tOSU Phantom Interception

Big Ten officials were stricken blind and stupid early in tonight's Ohio State-Penn State game as a pass from the Nittany Lions' Christian Hackenberg that clearly hit the ground was declared an interception by the Buckeyes' Vonn Bell.

First off, I don't have a dog in this fight. I don't particularly care for tOSU or Penn State. But you gotta feel for Penn State on this one. Just watch the video in this DeadSpin article. This has to be one of the worst calls in cfb this year. Or longer. And I can't imagine what angle the replay guys were seeing that justified upholding this call. Just an awful call by the refs.

 

This game was very tight, going into overtime before tOSU came out on top. Who knows, this bad call might have made the difference in the game. A tOSU loss in this game would have huge implications for the B1G East.

 

Oh well. Such is life.

Including the clock operator. There were extra seconds ticking off left and right, didn't stop after a 1st down. Stopped at 2 seconds at the end of the game after psu field goal when there should have been no time. Seemed like the clock was against psu the entire game

The refs also did the same thing to OSU. It was an odd game to say the least.

Regarding Ohio State INT, booth stopped receiving all feeds at start of game. So not enough information to confirm incomplete pass.

Booth technician followed correct procedures to re-establish feeds. Problem was fixed, but unfortunately too late for PSU.

How does this stuff keep happening? I mean jeez have a guy in a studio somewhere connected to BTN or ESPN making calls...this isn't hard to fix.

How often does this really happen? Also, it isn't like this is a simple setup. Have you ever seen the production trucks for these games? I wonder how many times BTN or ESPN drops a feed and the viewing audience has no idea.

Conspiracy Theory: Are they taking Penn State down while boosting Ohio State up?

Some Penn State fans have grown a little paranoid this week, after the latest series of bad calls against them. But can you really blame the group? The missed calls against Ohio State weren’t isolated incidents; they were part of a pattern. It’s systematic! A conspiracy!

It didn’t help much that the refs insisted they couldn’t see the play on their own equipment and weren’t allowed to look elsewhere, like, oh, I don’t know, up at the TWO NEW GIANT VIDEO BOARDS. Yeah, tough to get a good look when there are two big screens that feature a combined total of 10,285 square feet of video space and show replays in high definition just behind each end zone.
