Rex injures knee.. Again

Recommended Posts

Just saw where Rex was injured in the Bengals game. Took a shot to the knee on his first carry. Staff is speculating a possible MCL injury and he might be out 6-8 weeks.

Thoughts on them keeping him? IIRC, he got injured and missed a lot last year. I wonder if it would be better to cut him and allow him to go to a team that could actually use him. I think he is 4th on the Bengals current roster. Can you cut an injured player to get to the 53 man roster or does he go on IR and not count against the roster?

Sucks for him though. Hoping he has a speedy recovery.

Feel bad for him. Good news is after football he will be able to get about any job he wants in Omaha/Lincoln if he wants it.

When Rex graduated he said he planned on going back to the Dallas area to teach or go into coaching. Yeah plans can change and he could get hired by any company in Nebraska, but those were his plans after football.

Thanks didn't know that, Rex would be a great coach, the guy is smart and seems mature far beyond his age.

Would he have any desire to be on Nebraska's staff? Would Nebraska have any interest in Rex Burkhead?

I am not saying anything bad about, Rex and I am sure he will be great at whatever he ends up doing. I just get tired of the posts that are always "Player X was great at NU, it would be great if he was able to come back as coach."
