Im saying that i dont remember seeing this much scrutiny on any one person ever.

Not one person has been this much of a jackass without the results and lasted as long as he did. He treated people like sh#t the day he got here and the media used kid gloves for most of his tenure here. Now they are getting back at him (right or wrong) for all of the crap that he pulled while he was here. Guys like him usually flame out and are never heard of again.

Does anyone ever remember anything positive about bo in any of the last 4 years. Its always been about his rants, him quitting to coach elsewhere, or some other negative item. sh#t if i was coaching here i would be dam sick of this as well. Its part of a HC job but i dont think to the degree its been made with him. Just do a search on how many negative impact items are in the news on bo or nebraska in the past 4 years.

He hasn't won enough of the games people want to see him win and it's created angst in the fan base, which is only natural. Yeah, it's been rough on him, the staff and the players, but IMHO we're nowhere near as vitriol as other fan bases may be in this situation. And this is why he gets paid the big bucks - with that money comes a lot of responsibility, and Pelini has spent the last six years trying to skirt some of that responsibility, whether it was interactions with the media or some of his decision-making as a coach.

I only draw a line when it starts affecting the players. Pelini made himself a full-fledged victim yesterday putting everything on "you guys" aka the media. That mentality has trickled down into the player base with guys like Gregory threatening to leave and Kenny Bell giving a passive-aggressive threat about maybe not coming back next year.

But I also think an argument can be made that Pelini's players play on the field like Pelini acts on the sidelines. Case in point - Pelini's hat incident. Whether he hit the ref with the strap of the hat or not (and to me, it looks like he did), he lost focus/discipline and made a mistake that cost the team. That whole incident was a microcosm of Nebraska football.

So, though I think Pelini gets a bad rap, he does himself absolutely no favors.

I want this settled as soon as possible also, but if yesterdays actions by PeLLLLini changed the plan from one more year to no more, then it could take a few extra hours make an announcement. My gut is that they will want to name the new HC simultaneous with his ouster rather than simply stating they are conducting a search. After all that has transpired, I have to believe SE already has a very short list of some prospects ready to step in. Maybe they're just tying up some contract issues.

Very well said.

This is ridiculous, I can't believe that these guys wouldn't be mindful of what they're saying around a microphone after what happened to Pelini! This is complete horse s*&t and I've seen more organized monkey s*&t fights in a zoo! I obviously agree that Bo is probably gone, do I agree with that decision at this point? I have no idea, I'm so confused I don't know what to think. I will say this, If Pelini IS going to be fired they need to do this right now, this weekend, and not screw around. If they wait until after the bowl game, we're screwed. We'll get a 7th choice to take the reigns and we'll be no better off than we are right now. Open the god damn checkbook, quit screwing around, and get the guy you want in that position and give him plenty of money to get the right coaches in place. This whole damn experiment is costing us more money than it's saving us and you get what you pay for sometimes. I'm so pissed off at this program right now for all the mickey mouse, back door, under handed, disorganized crap that I'm seeing. They aren't acting like a big time program with this unorganized bull$hit going on. Eichorst better have already done his homework or the guy can go fly a kite. That'll tell me that he has no vision and isn't prepared for anything.

This. Talk about not doing sh%t the Nebraska way. Fire him fine, but this secret laud the info over him is crap and the mark of some spineless trash. Fire HP and SE while we are at it. Unprofessional as hell.

Needs to be done immediately or a statement saying he is staying.

Absolutely. Make a decision. Five minute press conference.

"Bo Pelini will the head coach at the University of Nebraska for the 2014 season"

or

"Bo Pelini will no longer be the head coach at the University of Nebraska"

If there is another coach selected, state that, but no name has to be given.

This. End the rumors. Let the fans, players, staff get on with it.

As someone said yesterday, the whole affair has become toxic. The sooner it is done (firing or keeping) the sooner "healing" can begin.

I am complaning here i know but BigRedIowan, how much are you looking forward to monday.

What about Monday? If you're talking about Hawk fans I already predicted we would lose this game, but by 5, so I took the wind out of their sails so they can't say much. A few have started with me already, but if you play a team long enough and enough times it's natural for them to win. I'm not looking forward to this mess that may be a new coaching search. I don't know if we'll be better off with someone else or not. I'm not scared either of getting a new coach like some try to claim on this board when someone says they don't know if it'll be any better. You'll have to guarantee that it WILL be better or why pull the trigger on a new coach and fire Bo? I don't agree with what he did yesterday at all, it was stupid, and it's not a way for a CEO of a team to act, but I do think he should be able to speak his mind a little better on SOME things. I'm getting tired of the damn media asking him about his job status and making it into a big deal so if I'm getting tired of it, he's gotta be getting tired of it as well. The bad is outweighing the good at this point with him because the media is driving it, but he has brought it upon himself. We screw this coaching search up and we become Minnesota, simple as that..................

Are you referring to the Minnesota team that beat Nebraska?

Agreed, and Bo knew what he was getting into when he accepted the Nebraska spot. He knew the expectations here. You can't perform like they did yesterday and then attack the fans and media like he did. Sends a bad message. I feel bad for him but at the same time he'll leave with millions and still land on his feet at the end of the day, so hard to feel too bad for the guy.

Lame... Hows that crow tasting? Sharpe has the face for radio and taylor did what besides inflated stats? Its this crap that is the problem that Bo speaks of with negativity surrounding the program. I see why BC shut the press out, pure speculation journalism, if it can even defined as journalism. No one outside the AD and chancellor offices knows whats going to happen until it is done.

Though there were plenty members of the media that embellished the story line, the media also channeled a lot of frustrations from the fan base. If anybody spent five minutes on this board, or listening to Nebraska radio stations, you'd hear tons of fans calling for Pelini's firing, saying why he needs to be fired, etc. My feeling is that most fans didn't want to see Bo fired, but there are certainly a number of people calling for his job. And the athletic department made a mistake, in hindsight, not saying anything. Yesterday's loss was about as bad of a situation as one could have hoped for given the situation, and they come out supporting him. If that was their plan all along, then why not cut this out earlier?

Think about it, if Pelini were undefeated, ahd a national title and a conference title under his belt, do we think the AD would have come out with a message sooner than today? I do.

Absolutely none of this would be an issue if Pelini would have gone undefeated this year, let alone if he had a conference title under his belt (if he had a national title, I don't think he'd be here anymore, I think he'd be at one of the numerous places he's already applied).

I agree that before yesterday's game and the ensuing post-game debacle, most fans did not want to see Pelini go. Now I'm not so sure what the real read on that is. It's hard to gauge an accurate perception from message boards, local article comments, radio calls, etc., but I would definitely say that the tide seems to have changed. You're spot on about the mistake in not coming out sooner, Enhance. Had Eichorst supported Pelini prior to the game, there's no way Bo comes out in full-on crazy mode like that - and today the storylines would be different.
