The '96 spring game still haunts me.

 

50,000 people in the stands, dead quiet, many openly weeping in the stands, while a game was going on below, with 150 players who looked like they'd all been hit by a truck.

 

The man commanded that kind of respect. I was eating dinner at the old downtown Valentino's with my dad on a Friday night before a game, and he came in with his entourage. The entire room almost in unison turned their heads and gave their undivided attention upon his entrance... and he was suitably nonplussed, if not slightly embarrassed.

Yeah, i was there, really, really odd. Very sad. That piece was really something special
