Biggest play: Lavonte David's stop of Silas Redd on 4th and 1 from the Penn State 37 with 1:49 left. The Nittany Lions trailed 17-14 and had all the momentum after scoring two touchdowns to get back in it, and they handed the ball to their best player on the game's biggest play. But Nebraska's star defender was better and made a great, everything-he-had tackle. When he laid the wood to a poor unsuspecting DB on a long TD run, it told me right there we had something special. Another fun moment about that game. In typical fashion, my Hawkeye friends were fairly optimistic about a win that day. But, they hadn't wanted much Husker football. Right before kickoff, I leaned over and asked, have you ever seen a linebacker return kicks? They had a dumbfounded look on their faces. I simply said.....you are about to. cg_8 Posted July 23, 2014 Share Posted July 23, 2014 We never saw it, but hearing how Armstrong went up to Westerkamp after his muffed punt against Michigan and said: “You saved our butt last week (after the Hail Mary), I got you this week. Our offense is gonna march down there, we're gonna win it.” Then they went and scored the game winning TD. I don't know if Armstrong is going to be a great QB, but that showed me he was a great leader. And despite the many "problems" a lot of us fans can point out. His 7-1 record as a starter is not by accident. In addition, his audible on the 4th down to throw to Bell and keep the drive alive. 3 Quote Link to comment

I don't remember that happening at Mizzou, but I do remember that happening against Oklahoma St. To my understanding, this can happen if one of the captains says the wrong thing. Like, if we win the toss and instead of saying we "defer" to the second half, we say something like we'll kick off or something to that nature, then we've used our option to choose right there for the second half. It's dumb, it's confusing. Honestly, whoever gets the ball to start the game should be required to kick off to start the second half. But, I guess a little word mix up can screw you.
