USA Today: Sleeper All-Americans

Recommended Posts

1. Terran Petteway, Nebraska: Simply put, this junior can score. But his stat line (18.1 ppg, 4.8 rpg) hardly shows his impact for the on-the-rise Cornhuskers, who made the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1998 last season with Petteway as their catalyst. It takes winning close games to win the Big Ten. And to win close games, you need an alpha dog guy to turn to in pivotal stretches. Petteway might be the best go-to option in the Big Ten. Last year he scored more than 20 points eight times and more than 30 twice. He will be relied upon to be the main manufacturer again for a Nebraska squad trying to carry over the momentum from its fourth-place Big Ten finish spurred by winning 10 of the last 13 league games.

Love it! Although I'm kind of surprised they didn't mention his work ethic at all. Any coach or teammate you talk to would say that he is the hardest working player on the team.

I'm expecting not only an improvement from Petteway, but the other starters as well.

Yeah I am really excited to see what they'll be able to do this year. It just sucks that Smith got hurt, I think that will be a huge blow. Petteway and Pitchford should be a force in there for sure. Shields I think will be more consistent as well, and be able to get more looks with attention having to be spread out a bit more.

Need to get some production from the PG position. Either double digit scoring or be like Doug Gottlieb was at OSU years ago. (Stat line from one of his games 4 pts 17 assists)

Wow! I would love to see one of our PG's get that many assists in a game.
