How close was a coaching change?

Recommended Posts

Thought for sure he was gone after Iowa. They didn't fire him. Credit to Bo, he did about as good of a job as possible through the bowl season and into the offseason improving his image. Now, baring a complete disaster, I think it's pretty clear with his retention where the bar has been set. I honestly think he could survive 8-5 or a 7-6 type of season now. If the product on the field last season, coupled with the Pelini on the sideline and in the media was not enough...then 7-6 on it's own probably wouldn't' be enough either.

Face it, Bo is here for the long haul now. That was made clear in December.

I wonder how many times he would have to publicly apologize for his behavior if he had a 7-6 season.

At least six times and probably twice more after a comeback victory against a 7-5 team boasting "he didn't forget how to coach defense"

An athletic director that didn't fire a coach who wins 70% of his games. Weird.

No weirder than nearly half of the fanbase of a team known for overachieving wanting a coach to be fired for doing the bare minimum to not be fired and telling the fanbase to f#*k off for their troubles.

We ended the season with a quality win. Quality over quantity for me. We do not have a lot of quality wins. Those are the ones that are important. I do not care about beating McNeese State or South Dakota State or Fresno State. Line up and beat Ohio State, Michigan State and a major bowl opponent. Those are what I want to see. I truly believe he can do it. But he still has to learn what it takes to win the big game consistently.

Pelini's comment bothered some.......not so much others. And there a lots of things I'm certain of....one of which being you do not speak for nor have knowledge of "nearly half" of the fan base. But your input is appreciated. As always.
