Hooper Selected in WNBA Draft

Recommended Posts

Jordan Hooper had heard a number of WNBA teams might draft her Monday night. Atlanta, Chicago, Minnesota and San Antonio were among them.

Tulsa was not. So, naturally, the Shock picked the Big Ten Player of the Year and three-time All-American with the 13th overall pick and the first pick of the second round.

“I was very excited and very much in shock,” Hooper said. “Isn’t that fitting?”

Perhaps this is, too: Tulsa is closer to Lincoln – and most of Nebraska – than any other WNBA franchise. If Husker fans want to make the drive in a day to watch Hooper, they can. NU coach Connie Yori even texted Hooper as much after she was picked: “Now we can come watch.”

“It’s great that I’m going to a Midwestern team so that Nebraska fans can follow me,” Hooper said. “It’s kinda cool, to keep the Midwest kid in the Midwest.”
