in a not-so-friendly-separation kind of way. And that doesn't just come from nowhere, this early in a coach's tenure.

Weird as it all is, kinda cool in a way. That's our former defensive coordinator up there on the front page news again! And this is pretty big news.
