teachercd
I gotta think that with a statue at QB for MSU...RG4 will line up in many different spots on Saturday...I bet he is in an nontraditional spot close to 1/3 of the time. Quote Link to comment

HUSKER FREAK
I think it depends on how bad they a killing us with the slants and short passes. I really like in that situation dropping Randy back in the backer spot. 1 Quote Link to comment

I really like in that situation dropping Randy back in the backer spot. In that situation it's only a matter of time before he picks off another pass. Now he may not run it back for a TD, but regardless it's nice to have the ability to do that. He's dangerous from either the line or from the LB spot. I think the sloppy conditions may help our LB's some if it's as bad as it sounds like it's going to be. Banderas isn't a world beater to the sideline, but if they run straight at us I think he'll do better....................I hope............ Quote Link to comment

Well just with his size and athleticism in the middle will make it really hard for a QB to see around him for one and if they hit on a pop pass If Gregory makes contact all I can say is goodnight. I would not want to be that dude. Quote Link to comment

Nevermind the Illinois receiver that's being covered with dirt right now at Memorial from Randy's block. A sloppy game like this is old school football and guys just might embrace that and get fired up for it. Quote Link to comment
Count 'Bility
I just love how we line him up as an inside backer in a 3-4 type of formation, let the line engage and he can just pick his spot on a delay blitz. It's really a win win for us doing this. If they dont pick him up with the back, he's gettin there and either gets a sack or causes a throw away. If they do pick him up with the back-even if it's a successful block (and that's a big IF)-it's good for our backers to not have to worry about picking that back up out of the backfield. They can focus on downfield coverage. Randy is extremely versatile, and his athletic ability forces the oline and qb and backs to have to point out where he is and contemplate what he might do on EVERY SINGLE PLAY. That's a huge advantage for us. Quote Link to comment

Landlord
Maybe well see the standup free roam line that we saw against MSU in 2011 that gave them such fits. Quote Link to comment
BaytownHusker
I may be the only man out on this. I like him playing any where on the D-Line much more then I do the ILB position. I could be wrong but I don't recall and sacks coming from the ILB spot. He is always late coming in and the pass is thrown. Now I don't mind him dropping back from the end position. I could be wrong but I don't recall and sacks coming from the ILB spot. He is always late coming in and the pass is thrown. Now I don't mind him dropping back from the end position. While he may not actually get sacks and does get there a count late, he is actually much more effective coming from the inside like that. It's unblockable. The pressure forces a throw away. If he lines up on end, it is actually really simple to plan away from him. Waggle away, chip with a back. Formation the tight end over him for a chip or double team. this is why Clown-regardless of his forth effort-was rather ineffective last year from a statistical standpoint. South Carolina remained basic and completely uncreative in how they used him. We move Gregory all over the place. Stand up spinner. Delays out if an ILB position. 3 point speed rush off the line. It makes so much more for the offensive line and the qb to have to figure out and identify. I guarantee you when Michigan St comes to the line on offense the #1 priority of Cook and Oline is to identify where #4 is and adjust protection accordlingly. Quote Link to comment
