Born N Bled Red
Does this win put us in the top 10? Its been killing me all week to see KSUX at 11, when the only difference in records is that they lost to Auburn (of the mightY SEC) and we lost to Mich St., oh and we've won one more game. In trying to answer my own question, I went the our ESPN team page. Looking at the schedule, I can't help but keep thinking what could have been. We're literally one Ameer wildcat fumble or one Alonzo more reception from being 8-0 and what top 5? Man, it's been hard to be this positive about the Huskers for a while, but this is fun! knapplc
No way we're in the top ten after today. 7-1 and leading what is still perceived to be an awful division in an awful conference. No joke - we should be glad to be in the top 15 the way everyone wrote off the Big Ten two weeks into the season. Quote Link to comment
QMany
I think we will be Top 10 going into Madison, but rankings don't concern me. Continue improving, continue winning. The rest will take care of itself. 6 Quote Link to comment

presidentjlh
I doubt we even move up in the ranks unless someone above us falls. 1 Quote Link to comment

Although, I do believe that it is ridiculous that some think that the ACC is a better conference than the Big Ten Quote Link to comment

Although, I do believe that it is ridiculous that some think that the ACC is a better conference than the Big Ten Just to point out an interesting little thing I've noticed... Last year, on any given Saturday during football season, I could catch at least three or four BTN games on BTN2GO or the BTN channel. This year started the same way, and people were saying our conference ducked and we'd never make it to the playoff... then something happened. Three or four BTN games each week have been shown on ABC/ESPN/2/U. Starting around week 5 or 6. Now, all of a sudden, the talking heads on ESPN are saying and writing articles about how MSU or tOSU and maybe Nebraska could make it to the playoff if one of those teams wins out. Hmmm... intersting coincidence. Quote Link to comment

Hmmm... intersting coincidence. I see your point I think you think I'm saying something negative about the Big Ten coverage. I am not. I think, like you've stated, we've gotten more coverage in recent weeks then past. However, while I honestly think the SEC is clearly the best conference, the Big Ten not far behind the others that are declared "tough" conferences, such as the Big 12, Pac 10, ACC. In fact, I believe the ACC is the worst conference. Thus, I should say I'm not opposed by how much coverage we are receiving, but I am opposed by how much another conference is getting given they are not very good as well (i.e. The ACC) Quote Link to comment
Chimalli
Dicey as to whether Huskers are top ten material. Today, saw some great plays on both sides of the ball but that ugly turnover monster peeked its head. Shore up turnovers, have a consistent O Line, and handcuff Tim Beck at times then yes Nebraska is top ten. Quote Link to comment
huKSer
Does this victory put us in the top 10? - - - - What? Did the SEC kick out half of their teams? Quote Link to comment
URSS
No. We are not a Top 10 team. We need a dominating offensive line and a defensive line that can play most teams on the line of scrimmage for a full game. If we were a Top 10 team, we would have beaten Sparty and not get our asses kicked for three quarters. Quote Link to comment
tschu
We're not sniffing top 10 unless we win out. I can see us being in the top 10 if we win out after the Iowa game, given that a bunch of other teams will probably have 2 losses. But never before that. This conference blows, and the voters aren't stupid - they know this. We don't get brownie points for beating up on cripples like Illinois and Rutgers. We also looked like nothing close to a top 10 team against our only truly good opponent this year. So there's that. 1 Quote Link to comment
QMany
Next week: Stanford v. #6 Oregon #15 Arizona v. #25 UCLA #19 Utah v. #14 ASU #10 TCU v. #22 WVU #5 Auburn v. #3 Ole Miss Two weeks: #4 Alabama v. #25 LSU #6 Oregon v. #19 Utah #7 Notre Dame v. #14 ASU #11 KSU v. #10 TCU #12 Baylor v. #17 OU #13 Ohio St. v. #8 MSU That isn't even counting big upsets that happen often. There will be a lot of attrition by the time we head to Madison. Top 10 is certainly possible, and likely, within the next 2-3 weeks. 2 Quote Link to comment
