Bo can't stop being Bo

Nebraska won today and got to 7-1. Was it perfect? No. It wasn't
.

The Huskers had problems. But we knew that and we know that the team is trying to do what it can to get better. We knew it was going to be a week-to-week process. But we won. And it's positive.

Until Bo stepped to the microphone for the post game and had almost nothing good to say about the team. There were some good things he admitted after saying that the team was sloppy and well below standards in every area.

During his post game radio talk, Bo said he and the players were "glad to have the rest of the day off."

Obviously we all know that the Husker program is huge. And the complications of running such an organization in all of its facets can be draining for anybody.

That said, I just don't believe this coach is cut out for this job. He is out of his depth. And he knows it. He's stressed and you can see it. He walks around with the look of a man who is ready to explode. He doesn't fit in this environment. He doesn't enjoy it. And, in my estimation, he never will.

As someone who has had sideline access for all of the years of Bo's tenure, I can tell you that he lashes out at his players often, says some pretty incredible stuff to refs as well, and never looks comfortable. Today, as an example.... his response to Foltz's shank punt was too look around the sideline and scream "F&*King Offense!" No doubt, the offense put the specialists in a rough spot deep in their end, but it was not their fault that the specialists didn't execute. I want to see a coach managing a team in these moments. Not lashing out at people. Fix it so it doesn't happen again. If the players on the field can't fix it, change the groupings until they can.

I end up thinking after the game that these are the actions of a man who knows what's coming. Losses. He can't stop them from coming. He is pleading with fans to understand that now. These behaviors we have right now, he says, will lead to losses. I am not confident Bo can fix these issues.

And as an added thought to this, I really think the team can only reflect its leader in being a bit "mental" in terms of consistency. You have to guide the ship firmly and in a fashion that inspires confidence in the coach as a leader and in the system that they're running.

Think about what Aaron Rodgers said when the Packers were going bad... R-E-L-A-X... he said that because he had confidence in his coach. Confidence in his teammates and confidence in the system. There was work that needed to be done, but it was going to get done. He was being a leader and keeping a positive message.

I just don't see that in Bo's program.

That's one way of looking at.

IMHO, Bo has been better with the media and has limited coach-speak. If he would have been "completely satisfied" with this performance, you would have had a different angle to attack his coaching capabilities. It really is a no-win situation whatever he says.

Regarding that punt, I believe he was pissed because the offense pinned themselves deep in their own territory with a loss of 15 off a snap that hit Tommy in the hands. He was probably pissed they were even in the situation to punt, and field position completely changed regardless of the shank.

Some might say TO was not comfortable or out of it based on his extremely laid back personality.

Maybe, just maybe he is uncomfortable because of people like you who will never let him be himself, never let him have success, and never truly accept him for who he is. He is leading a team that is 7-1 and could possibly be undefeated, yet after a win you post how he does not fit in and never will. How he is expecting losses because of him calling out the team for being sloppy or never being satisfied.

As a coach I am not completely comfortable after a win or a loss. I tend to look at the issues that came up during the game and want to fix them or figure out why it went the way it did. I would rather have a guy that wants to push for perfection from his players and be honest than some sunshine pumping liar!

People in hyper competitive situations live on the edge emotionally speaking because they are spending all of their physical energy to get what they want and they have that burning desire. And it can manifest in negative ways. You see it when games get out of hand and guys get chippy, not because they are bad guys, but because it is so darned frustrating. There are about 50 guys on the sideline any given Saturday, plus coaches, who all have this hyper competitive edge. Someone has to manage. Someone has to steer the ship toward calmer waters. Bo is like gasoline on a bon fire.

When someone fails to do their job. Correct them on technique. If you can't get the message across to them, sub em out. Simple as that.

But keep the explosions to a minimum. Some are going to happen. Because people care and that manifests in not so positive was sometimes.... EMPHASIS on SOMETIMES

A pretty compelling argument can be made that Bo's tenure "went to sh#t, so to speak" once shithead Perlman publicly called him out after A&M 2010 like it was something he was doing every week, and this ridiculous notion was created that Bo had to "clean his act up". You may be right tmfr. You very well could. But we also see fiery coaches like Saban and Mike Gundy have success. I dont really see there being an exact science to anything like this. If Bo's not the right man for the job, i'm betting it's for far more logical reasons than this. Just my opinion

Is the OP from today? Or from 2010? I'm oober confused right now. Is this a new thread? Or bumped from page 246?

I hear you. Sometimes it's like dedhoarse dedhoarse dedhoarse dedhoarse dedhoarse

But that was the feeling I left the stadium with today and I knew that the kind crowd on HuskerBoard would let me vent at least. I was just bummed out mainly because I feel like we did a lot of good things, but that we had a long long long way to go. That being said, I just felt good that the process was on going to fix issues before we see teams like Wisky. Bo made me wonder because he was saying stuff as if nobody had noticed and he was informing us of these rough areas for the first time.

I appreciate your comments and agree about those other fire brand coaches. They do have success.

To me it's about finding a happy mediume and understanding there's a time to blow up and a time not to. Bo to me is obviously getting better in this regard.

Bo should not be fired...atleast this year. He got a contract extension last year, and you know the AD would rather coerce him to make changes in his staff then fire an employee who would make so money...with said, I don't think BO should be fired. He has done a better job relating and being honest to the fans/media this year and he's done a better job recruiting, so all that say he needs to be fired needs to slow their role.
