Abdullah the Butcher
Now, the differences between the ordinals in each category isn't necessarily the same. Nebraska has the hardest schedule of the four by a clear margin. Iowa does not have the best quarterback situation by as wide of a margin. Wisconsin scores the lowest, but whipped both Iowa and Northwestern last year. Its "past performance" metric towers over the Hawkeyes and Wildcats, and has a lead on Nebraska. The numbers say Wisconsin. The roster makeup says "not so fast." That could be me playing a hunch wrong. I could feel very dumb about not picking the Badgers to win if they beat LSU opening night. Neverthless, here are my picks. >> I'll pick Iowa to win the division. It has enough strength overall and the schedule fits into their hands. I'm not always one to promote schedule, schedule, schedule, but the Hawkeyes' strength along the lines and experience at skill spots convinces me. >> For Nebraska to be No. 2, I have to pick them to either win at Michigan State -- I won't -- or win at Wisconsin. Nebraska's category advantages over the Badgers are in overall talent, defensive playmakers, coaching track record and returning starters. The returning starters edge is minimal -- most of that is accounted for in defensive playmakers -- but the rest are fair, and enough, in this mythical contest, to pick Wisconsin to lose its eighth game in 11 years at home. http://m.omaha.com/huskers/blogs/picking-the-winner-of-the-big-ten-west/article_09e035a4-11c7-11e4-bae2-0017a43b2370.html?mode=jqm Quote Link to comment
NebraskaHarry
Neither Iowa or Wisconsin has to play Ohio St., Michigan St., Michigan, or Penn St. Talk about favorable schedules for both teams. I can see why pundits are picking between the two. Quote Link to comment

tschu
I can't really disagree although I hope he's wrong In case you guys can't tell, I'm trying to temper my expectations for this season so that I don't get let down yet again Quote Link to comment
Comish
He is wrong. Nebraska wins the division. I agree. Iowa will not win when the expectations are upon them. Quote Link to comment
LukeinNE
I'm picking Wisconsin at this point. Iowa has a laughably favorable schedule, but I think they're going to be the third, if not 4th best team in the West this year. I'll go: 1. Wisconsin 10-2 (7-1) 2. Nebraska 9-3 (5-3) 3. Iowa 8-4 (5-3) 1 Quote Link to comment
OH HSKR FAN
I think Wisconsin struggles this year as I think this new coach will start to put his imprint on the play calling. Remember they lost inexplicably to penny state and they dropped their bowl game. Quote Link to comment

lo country
Its friggin Iowa. They will never get the "recognition" the media wants them to have. If NU starts thinking that the road to the West goes through Iowa, we have not fallen. We are at the point we can't get up. Again, if we fear the team that has done everything to copy us, we are doomed. We are friggin NU. Time to get mean and nasty on both sides of the ball. Make it a street fight for 4 quarters and beat teams so bad this year, they are already dreading having to face us again next year. Unleash the hounds this year. Let Cotton and Lewis lay some wood. ON O. Let RG go for the single season sack record. Give them a healthy dose of AA and Cross, let Jano head butt some fools. Make people scared to line up against us. That's the NU way. Go for broke. 4 Quote Link to comment
OH HSKR FAN
I like the bravado lo country. The big thing to me are the turnovers. Untimely too. Whether it be on our side of the field (msu, iowa) or right on the goal line (psu) they have been killer! Quote Link to comment

deedsker
Iowa? Iowa? I don't want to be the MSU guy from last year, but Iowa? Iowa? Wisconsin has recent history of getting the job done and I am not going against that. Then Nebraska has the highest ceiling, but has to get out of their own way. Northwestern has Mark and that is good enough for me. Then there is Iowa. This is just odd to me. I get that they have just about the easiest schedule in the entire world, but come on. Iowa? skersfan
If I remember correctly, Iowa has scoreboard on us at our house. His thoughts are quite possible. No one truly has a clue what this years Huskers are going to be. Well maybe 9=4. Quote Link to comment

husker_rob
Well, this certainly makes me fired up for the season! haha Sam, let's focus on articles about HOW we win the division -- not why we won't. hahaha Still my favorite writer though. Quote Link to comment
