lo country
Just saw where Rex was injured in the Bengals game. Took a shot to the knee on his first carry. Staff is speculating a possible MCL injury and he might be out 6-8 weeks. Thoughts on them keeping him? IIRC, he got injured and missed a lot last year. I wonder if it would be better to cut him and allow him to go to a team that could actually use him. I think he is 4th on the Bengals current roster. Can you cut an injured player to get to the 53 man roster or does he go on IR and not count against the roster? Sucks for him though. Hoping he has a speedy recovery. http://www.bengals.com/news/article-1/Quick-hits-T-New-wins-Guenther-warns-backups-Rex-injury-unclear-but-hopeful/5398cf9b-88de-4dce-9e7c-0bf937f18bac Quote Link to comment
Mavric
Probably going to get cut in that case. I'm not sure if he was injured last year or just inactive a lot. Quote Link to comment
ColoradoHusk
I can see the Bengals putting him on the PUP list for 6 weeks and then seeing how healthy he is after that. Then he could be put on IR if he's not healthy. I think he would get paid his full salary if he was on IR for the year, which wouldn't be a terrible deal. Quote Link to comment

southernoregonhusker
Apparently he was having a great camp and had a really good chance of being #3. Too bad about the injury. Quote Link to comment
BIGREDIOWAN
That really sucks, was hoping to see him hit the field a little more this season. Heal up Rex Quote Link to comment
ShawnWatson
Feel bad for him. Good news is after football he will be able to get about any job he wants in Omaha/Lincoln if he wants it. Quote Link to comment

When Rex graduated he said he planned on going back to the Dallas area to teach or go into coaching. Yeah plans can change and he could get hired by any company in Nebraska, but those were his plans after football. 2 Quote Link to comment

Thanks didn't know that, Rex would be a great coach, the guy is smart and seems mature far beyond his age. Quote Link to comment
OH HSKR FAN
Would he have any desire to be on Nebraska's staff? Would Nebraska have any interest in Rex Burkhead? Quote Link to comment
ColoradoHusk
Would he have any desire to be on Nebraska's staff? Would Nebraska have any interest in Rex Burkhead? I am not saying anything bad about, Rex and I am sure he will be great at whatever he ends up doing. I just get tired of the posts that are always "Player X was great at NU, it would be great if he was able to come back as coach." 1 Quote Link to comment
